Being neither a Cubs fan nor a Sox fan I did enjoy watching the games.
Since the Cubs swept up Norff maybe if the Sox are able to sweep down souff it will maintain equalibrium in the city.
Since Im 300 ahead now and expect to have an additional 300 in the pocket this time next week I think I will be buying a Glock 40 with my winnings.

the first game of the series, they were panning across the audience at Wrigley. They showed two girls, one wearing cubs jersey, the other wearing sox. One was a drop dead gorgeous, tan, brunette. the other was an average looking blonde girl with not much else to say about her. Guess who was wearing what?

Obviously something criminal is going on, so why let the current retirees live high off the hog so us guys with 15 years on can get fucked? If the pension is in jeopardy, cut the current retirees down to say 50% instead of 75%... that way at least we can get some sort of pension... Id take 50% over nothing any day... Im going to call the union about this one!

Completely unrelated to this post, but this is for the detective who pulled my wife and me over on Saturday afternoon. We were on our bikes, on Damen around the hospitals. There's no traffic there at that time (one of the main reasons we ride there), and yeah, we rolled through a 4-way stop.
I don't have a problem with a cop pulling us over for running a stop sign, but the lecture was way, way, way out of line. Stuff like "You people say you want rights and protection but don't want to follow the rules." What people? Married couples with helmets and reflective gear? Do we look like the bikers who cause problems? If so, you need to get out more. Running a stop sign on a deserted road on a Saturday afternoon is very different from those a-holes who weave through traffic and run lights at Milwaukee & Grand during rush hour. If you want to make a difference, take your fat ass over there and write some tickets.
And don't act like you did us a favor by not writing us a ticket and just lecturing us instead. (1) you aren't writing anyone a ticket, because you aren't going to show up in court when I contest it. (2) you probably didn't even have a ticket book with you, being a detective and all. (3) you know that writing us a ticket would only open the door to criticism that the CPD isn't enforcing ANYTHING related to bike safety, neither unsafe bikers nor unsafe drivers. Next time, just write me the fucking ticket and go back to whatever it was you were doing before interrupting my afternoon.
Just to reiterate: I'm not a bike messenger, hipster asshole. My wife and I just like riding our bikes. We're safe and we're not the problem. We also have relatives who are cops. We support the CPD and think you guys (and women) are unfairly criticized and perceived. This guy, however, is exactly why people hate cops.

Friday morning's shooting occurred about a block away from the set on the city's South Side. It happened about half an hour before Depp arrived on the set. No one was injured.
A police detective who blocked traffic while film crews worked nearby told WGN-TV that he arrested five juveniles and seized a handgun from their vehicle. One was later charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

I work with this cop, he may not be the guy you want your daughter to date but I will have him back me up or go through a door with him anytime.
But now word is this detective who was working on the movie set and was 10-99 at the time, witnesses a drived by shooting while blocking street traffic for the movie. He cornered the vehicle and was able to keep 5 gangbangers with a gun at bay by himself and called for assistance. Once the on duty district cops showed up, he turned the whole thing over to them and went back to blcoking the street.
His rewards for his efforts? He was told since nobody notified the movie detail unit (the detective did immediately notified his movie detail supervisor sgt, as to what happened with the drive by and arrest) the Commander of Special Events, Cmdr. Gross, had this officer told that he won't be working the movie detail anymore!
Hmmmmmmmm... makes a great stop and arrest, nobody gets hurt, 5 gangbangers shooting from a car are arrested and the gun with expended shells was recovered and this officer is PUNISHED? This Cmdr Gross should be FIRED! What a pompus asshole!

But you are right about one thing: there definitely is something criminal going on with the pension funding.
For years the city has taken money from our checks and, with matching funds, was to forward it to the pension fund. This they did not do. The pension fund is in trouble because Richard Daley took the money and spent it on wrought iron fences, flower pots, artsey parks, insider land deals, frivolous litigation and trying to get the olympics.
If the "15 year guys" are going to get fucked, it is not the fault of the current and near future retirees, but of the mayor and the alderscum that are running this city, county and state in a financial hell that will take decades to recover from.

Thanks buddy, for the verification. And congratulations on surviving U of C and getting your degree. I, on the other hand, am a graduate of No Clout High School and No Clout University, and I did not listen too well in any of my classes save for one. Why algebra interested me, heaven only knows, but it was the one and only class where I actually listened and learned something. And not coming on CPD is a smart move. Even as bad as it is right now, the job, if it really means something to a person, is a calling. And if you don't hear it calling, then it ain't for you! Have to say kudos to the Cubs. Their team is lookin pretty good so far. The home record is insane. That said I hope the Sox return the favor this coming weekend. Also, remember that the W.S. home field advantage is determined by the All Star game so you better hope the N.L. pulls a horseshoe out of their ass this year. A 400 avg. on the road and the Cubs history of choking doesn't bode well for the CUBS in October.

With 15 years you still have time to make plans. After 30 years, I retired. Too late to make alternative plans. We never had deferred comp. That is new in the last ten years. So your answer is to fuck old timers who cannot get a job, take away the ability to survive and live a decent life after years of sacrifice? What about exempts who receive extra pension beneifts? The White Sox are a blue collar team on the southside of the city with a working class attitude that has taken them to the fifth best record in baseball over the last 15years (look it up). So Cub fans whether you win every game against the Sox from here on out, until you hoist the World Series trophy you are not getting any respect from anyone. Keep on paying premium ticket prices for a team that has so much bad luck, if they didn't, they wouldn't have any luck at all. If they win its about fucking time. Until then I will take solace in the fact that I have seen my team win the whole thing. They did it convincingly and with class no matter how many Cub fans were cheering against them. The answer is simple. The Cubs can be seen on Channel 9 all over the country via cable TV. The fan base just keeps expanding like the universe! The Sox do not have that luxury, but they could if Reinsdorf would allow it, but Reinsdorf is not interested in the fan base, he's interested in the revenue from whatever the current TV deal he has going. Show one game on free TV here, show one only on ESPN there, blackout this game, and so on. He is an ass. He could make the Sox an American sweetheart like the Cubs, but he does not want to do it, and the only answer is that it must be more lucrative for him to keep it the way he currently has it arranged. Money is more important than the fan base. Reinsdorf doesn't give a flying shingle about sports, the Brooklyn boy only cares about revenue.
