More BS

  • The tow truck business owner allegedly wanted a "big favor."

In exchange for agreeing to make a Chicago police officer's car disappear so the officer could fraudulently collect on his insurance, the owner wanted the officer to chase rival tow trucks from accident scenes, authorities say.

As part of the scam, the police officer would declare his car stolen, and the tow truck company would hand over the car to a co-schemer who would take it apart, sell the parts and keep the money, authorities say.
Just freaking wonderful.

CONGRATS! As usual, the first poster is an idiot!!

WTF are you talking about?!

What part of this was a "good idea"?

collect $4,000 on your piece of shit car in exchange for your city job and possibly your freedom? Oh yeah, that's a "great idea".

or maybe it's always a good idea to do criminal acts with other criminals; they'll never give up an officer as their get out of jail free card. Oh, yeah, that's a great idea too.

or maybe shagging other tow truck drivers to collect $50 from your "friend" the tow guy is an even better idea. Maybe we can bring back the dead bodies to funeral homes idea.

or better yet, let's start something up with the board-up guys; YEAH, THAT'S A GREAT FUCKING IDEA!!

Thank you for your contribution to another black-eye for the department. Readers can watch the news to see some of our retards in action, then come here to finish it off with our opening post from another retard.

Hey J.G. now do you think that this was all worth it? I don't get it why any P.O. would partake in such illegal activities in which they might get caught and pay a very high penalty (prison time, losing your job, losing your pension, convicted felon, etc...). Why? We make a good living, we have good benefits and it just plain is not worth it! Good luck J.G. I wish you the best and hope things work out and Jody doesn't go all wild on you.

State Police used E&R towing over 15 years ago, probably longer. During one of the annual tow company audits/inspections it was found that they were dealing in stolen auto parts and were quickly dumped from our tow list. Sounds like they haven't changed their ways.

I hate to pile on, but I can't resist. This was too funny.

Fox news shows JG getting into the front passenger seat, while some woman, who is screaming at the camera, gets into the back seat. The car suddenly races foward about twenty feet then stops.

A seventy-year old man walks up to the car and gets in the back seat.

They forgot grandpa!

The best part was grandpa looks right into the camera with this "where the fuck am I" look right before getting in the car.

Total take $4000. Making grandpa go to a bond hearing, priceless.

Before you partake in these shenanigans, remember who really suffers for your bullshit.

Thanks for taking the time to bash the 'educated' coppers. It looks great to have Archie Bunker alive and well. This job has fluctuated between requiring college and not (allowing Veterans to waive depending on length of service)
The bottom line is the attempt to require folks to be able to string a few words together and have the discipline to finish a few semesters (even at Chicago State or the wonderful city colleges)is not asking to much.
A minimal education requirement is not the cause of all gloom and doom. And by the way JG did not test in 97 when it was first a requirement, nor did JF or half the other douche bags who bring us down.
PS I got my BS with a wife and 2 kids making 8$ an hour supporting a family of 4, (supplemented by GI Bill) my MS on this job, and left patrol division after 5 years because some people would rather bitch and moan then study, so I guess I owe you a thank you after all Mr Bunker.

In the wake of all this BAD NEWS and since our chances of being fired and or indicted loom greater, there are a lot of scared nervous, worried and concerned policemen and women.

What I am wondering is , since we are good at blasting each other and listing things. Should we list those "potential" threats to our future?

Not sure if it necessary. Nobody likes or needs to be like Herrera or whatever Rat but some people need to LEARN NOW!

These other officers and supervisors ARE in each unit and district in which we all serve.

We have all endured or seen the "loose cannons". Some are still doing proactive work with little or no concern for what is happening at this juncture in Chicago.

I am not talking about responding to OEC calls for robbery or burglary, shots fired or men shot or even 10-1's.

What I am referring to is the few that are still padding themselves in patrol or on tact or gang teams with the drop cases or surveillance cases that Herrera spoke about in referencing "Creative Writing" which the Academy taught throughout the years.

