Even in a day off group, those OCD whiners (the vast majority at least) wouldn't dare bail out of that unit for a District. They'll adjust, as will those who work in hdqtrs who no longer have take home cars. Two different el train lines are within walking distance of 35th st., and as we all know, using the CTA is gratis with the badge & ID.
Very true and a lot of the folks will be losing their take home cars that are parked infront of the neighbors houses... To bad.. :(

I work in Narcotics. J-Fraud had the entire unit (Gangs, Narcotics, Asset Fort, etc, etc) come in to Homan Square on Tues for a meeting. He said thank you to us and he hoped to help us. The line was something like I understand this part of the dept and I can help you. Keep up the good work.
Thursday afternoon all teams in Narcotics were switched to day off groups starting the 7th period. I know at least 1 team will be working 10 days in a row without a day off. The dumbest thing about the move is each area has the same day of group, Area 2 has DOG 4. That leaves each area without any teams for 3 days in a row on certain weekends. That cleary shows that this was not a move to keep teams working in each area every day of the week. This was a bend over and take it in the ASS!!!!
The rumor has it this was not J-Fraud's idea. The idea came from head ASSHOLE of Investigations Peterson!! Has Peterson ever done anything to help the police??? I have never heard a good word about him.
I'm sure they all sit in court to inflate the OT and then it will be back to normal VERY soon. Because let's face it, no one sells drugs on weekends or at night so why should they be out there during those times?

Wow JFED and Peterson are really fucking this dept. up! Narcotics and Gang Intelligence are going to DOG's? Peterson admitted at this meeting that he has never worked in OCD and doesn't know much about it but yet they are making such drastic changes. Do they actually think that these officers are going to go out there and do anything now. The one of few perks left in OCD was to either have Fri/Sat or Sun/Mon off.
And before anyone starts bashing, are you willing to go out there everyday and look/smell like shit to buy dope from these shitheads who frequently fuck with you not to mention sometimes put a gun in your face and or try to rob you?

But yet AFU (Monday - Friday) inside people claim that the banks aren't open on the weekends so they have to work weekdays. How much bank contacting do they do. (By the way banks are open on Saturdays.) That's total bullshit! I have to deal with shit heads everyday in the heat and AFU get to work in airconditioning M-F not to mention some of them get to keep their cars. On that note why do they even need cars? We use them for officer safety but why do certain AFU pets and Admin Sgt. A.G. (dumped from Narcotics) who constantly talks a lot of shit especially about D/C Al.W. get's all the perks. Do the people in 189 have to get a Dr. note to get a Bump Card or is it a part of the mandated unit equipment?
Often tend to look like a bunch of hair-ball ZZ Top wanna be types, which don't fool anyone from dealer to buyer.
A quick quasi off topic question-
What the hell is going on with the female personnel assigned as Detectives. With a few exceptions, they dress like they should be serving drinks or working the shoe rental counter at some bowling alley on old route 66. Pastel color hooded tee shirts, slacks that preclude them stooping down to look at blood directional spray and NO BODY ARMOR while working canvasses post gang shooting.
A couple of the gals on 2nd watch in A/2 VC & SVU, 3rd watch A/1 SVU, A/5 SVU and 606 look squared away in blazers/displayed star, but the rest tend to look very un-detective like. Yes, NH and TS, thats why the security guards at the hospitals always stop you and ask who the hell you are.
Anybody else in the field notice this, or am I just exposed the the "worst dressed list"

You forgot one part of that meeting, Peterson says I never worked in OCD but I always respected the work that came out of here.....
I think this move was done so that they could eliminate the need to hire back so many people for Safe Summer. With OCD is D.O.G.'s they can switch us to nights in a moments notice and stick us out there so they can say that they are doing something to combat the homicides.
And for all you people who call OCD people primadonna's its just like anything else on here that gets people talking shit. Are there a bunch of people in the unit who not only don't deserve to be there but have no business being there? Hell yes there are. But look at how many other units have the thing going on. A good percentage of people who try to knock the whole unit are jealous because they couldn't have a 5 day work week and take home car.
Is the process to get in the unit jacked up? Yeah it is, but some people did get there by doing work and were lucky enough to have a sponsor who word actually meant something at the time of their interviews.
And you think everyone is scared to go back to a district? What a joke that is, I tell you I just won't make the mistake of going back to the ghetto and dealing with the nonsense again. I did that, had my fun back when you could now I'm turned the corner on that aspect of policing. Now if I leave this unit, I'm going to a blue and white, gonna eat good in a normal district, answer my calls look at some beautiful women and go home after 8 hours. Whats the big deal? I've been there before and I know I'm not above it.

