LAST NIGHT, I CALLED 911, FIRST CALL, I WAS DISCONNECTED, SECOND CALL I WAS GREETED WITH A LOUD SCREECHING SOUND FOLLOWED BY SOMEONE TRYING TO DIAL A PHONE, THIRD CALL WAS ANSWERED WITH 911 FASHION, I ASKED WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT? SHE SAID THAT WAS HER NAME.
THE REASON THAT I CALLED 911 WAS BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS SHOOTING OFF FIREWORKS STARTING AT 12AM AND GOING ON UNTIL AFTER 1:30 AM. I DON'T CARE IF THEY SHOOT OFF FIREWORKS OR MAKE NOISE OR WHATEVER AS LONG AS THEY STOP BY MIDNIGHT, NOT START AFTER MIDNIGHT. I DON'T CARE IF THEY BLOW THEMSELVES UP AS LONG AS IT IS DURING A REASONABLE HOUR.
I WAS SO ANGRY, THAT I CALLED THE 16 DIST DESK, AND WAS GREETED BY A CHEERFUL WOMAN'S VOICE TELLING ME SORRY MAM, WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CARS TO SEND SOMEONE OUT. WE ARE SHORT POLICE OFFICERS. THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM, MY PROBLEM IS SOME A-HOLE SHOOTING OFF FIREWORKS AND WAKING ME UP FROM A SOUND SLEEP TO A TERRIFIED 65 LB DOG STUCK UNDER THE BED.

We have another incident of irresponsible news reporting on a Police shooting. Ch. 2 claimed that the latest shooting, in the 2300 block of E. 85st st., was on the SOUTHWEST SIDE of the city. Are all of the employees from ch.2 new hires from other parts of the country? How did that get past the producers and editing staff?
Second, why did they allow the female "cousin" of the deceased to rant about how "the Police shot him down like a dog in front of his kids?" TWO GUNS recovered at the crime scene? Is the public gullible enough to believe that the police just gunned this man down for no reason and dropped not one but TWO guns down at his corpse? Does Ch.2 believe this crap is "breaking news?" Does the television news media realize how much they contribute to unrest in the streets when they post these angry ramblings from people who likely weren't even on the scene when the shootings occurred? Where is the code of ethics in responsible news reporting? Are we the only agency actually bound by ethics?

After a big news story like after a police shooting, We always tried to find the biggest idiot and preferably someone with one or two teeth to put in front of the camera. It wasn't that he was going to tell us what "really" happened, we really found it amusing to put the idiots on for the city stage. We always knew Pat was giving us the real story, but we needed to make it entertaining as well. Be safe guys.

Last I was at work Travis worked 2200-0600. He's a class a tool. But he will write ANYONE dui's and he is proud of it. I promise you if I was in that roll call and a traffic PO said that I would have it out with the dickhead. I don't think that happened but I will find out and repost!
Channel 5, 5:00 p.m. news was still reporting the man shot by police was a streets and sanitation worker...aheheheajfd..wrong..try again. If they would have watched channel 7 news they would have known he worked for a private sanitation company. The point I'm making is that the news media always gets some fact wrong. It's funny how everyone interviewed does not believe the guy had a weapon. When asked if I ever planted drugs on someone my answer was easy...why plant drugs when so many people have it on them? Same with these police shootings..why plant a gun on somebody when sooooo many people in this city are carrying guns and using them. Has anybody who has been shot by the police been guilty of anything? According to family, EVERY police shooting was unjustified.
As commendable as Sgt. John Northern's letter demanding an apology from WLS News 7 is,it is still very sad on our part.
Johnny Northern should be commended for his actions but we as a department should be ashamed for waiting for a retiree to pickup the torch.
There should have been thousands of letters and phone calls to Channel 7 clogging up their phone lines and creating chaos,until they publicly apologized for their irresponsible,biased and garbage journalism.

911 is a joke.It doesn't matter how serious your complaint,you are a citizen of this city and deserve a response to any complaint you call in.
I am not going to start the name calling of P.O.'s in 016 because I know and have worked with many coppers who are now in 016 and they are fine officers.
Yes there are alot of dogs in 016 as in every district but that aside I do not blame the working police in 016 or any other non ghetto district in the city as much as I do the mayor and this asshole Jody for totally running this dept into the ground.
The ghetto will always be the ghetto and those people could care less.Those neighborhoods have been in the gutter since day one and there is nothing this dept could ever do to change that.All that is expected to be done is to keep the crime stats down.But the slow districts,I don't care if they are southside or northside,are where our families live and our children play.
If you work in a busy district answer your jobs and go home, who cares who is selling dope or what gang is killing each other.If you work in a slow district however of course answer your jobs, but always care, because the next dope sale, or man with a gun, or person shot may be on your once quiet street.

Let me tell you that I reside in the South Austin neighborhood on the west side and as a nearly 50 year old African American well-educated woman, I am so tired of the thuggery perpetrated by black males who are in their teens, twenties, thirties and older. I don't know the circumstances of this shooting, however, let's not be so quick to call it racism and police brutality. Everyone shouts about their "baby" and what a good man they are (not speaking specifically about this case because I don't know very much), however, there are far too many of these black males walking around with illegal guns and we just need to stand up and tell it like it is. So, before we go off on the Chicago police, let's recognize what we do know to be true in many cases. What are young black kids doing outside at 1am? Where are the responsible parents? Why are we in far too many instances, having grandmothers and mothers who attend black churches on Sunday often and then allow their children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, etc. sell drugs from their homes? Again, I don't know the situation here, but I have gotten so angry with us as black people always getting angry with the police and yelling racism. Yet, we aren't talking about and addressing the clean-up we need to do in our homes. And, let us remember, we don't call the police unless there IS a problem. Why are we just allowing fireworks to go off and allowing our children to use them in our neighborhoods knowing full well the implicit danger.

Good, you take care of them. I will be answering my radio, assessing the situation, contacting my Sgt., to make sure everything is copacetic, doing my nice report, and backing up other police officers at any time. Then you have to throw in my breaks, lunch and of course so as not to embarrass the city, my car wash, and I can pretty much call it a day.
Remember all you P.O's out there, the directions to everywhere in the city is "Two blocks down and two blocks over." Add a nice smile and a thank you ma'am or sir. Have fun in the city. If I can do anything else to make your stay better...

Great idea.!!! A black t-shirt with Chalkie and the words,
"the count is on to 2016".
Or a yellow t-shirt with a mocked up McD's logo claiming how many the city has chalked up so far.