I don't think its wrong to put the bad guys away but to be "turning it up" right now with no regard for what is going on in the City can be hazardous to you or the partner or team members that you are working with.

In other words there are some people you just can't reach and the "Cool Hand Lukes" of our job need to wake up and just respond to the radios right now!

We all know those you can't reach, but new guys coming into districts or onto teams do not know them as they assist and back each other up unknowingly!

Think of the OTHER OFFICERS out here!! &

Be careful ..........

----------------------------------

Guys, stop deflecting the blame. This wasnt Daleys fault, it wasnt a supervisors fault, it wasnt the fault of an FTO or the academy staff. It was the fault of the dirty copper who did the dirty deed. It makes us all look bad. The overerwhelming majority of us do our job, never take a dime, never dishonor our peers or the names of our families. Those few that do make us all look like donkeys and they share blame with no one but themselves.

We do a tough job, we do it well. We have to see and do things that turn most peoples stomachs. It takes its toll. We sacrafice a little bit of our humanity for the sake of citizens who couldnt care less about us. Call me naive, idealistic or soft, I dont care. Every day we go to work we run risks for the sake of people who think of us as armed garbagemen at best, hate our guts at worst. Every one of us has seen horrible things and had to do things that no one else would want to do. I'm not talking about dirty deeds, taking money or being dirty in any other way. I'm talking about things like holding a dead baby in your lap on the way to the mourge so it wont bounce and slide around in the back of the wagon. Giving it what dignity you can in death it was denied in its short and sorry life. Any of you could come up with dozens of other examples. If you dont think this stuff takes a piece of your soul think again. We give this bit of ourselves so that a public who laughs at us can, maybe, sleep in safety at night. What we do is noble, honorable and right. When any of us cross the line it tarnishes all of us. When any of us is dirty it erodes a little of the moral high ground that our sacrafices give us all.

Dont make excuses for a dirty cop. There is truly nothing worse. The only one to blame when you are dirty is you.

Lets watch out for each other, not just this summer but for the rest of our careers and lives. We got no one but each other. Lets make that mean something. I'll back up every one of you. The overwhelming majority of you are the best men and women I have ever met. The blame for the filth with badges who drag us all down rests squarely on the chests of themselves alone. To them I say "you dug your hole alone, now get in". To the overwhelming majority of us that give of ourselves every day to make this world better, I pray that the big man upstairs looks after every one of you and your families. When all is said and done we got nobody but ourselves and him.

A new way to stop corruption:

Each Officer convicted of a Felony must walk through a 13000 long line of honest Chicago Police officers.

Each Officer in the line will be entitled to do as he/she pleases to the offending Officer depending on the number of times the Officer in the line has been asked by a neighbor or friend:

Hey, what about that cop that got arrested for ...?

That is all.

While much of what you say may be true, there can never be any meaningful reform within the CPD until Richard M. Daley is out of office by either imprisonment or death.

An absolutely corrupt mayor sets the moral compass for the management of the CPD and other branches of city government.

The City of Chicago is easily the most corrupt major city in the nation.
Don't try to gloss it over with positive spin and rhetoric.

I'm not criticizing this poster or any other officer who feels they don't want to be proactive but stop referring to drop cases and surveillance cases as all made up. Doppey drops his stuff quite often cause he feels if you don't actually grab him with it he can't be charged. It's one of those myths they believe just like when they used to believe you had to tell them you were a police officer if asked (uc reference)...And there is nothing wrong with doing a surveillance, it's good police work. Many of copper has spent a lot of time in vacant buildings, bushes, etc.. It's not all lies guys, there is some fine police work going on out here...Let's not use to broad a brush on one another...