That he is not going to do a town hall meeting like he did with the district personnel but is going to schedule one in the future at the academy. Then the skull Peterson takes the mike and basically echos the same words but with a I'm going to fuck you smirk on his face. The next day we are informed that we will be going into day off groups. Also one buy officer was assigned to work the Back of the Yard detail Saturday in uniform. Not safe or smart. If there is a mass bailout from 189 I am ready to leave, they can take their take home car and park it where the sun don't shine. To the officer stating that black and Hispanic officer don't know what they are doing, all white officers do is work enforcement that really hard to do prick.

Let's post comments worth posting that reflect intelligent discussion. I worked in Narcotics and I can tell you that most of the minority officers would run circles around the non minorities. Also, the non minorities think they are too good to buy drugs on any side of town. Who said you had to be a minority to be on drugs. Heck, most of the hood's clientele are white.
Let's look at it like this, Narcotics is a very high stress job, no matter what your position may be. Statistics show that the majority of police shootings that have unfavorable rulings have been on the officer's sixth day. Officers that are rushed to the hospital from work, on average, are on their sixth day. By the sixth day, any officer is emotionally drained.
Look at the work force in Europe. They have the most successful and dedicated workforce in our fine world. They work 7 hours and 4 days. Workers also call off 43% less. I'm sure our great country is not prepared to take note of an inferior country and mirror its practice, but I would say try the day off system that was in Public Housing or how about the Street Deputy's schedule? J-Fed, think about that.
Lastly, according to MS, it was Perterson's idea. That is what we get when we promote Commanders to a Deputy Superintendent. All of them, including the First Deputy have been promoted well beyond their inelligence level.
I am totally against this new Command structure. My friends are all in the in-crowd, so I am not complaining about loosing clout, I am complaining about all the sorry excuse for bosses we are now stuck with. Our last 3 Sueprintendents had over 100 years of experience on CPD, and they were not stupid enoough to make those kinds of decisions. You get rid of all EXPERIENCED top and middle management, promote lower level management who have no idea of what the bosses in between do. Then you basically civilianize all the major departments, then you give whoever wants the option to wear a uniform. The same uniform I spent months in the Academy studying for and runnning for. My 28 years have given me the out. Us old timers are running from this department, full of fools and stupid policy makers that have the experience of a Cadet.

Probably not a fiscally sound idea!!! Most teams in narcotics are either off the weekend or only one weekday and for the most part work days. Now there will be plenty of times they are off two days during the week. You can bet the court savvy narcotics officers will ensure their cases are called on their days off to maximize their overtime.
We do need narcotics on weekends and I wouldn't think the 6th day is anymore of a safety issue than it is in patrol, but I guess only time will tell. BUT I definitely agree with the earlier poster who related that most of the officers will not leave narcotics for beat work.
Its not J fed but the hand picked bosses. You don't have to look far to see the problem
Who cares about all those clout people in Narcotics & Gun teams. Let's say they got rid of all those geeks that couldn't do anything until they were trained for years in the unit. The amount of white guys with beards and pony tails must have been staggering, like having lawn seats at a Dead concert. The event was sponsored by Kleenex, who was handing out free samples but ran out when all of the females who never made a narcotics arrest in the district burst in to fits of uncontrollable sobbing.

I'd like to see the average "joe cop" without a phone call and more than 100 good dope arrests try to get there. Not a chance. I tried to go there with over 12 years experience and more than 900 narcotics arrests. (No law suits, no discipline problems, no court deviations and no sustained CR's) I submitted a resume and the result was "if you don't have a phone call, we can't bring you over". We'll you know what happened to my resume? It got filed in the round floor model.

They have been allowed to run around without accountability. This is the whole department, not just specialized units. You need white shirts that are leaders, not just good test takers, you need PO's that are willing to do their job.
A couple of the gals on 2nd watch in A/2 VC & SVU, 3rd watch A/1 SVU, A/5 SVU and 606 look squared away in blazers/displayed star, but the rest tend to look very un-detective like. Yes, NH and TS, thats why the security guards at the hospitals always stop you and ask who the hell you are.

I worked there for five years while he was there. He knew almost everyone by name, never hid in his office, and ALWAYS had our backs. He came out on calls and rode around the district all the time. Now if you're talking about his "book smarts", I don't know what level of education he has. But he has a whole lot of "street smarts" and will always back us up. Isn't that what we want?

Addressing your second point first, can you prove the poster is CPD? We can't and we don't intend to try. Again, upwards of 30% of our traffic (some days as much as 40%) comes from outside Chicago city limits. You think there are provocateurs out there?

