More Money Wasted?

Didn't we just read about how tax revenue down? The bottled water tax is collecting under half of projections, anyone hoping to save money is shopping outside the city, ticket revenue is down millions more, the City even sold the land at 14th & Ashland that was supposed to be for a new 012 District to Sam's Club.

So why waste a few hundred thousand, maybe a million or more on a structure that's falling down? From our e-mail:
  • The Eleventh District parking lot is getting a make over. The city has hired someone to replace the entire sprinkler system. Of course if you look you can see that it is falling apart. The ramp to the basement has concrete hanging down, the stairwell door frames are falling apart, the foundations to the supports are all cracked, humongous potholes were just patched, bricks by the judges parking space are falling and the city is paying someone to put in the new sprinkler system before it is condemned?
Got to keep those union voters happy we guess. How many projects like this go through the City Council and mayor's office on an annual basis? Tens of millions of dollars worth? Hundreds of millions? And we get offered a 1.5% raise and the possibility of no retro pay? What's that cost-of-living increase speculated to be at the moment?

LITTLE DOES ANYONE KNOW THAT INSPECTORS TOURED AREA 4 INCLUDING THE 011 DIST.

THE BUILDING HAD SO MANY VIOLATIONS THAT THE ENGINEERS ARE MAKING SUM SERIOUS O.T.

THE WORD IS THEY HAVE BEEN INSTALLING FIRE ALARM SENSOR S IN THE BUILDING.

DOES ANY ONE NOT REMEMBER THE FIRE IN 011 A YEAR BACK THAT COST THE CITY MILLIONS!!!

SO IT ONLY TOO THE CITY ABOUT 18MONTHS TO FIX THE FIRE CODE VIOLATIONS.

====

What makes you think any union pipe fitting or sprinkler system job on a City building isn't staffed with union workers, two of which don't show up for the job?

Soprano "no-show" type jobs you dope, do a little digging. The media isn't doing it.

Almost all the stations are falling apart. Look at those building engineers in 025 they just hide in their basement office smoking cigarettes. Tell them about something wrong and they tell you only an electrician can change the light bulbs or a plumber will come to fix the leaking sewers in the basement. I just hope the city sees this and privatizes it. They got rid of city janitors and now the floors are clean. Privatize all these political hack jobs!

Perhaps some of you old-timers remember when the station at Homan and Harrison was first built by "minority contractors".

It featured the stairway to nowhere. The plumbers installed pipes which were too narrow to handle raw sewage.

Thats why I drive a $1,000 car to work. When that garage collapses, I'll sue and win the ghetto lottery as well. Why not? In the infamous words of the desk clerk in the medical section..."I'm gonna get mines."

Take a hard look at the ventilation systems in the stations. It's slowly killing all of us and you don't even know it. They are supposed to be cleaned out every 30-45 days. Hard truth - they havent been cleaned out in over 10 years. scary aint it.

Hello OSHA!

I'd rather work in a coal mine than in 011!

Plus then I wouldn't have to hear 11-Dub when I'm working in a coal mine...going down down down!

No, I was thinking about all that 'privatization' that the midget loves to tout.

....yup..Keep the unions happy
Ever notice the new 'lego' blocks in the sidewalks by intersections now?? & how about taking every residential intersection (& some main streets) and re-doing the 18 inches of asphalt around the corners and in front of the 'lego' blocks where the sidewalk meets the street. Anyone know what's up with that???

Privatize? You must be on the pipe. The douch bag engineers [3 Miglin Management goofs] at the 001st District facility can't keep a two story building operational. And the gaps between the blocks in the hallway are in excess of 1 1/4 inches wide, the mice walk right in for the winter.
Anybody remember the mayor proclaiming this was a "100 year building"?
Not - sell that shit to the tourists!