I always ignore the tow drivers on accident scenes. I won't even let them move cars to clear traffic. My scumbag radar goes crazy when I deal with them. I make it crystal clear to citizens that they have NOTHING to do with the Police Department, and advise the "citizens" to contact their insurance company
6/06/2008 01:29:00 PM

I was sent to an Insurance Fraud Seminar sponcered by the NICB on 21 May 08 in Schaumburg.
On that date the "Truth in Towing" bill was out of commitee and a vote was pending. Should end the old holding the car hostage shit for good.

To the credit of the working CPD: this bill only came about after enough cases of fraud and the gouging of citizens had been documented, with a few of them steered to our media "friends" resulting in the "investigation" by a certain ageing female reporter. All the heavy lifting had been done and the crash RD#s, dates/times and motivated near or actual motivated victims' contact information supplied.
And by the way aunt Pam Z, your'e welcome for the xerox copies of the towing-storage bills in excess of$4000 for 5 days of lot storage.

As far as the big-wig from IAD being quoted in the Scumtimes that "this could be our biggest" investigation yet... You guys REALLY need to get out of the office more often. Look around a little at the supervisors in a few districts/units, look at some A&As in specialised units and give the FTO program and the academy an upper colonic ASAP.

Stay safe everybody -

Each Officer convicted of a Felony must walk through a 13000 long line of honest Chicago Police officers.

Where will you find 13,000 officers? What rock do you crawl out from? Nice idea but we do not have 13,000 sworn. Even counting the empty holsters at 35th street, we are under 12,000.

025 has been full of bad apples for a long time. Move the bosses and seperate these morons. When is it going to end. FYI Three Chicago Firemen arrested at Bernies in Wrigleyville last weekend. Two charged with battery and one charged with battery to a police officer along with battery. All were drunken fools. Never made the news at all. If it were three policemen it would have been on the world news. C'mon guys quit making us all look like fools.

The only way to prevent officers from doing stupid shit like this is to come up with a way to educate them. Something in a form of a test that would show them the right way. Maybe include scenarios of different situations. Make the test impossible to fail so that we can all feel special and show everybody how special we really are. We can call it the Ethics test. Maybe even expand it to include every city worker. We can create a whole new city department to run it. It would be revolutionary. No more ethics violations, no more embarrassments. Wouldn't that be great?

Lets take a closer look at this. Years ago when you caught a felon court for that specific case was set. Such as dope each case would have a different court date, thus making OT or when you started at 10am on a tact team and court was at 9am you would get an hour instead now your hours are adjusted . When OT was available = Coppers working legit OT for needed cash. Take away OT, Make them pay more for health insurance, Increase food bills, pay for private education for your children, higher gasoline, gas and electric is higher, bill them for everything and make them live where it's almost impossible to survive without 2 income's = Cheat, steal, beg, borrow to survive. Oh yes if I had to do it all over again I would choose another profession.

6/06/2008 05:12:00 PM"

If you really believe this, then you are as blind as a bat.

Management and 'the city' are one and the same.

And contempt is not what they feel, it's more like arrogant satisfaction, at how successful they've been at discouraging everyone, citizen and coppers alike, from believing that there is even the slightest chance of reforming any branch of government.

These occasional incidents of blatant criminal activities committed by police officers is nothing compared to the vast criminal frauds being committed by 'city management'.

The only stupid thing cops can do is produce revenue for the city.

The fact that there is increased pressures being brought to bear to reverse the trend of decreased revenue proves that this strategy is working.

When you've got the bastards by the balls, don't stop squeezing until there's nothing left but a red stain on your glove.

Your post is spot on!

Richard "The Don" Daley, the chief executive of Chicago sets the culture standard for every other employee and representative of this city.

When it's corrupt at the top, it's corrupt all they way down. That's not to say every city representative or employee is rotten but the Daley culture of corruption attracts criminals.

Let’s list a few major scams (readers please feel free to add those I've missed.)

Millennium Park Cost Over Runs...absurdly high.

Millennium Park Grill Contract.

