Here Come the Hawks

Sweet!

We really hate to say things like this, but the best thing to happen to Chicago sports in recent years was Bill Wirtz passing away. We never wished Bill any specific evil like falling down a cliff or being crushed by a piano, but we will admit looking forward to the day he wouldn't be in charge of one of the Original Six.

Kind of like the way we look forward to Daley not being in charge of Chicago...but with him, we desperately wish for the piano crushing.

Hey what about JR coming to the south side? Is that not the next best thing? Honestly being a long time sox fan could'nt the sox done better. Maybe acquiring texeira? It's like getting Frave post retirement or Jordan the Raptor years. I had high hopes for Richard. Why couldn't they trade BA or Uribe for JR? Go Hawks!!! Kane "baby gretzky" for Stanley cup MVP.

This is going to be a great season. Foley behind the mike, all games televised. The winter months will sure be more tolerable.

I havn't been this excited about the Hawks probably since around 1992 after the Hawks had lost the Cup to the Pens. Mike Keenan had it all set up where they were going to trade Belfour for Lindros straight up. Hasek would have been the starting goalie with that entire team in tact. Instead, Pully n Wirtz fired Keenan and pulled the plug on that trade. By 97, the Hawks were pretty much irrelevant.

What a difference a year can make! They're not over the top yet, BUT I'd expect at least a playoff appearance. My only beef right now would be we dont need 2 #1 goalies.

I think it would be sweet justice if the old organ out of the barn he wouldn't transfer to the U.C. fell on him rather than some piano.

McDonough is the best thing to happen to the Hawks. Rocky is good don't get me wrong, but Jim is brilliant and able to make Rocky's dreams come true. The Hawks management want the Cup. The signings from the top down show this... Scotty Bowman, Haviland, Beach, Kane, Huet, Campbell, etc.

Detroit will still be tough but at least the rivalry isn't going anywhere.

hey SCC are you a season ticket holder?

Now they've got Scotty Bowman in the front office too. Wouldn't you like to go to Wirtz's grave and tell him that home gams are on TV, Bobby, Stan and Tony are back in the family, former Red Wings coach is now working in the front office, Pat Foley is back, and the team is spending money??!!!

Will it be this good if Richie dies?

Why would you want to waste a perfectly good piano by hoping it dropped on Daley?

Couldn't you just wish Aldertubby Carothers or Phil Cline landed on him?

Who is excited about the Hawks game at wrigley field vs detroit? I am.

How was the neighborhood after the road to wrigley baseball game? it looked calm despite the rain and thunder. The game was awesome. I feel bad for the kids who could not run the bases after the game due to the weather.
