Now we have less than 400 a year. It's the same bullshit in the same neighborhoods.

You are correct. But, I don't remember the news covering a drive-by where some mope drug dealer was killed. In fact, the vast majority of the homicides back then didn't even make a blurb in the paper. Now 30% of them are a lead in TV news story.
I also don't remember the news counting the dead.
I also remember that most of those homicides were solved.
Now, there's no way we'll reach those early '90s numbers, but we'll sure be way over last year. And with clearance rates under 15%, it'll make for a wild summer.
Already over 4000 more shots fired calls than last year. That's about a 25% increase.

You have more time than me, but thanks for putting it into perspective. These are shit bags doing the killing. The real homicides are the Judge Lefkow family-type stuff. These killings are just way-of-life killings. There no extreme stress involved which causes these savages to kill. It's just part of the way they are on any normal, given day. 400 killings a year could easily turn back to 900 per year, depending on the mood of the savage. The media actually beleives we are in control of this shit. Sure, good police work will make a dent, but ultimately it is up to the savage, and whether he wants to act human on any given day. We are 11,000 cops patrolling a city of 3 Million. We can influence but no way can we control the murder rate. 400, 800, 900 per year are pretty much the same numer in my mind.

It is not like honor students are getting killed faster than they can reproduce. Our ocean is not being overfished. It is simple, the fish are relocating. The PJ's are gone and the bad guys are being moved out to the burbs and collar counties or they are moving out to the burbs or a collar county of their own volition, whichever. They shoot, kill or get killed out there and it is not a part of our count.
Now, if you could somehow add our number of suddenly passed to the number of ex-Chicagoan shooters in the burbs and collar counties, regardless if the shooter is susequently killed or not, regardless if their victim is an ex-Chicagoan, and regardless if the victim expires or not, added to ex-Chicagoan shooting victims from the Cook County burbs and the collar counties, regardless if they survive or not, I wonder what that number would be?
That total number might be a little closer to our back in the day number of homicides.

After visiting the south side this past week, you officers there are truly holding the district where you work together. Your zone (9) was non-stopped with man w/ a gun...man shot...etc.etc.

Enough with the Baghdad crap. Our soldiers are in a lot of danger over there and getting a hell of a lot less $ than we are. I don't believe that 1500 coppers have been killed in Chicago since the start of the war (thank God). You do a disservice to our guys and gals by comparing the murders of our soldiers to the murders of GDs and Latin Kings.

Economy is in the crapper, kids getting out for the summer have no hope of finding a summer gig and grads [both HS and College] are hard pressed get an interview, much less land the job. Gas is priced so high, I doubt a Buddist monk could toast himself for less that a sawbuck.
But yes, by all means, lets throw everything we have into trying to bribe the Olympic ass-hats into chosing our town. Hey Mr. Mayor, how 'bout looking out for the citizens who pay the taxes and live in this town? Or do we have to carry the rest of the world accross the river Styx as well?

not to be a dick i respect those in our armed forces and have many friends and family in the middle east or who have done there time there and a decent number of our soldiers are GD's and Latin King's and dude its a freakin joke man lighten up you will live longer
in regards to the 900 homicides a year, i would place alot of the blame on keeping these people alive on the medical attention these shitbags get. doctors, nurses and paramedics are way better now than years back. im just guessing but i would say they keep about 150 to 200 victims of agg batts alive