Tadin Land Deal

Midway Closing

Minority Contract/Duff Family scam

HDO Gang

City Hiring Scam

Filtration Plant Drug Ring

TIF Districting FUBAR

Low Real Estate Tax Assessments or non payment by ala Alderman Gutierrez.

Etc.

Of all the scams the one that shows Daley rules over a culture of corruption is the City hiring scandal.

To the guy who posted “don't blame Daley” get your head out of your ass and quit visiting Daley on Fridays and giving him a happy ending to his week.

To Newbie asking about tow truck drivers, This what you can do when dealing with thesericks:
1. When they pretend to be your friend and ask you if you want them to relocate the vehicle off the street for you tell them no thank you.
2. If they illegally park their truck while on your scene warn of a citation being issued.
3. Ask both parties if they called for that particular tow truck. If both parties state they didnt call a tow truck, ask the tow truck driver to produce a license to solicit business on the public way(I've done this several times)and warn you will arrest them when you are done with the report if they remain on the scene.
4. Warn the motorists you do not recommened any tow trucks not authorized by their insurance carriers.
5. If you can see or hear the scanner in plain view you can also warn them with arrest for having a scanner on a police frequency.
Remember all these drivers have IR#s and will sell you out in a minute like JG and several other p.o.'s that deal with these tow truck drivers. Also remember you dont know if they are being watched by the G, are the G, or working for the G. Finally to all you guys the make legit officers job harder at accident scenes with these assholes because you are too lazy to wait for a city tow FU and I hope your are next to get caught in the G's net.

I don't think that tow drivers are committing any crimes while using the scanner. I'd love to see someone get locked up for it.Its when Boo-Boo and the homies are on the corner slinging rock.

8-4-059 Possession of scanners illegal. (a) Whenever used in this section, the word "scanner" means a radio set or apparatus (1) capable of receiving, transmitting, or both receiving and transmitting radio messages or signals with the wavelength or channel now or hereafter assigned by the Federal Communications Commission or its successor for use by law enforcement agencies; or (2) that may intercept or interfere with the transmission or reception of radio messages or signals by the department of police. (b) No person shall use a scanner in such a way as to interfere with messages transmitted or received by the department of police. No person shall use a scanner to aid or abet the performance of any act in violation or any law or ordinance. The use of a scanner to aid or abet any illegal act shall be an offense separate and distinct from such illegal act. (c) Any person who violates this section shall be subject to a fine of not less than $200.00 and not more than $500.00. (Added. Coun. J. 7-14-03, p. 35538)

I DO NOT agree at all with what JG was involved in... BUT... JG has never been a 'poser', nor a goof. Obviously he musta hurt your lil feelings at some point or another (where's that damned rolling my eyes emoticon??) As an officer he has done some good work. And unlike a certain P.O. from 025 (J.C.) - JG earned his damned awards. I am sickened to find out he (& others soon to be publicly named) were doing what they did, but that doesn't mean he was a 'poser'.

Hey, look who's callin' someone a moron - moron... JG didn't reap the $4K you twit... it was someone else.

The 025 2nd watch guys have the WalMart gig all locked up - & obviously b/c you are so clueless - JG DID work there...

For those of you casting all your stones at the 025 district, better save some for across the City. This thing is citywide and ALOT more P.O.'s gonna be at ARP (if they aren't maxed out already on manpower).

The sheer arrogance and stupidity of those involved in these types of schemes - fuckin' knock it off already. I am SO sick & tired of 1 nonsense scandal after another.

We are our own worst enemies at times. Do your job. Respond in a timely manner. WE are all WE have. Stop doin' stupid shit.

Bring this City to it's damned knees. No revenue generated by us, no passes for ANYONE (you never know WHO it is), do your job to the letter - and no more. Remember - not even King Daley can make us be pro-active. And if the bosses start squawkin' about activity - especially to the point of abuse/threats ring FOP's phones off the wall & find an officer who can teach you to play the radio.