Especially when you've personally heard such comments, and been in the volatile situation of confronting this 'ass hat' behavior in person. And another thing, there is a certain 'lingo' and 'prose' that officers use, so lets not blame it all on some outside 'posters!' Far too often we internalize and DEFEND some garbage mindsets. Before I went to OCD, I thought it would be "The Spot". Now that Im there No OT, Work 10-12 hrs a day and not allowed to drop a slip for OT as it is explained to me you have a take home car and it cost 80.00 doillars to fill the tank(theres your OT). Work as a team and move as a team, not being able to fuck off as and not having lunch most days. An endless amount of paperwork. Starting at all hours. Being robbed at gunpoint. If you think thats being a primadonna, think again. I could work a beat car and write reports, start and know when im getting off duty while asleep standing on my head. The people that are in OCD give more than your average.

What sense does it make to have a whole Area without a support unit a few days every month, including an entire weekend at times. Overtime is about to kick the city's ass! Court alone will increase Narcotics OT budget by at least 37%, I can count, can you?
I don't care about the whiners because having Sun/Mon or Fri/Sat is hell to me, I prefer to rotate, but evenings? How safe is that?
Considering the fact J-Fed NEVER worked in Narcotics, neither has Deputy Superintendent Peterson(smart move mayor) neither has Chief Limon or Commander Roti, thank goodness we have D.C. Wysinger, but then again, he won't say a fucking word. If you don't talk to each other, why not talk to the old timers here in the unit, or then again, since we don't have stripes or bars, we are not worthy? At least we earned the right to wear our fucking uniform!

Aren't the First Deputy's two secretaries the same two Charlie Williams dumped out of then Commander Jimmie Jackson's office in 011 for keeping up shit? Both of them were dealing with a now Dep. Supt. and they were both dealing with the same P.O. in 011 RB. The bald one was also dealing with the oldest running Commander in Area Two. The one with hair had a sexual harrasment beef against the only Black D.S., now her husband is a Commander? Come on Mayor Daley, this is a scandal waiting to hit the news. Then you have the one who doubles for a Man, having a Lt. and a Sgt. dumped beacuse they treated her just as she is, a fucking P.O.? We have to remember though, her husband just made Sergeant, so working for the First Deputy really pays off!!! Yeah Mayor Daley, great choice in a First Deputy, Deputy Superintendent, Sergeant and Commander. This is a real morale boost. If you had said this makes no sense because as it is 50% of narcotics would be working on any given day of the weekend and this change will only put 22% more people on the street on the weekend. OK it looks like time for School. Lets address everything from patrol, ocd, bosses and all the other stupid stuff being talked about on this post
1) Patrol: the job is what you make it. Most of us have responded to Agg Batts, homicides and every other felony. SO WHAT!!!!! Patrol officers get paid the same as Narcotics so why talk about each other, because we are not in the perfect situation. If we were we would be working somewhere else for more money and less stress.
2) Narcotics: the job is what you make it. Most officers buy just a couple bags because that is what these assholes on the corner are selling. Some officers do "buy up" but guess what you don't get paid anymore for "buying up" or doing the best investigation. Yeah its a few perks to narcotics but who cares you get paid the same as patrol officers. The patrol officers probably get more ot so it averages out.
3) Bosses: They come and they go. Some bosses will be liked and some will be hated, but in the end if you learn the job not one boss can hurt you. Examples: (Patrol) Take advantage of your personals(you get 2 a tour) evry dispatcher gives you traveling time to lunch. Late arrests = OT. (Narcotics) A Supervisor CANNOT make you buy dope per OCD special orders, it's at the discretion of the undercover officer. (Detective) If you work your cases, i.e. interviewing on the streets the bosses can't follow you the whole shift.
Now the other crazy stuff will be addressed. No one will leave narcotics unless they take away the cars. Yes cars are a nice perk so take advantage if you can.
There are lazy do nothing officers in narcotics just like every other district in the city. Don't complain if you are a worker, everything averages out in the end(OT or promotion sooner or later). Don't talk shit patrol officers if most officers in units come to a district remember they have Senority, you will get bumped from your spot unless you are that suck ass or clout heavy person you dog in this blog.
Well I am tired of teaching so until next time JUST READ THIS SHIT OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOU LEARN SOMETHING, LMAO!!!!!!!!

10-11 Talk about how great they are.
11 Buy one rock off a 14 year old.

12 - Drive home or run errands with company car on company time.

Of course they aren't depending on narcotics to take radio calls, but I sure as shit had more ducks when I was working tact/gangs for a great sgt who got it in the ghetto.
