Daley Gets the Rod

Coming on the heels of Daley's admission that he doesn't know how to raise morale while lowering crime stats, we get Blago sticking it to Daley very publicly:
  • Seizing upon the controversy enveloping Mayor Richard Daley over Chicago gun violence and city policing, Gov. Rod Blagojevich said Wednesday he's holding discussions with his State Police and Illinois National Guard officials about any crime-fighting role they can play.

"I think today it's fair to say that violent crime in Chicago is out of control," Blagojevich said. "That in certain communities in the city of Chicago, it's reaching epidemic proportions."

Blagojevich said he hasn't talked to the mayor about the issue---he planned to call Daley---and that the administration's discussions are preliminary.

Blago's been on the receiving end of a number of Daley broadsides, so it's amusing to see him firing back on a touchy issue. This feud could be very entertaining for months to come.

SCC:
Here's the scoop on the Blago Broadside. Blago asked Daley's help to stave off the Feds. Daley told him to kiss and make up with Madigan. Didn't happen. Blago's indictment may be coming sooner than later as he's firing shots at Daley.

Will all of the new help Blago is giving Daley means Daley will have enough coppers to arrest Blago and his whole cabinet.

There are no State Police to call in! The State is very understaffed. Only 2 troopers on most of the expressways in Chicago per shift..there used to be 5 on each. If it happens, it will be smoke and mirrors.

Holy Shafted Again Batman!!!

It was Alderman James Balcer of the 11th Ward that suggested that Chicago Police Managers like Deputy Superintendent Beatrice Cuello and Deputy Chief James Keating couldn't be blamed for mismanaging the Taste of Chicago.

Alderman Balcer might be right when he claims the police did a great job under the circumstances. That remark Balcer made about having the U.S. Marines protecting and insuring public safety isn't that far off from the truth now is it? If what many Alderman are saying is true that that kind of violence at the Taste is an everyday occurrence in their wards. Perhaps Balcer's opinion about needed some kind of military operations to support local law enforcement here in Chicago sounds like a great crime fighting strategy.

Having a standing U.S. Military presence here in Chicago is unconstitutional. But, if the governor's assessment of public violence here in Chicago can be characterized as being "out of control, in some neighborhoods." It seems like our local politicians don't have the strength of character to admit to it, as a law enforcement professional myself working in the worst of the worst, I say we need to use old, new and unusual methods to fight crime.

If the Illinois National Guard and State Police could be posted on every street corner where police officers are out gunned four to one. I look forward to working with the State Police and the National Guard. Something needs to be done and it seems like the governor knows more about dealing with Chicago crime problems better then the people we elected to manage our city do.

You know that one smarts. The mayor must be beside himself and walking around saying, "That's just silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, silly, sillly, silly, silly."

Do you see what we can do as cops? Do you see that we can force them to change when we work together on something? Go to the next FOP meeting and talk. We can come up with more de-policing ideas over beers.

They thought we were powerless. They thought wrong. All we have to do is what they ask. Police by the numbers and see what you get. We really should thank the thugs for their help.

Send in the Sheriff's Police!

Remember two years ago when we worked with them and the state on those bullshit roadblocks? Good guys. They worked awfully hard.

The ISP however was lackluster in their performance. Did okay, but they were looking to duck out so they can hit their familiar territory on the Ryan.

Is Blago’s talking about the national guard and the hire back of retired CPD and state troopers part of the big hush hush meeting at OEC building last weekend? Why was the military there? Are they expecting a massive celebration (riot) if Obama wins? Or is Blago just sticking it to Little Richie because of the talk about his brother running for Gov?

Regardless of his motive why was the meeting kept under wraps and doors posted by the Feds? Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't know who you worked with back then but I worked with both agencies a dozen times and hands down a state trooper was a better trained, more disciplined law enforcement agent. The ISP could find dope in any vehicle any trap, CCSP were lazy, untrained and a pain in the ass to work with from the deputies all the way up to that bust off LT they had out there. If any of you think for a second ISP could not handle what you do, go visit their academy for 6 months and see how you do, many of you would not make it. Before you start talking shit about ISP, just remember who gives your drunk asses plays on the highway. How many ISP do you stop acting a fool, And I'm not ISP, I'm CPD that can recognize a highly trained Law Enforcement Official.

I am a tpr working in southern IL but started my career up there and born and raised on the north side. The Gov is nuts. we are lucky to have 3 troops covering 7 counties on the night shifts. How are we going to come up with enough troops to make a difference in Chicago? The overtime and per diem will be nice but we ot your back. State charges will give revenue to the counties and only a small % to the city unlike the city ordinances you enforce. Those ghetto warriors scream when you pull your pistols? That's easy, a napalm strike. With modern technology they don't need to know the streets, just the coordinates. Let's say 43rd to 79th/the lake to cicero and roosevelt to 26th/damen to cicero. And those two spots are just for starters until we stratagize the next strikes, maybe somewhere in 004/005? So young one, that is how an aircraft utilized for combat can help.

did the state police job a real academy and some great guys. Don't knockem they were the only police on midnights in some of these counties down south. You're it.

Came on he cpd to fulfill a life dream. Biggest mistake of my life. remedial reading in the academy, human beings passed as p/os who thru clout made the wall, the run,
red man and the classroom. 25 years later these mopes that were useless in the academy are bosses or desk jockeys. None ever did a lick of police work, went to slow districts and do nothing jobs on the CPD.

respect the trooper, their academy was just like boot camp in the Marine Corp. Plus they launch people on probation. As an organization they were very anal, guys getting fired for stuff we would serve a three or five day suspension. Please respect all other law enforcement agencies.
