Why No Outcry?
- Police were investigating late Friday the shooting of a woman in a section of the West Loop frequented by restaurant-goers.
The woman was waiting for her boyfriend about 1:45 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of West Randolph Street when two men approached her, said Capt. Hootan Bahmandeji.
One demanded valuables, which she refused to turn over, police said. After a struggle, the men grabbed unspecified items and fled. As they were leaving, one of them shot her, police said.
This happened just outside of where the largest Chicago event of the weekend will be going on, "The World's Largest Block Party." Have the troops been notified? Have days off been canceled? Is Car 47 aware?
And why is the description of the assailants limited to "two men...in their 20's"? Tourists everywhere need to be asking if it's safe to be in Chicago any more.

Its seems to be "Politically Incorrect" for the media to use any descriptive terms that imply race. i.e. black hispanic etc, but if its a "2" its readily said.
Look at the sketches released to the media its almost always race neutral.

Since our superintendent is still focused daily on media politics and public perceptions; the police department continues to run amuck with incompetent management. Who's running the store? When and where are these new batch of crime fighting strategies going to be implemented to deal with Chicago's out-of-control crime?
Folks it looks like it might take several more months before the superintendent is going to be able to turn the ship around. By then, Winter will be here and the murder rampage going on now in our streets should have cooled off.
If you follow the police superintendent's statistical analysis and flow charts we are only a few more murders above last year's. Not bad...for his first year.
If you do my math, I predict a 21 percent increase in overall violent crimes reported for this year with an annual upward trend continuing around 20 to 25 percent annually for at least the next two years. However, I am not waiting for them to offer some crime prevention strategies for the general public.
Here are some protective measures that have been proven to be effective time and again:
1. Folks buy a handgun, shotgun or rifle and learn how to properly operate, care and secure this ultimate crime fighting tool in your home and on your person.
2. Stay at home as much as possible. If necessary, stay in well lit areas and public places. Utilize valet parking when dinning out in Chicago.
3. Write, email or make a personal visits often to your local alderman's office. Ask them why crime and disorder is "out of control" here in Chicago? Ask that alderman why they don't support the police officers working the streets?
4. Start a political action committee for the purpose of electing new candidates for state and local offices.
5. Pray for divine intervention.
6. Register to vote.
7. Run for public office.
8. People vote for honest and responsible government.
9. Decide now know to make a change in your future.
10. Do it now!!!

Some good advice above but if your in Chicago you can't legally buy a pistol being a Chicago resident. If you purchase any other firearm it must be approved before hand and registered each year by the chicago police department. Take classes to learn how to use and store them safely.
Start contacting your ward captains and aldermen, also your state representatives and ask them why is it you can't be trusted to defend yourselves and family legally? Join The Illinois State Rifle Association. They are currently fighting to get your 2nd amendments rights back from those legislators ! Vote with your mind and call those politicians, let them know your dissatisfied with the conditions in the city! Be safe!

An 86-year-old Chicago man who was beaten with a baseball bat in his East Garfield Park apartment earlier this month has died, and an elderly man who lived in the same apartment building is being held in connection with the attack.
A few more days the guy would have possibly died of natural cause.

I would advise any legitimate person without a rap sheet to buy a handgun and learn how to use it safely. Carry just like the dogass does. The only caveat is have umbrella homeowner's insurance. What are they going to charge you with UUW and failure to register? Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six. If you need it, you got it.

It covers anything negligent or accidental. If you're sued for a shooting, they have to allege you did something wrong, i.e., either shot negligently or accidently, etc. Of course they can always say you committed a crime on purpose. But they can't sue you and then say you acted properly.

You are correct. They won't stretch out your homeowners to cover it.
Talk to your agent. You may be able to secure a liability policy. It will be an expensive policy, but would payoff in the long run by hedging the resultant punitive damages award.
