Kass Gets Results
- The mayor's favorite pool boy—airport operations boss Dave "Pool Boy" Ochal—is at it again, throwing his vast political clout in the faces of his neighbors after the storms knocked out power this week.
Ochal's Far Northwest Side neighborhood was without power for two days in the summer heat. Neighbors dug into their own pockets to pay for emergency generators and shipped their elderly, including some who required oxygen therapy, to live with friends and family who had power. Then neighbors said they witnessed a political miracle Wednesday night:
A Commonwealth Edison truck pulled up at Ochal's house in the 5400 block of North Paris Avenue.
The ComEd crew—two workers and a foreman—wore badges signifying they were detailed to O'Hare International Airport. With astonished neighbors watching, the crew delivered a big, fat electric generator to Ochal's home.
- A top official for the Chicago Aviation Department resigned Friday amid an investigation into why Commonwealth Edison delivered a generator to his home during a power outage this week. [...]
In a statement sent to reporters at 5:07 p.m. Friday, the Aviation Department said Ochal's resignation was effective immediately and lauded Ochal's eight years of service. Ochal was paid $159,144 a year as the No. 2 official in the department.
Now Kass can do a follow up on what spot Ochal gets kicked upstairs to. We're sure it'll have a nice hefty raise and golden parachute pension. Remember, these are our tax dollars at work.

The greater the level of creature comforts available to the greatest percentage of citizens, the less attention those citizens will pay to exactly how those creature comforts are available.
Thus, we find ourselves in a time and place that, while still substantially superior to most of the rest of the planet's inhabitants, will likely not remain so in the very near future.
All because we have neglected to remain strong in our minds and hearts, and have, thus, failed to pass this strength, which we no longer have, to our progeny.
The word 'sheeple' is often used to describe what a significant percentage of our fellow citizens have become.
This is not only an accurate description of many, but is also no accident.
All the lip service in the world cannot replace teaching our children by the examples we give them every day of their, and our, lives.
Too many people feel that they cannot afford to live up to the ideals they tell themselves they believe in.
The truth is that we, as a people, cannot afford not to live up to these ideals.
We doom ourselves, and our children, and our children's children, and our children's children's children to a world worse than any we've seen in our parents', grandparents' and great grandparents' times, a world effectively devoid of freedom as we know it.
History repeats itself, and we are back where we, as a nation, started, back to being ruled over by monarchies, aristocracies and dictatorships.
Is this the world we wish to leave to our descendants?

Nothing will be done! There is so much chicanery going on, its only news for 5 minutes and on to the next scam! The odds of anyone getting "disciplined" is a 1000 to one, just like the pool incident! Nobody seems to get it! Kass is a great guy but his job is selling newspapers and he does it very well. Its sort of like the good cop, bad cop routine! He makes everybody feel like "Kass is looking out for us!" It makes for good reading! Bill O'Reilly, same thing! Fair and balanced. Yeah, right! Do some research people! Look at who owns and controls what we all read, discuss and argue about everyday! Then tomorrow they tell us something else! CORPORATIONS dictate what we think, feel, hope for, hate, like, etc! The bottom line is the only barometer on how well they are doing! Everyone quotes something every minute of every day they have read, seen, or heard on TV or radio! Is it true? I hope that the arrogant stroke that I work for gets implicated in this as well. He would have been on Ochal's speed dial for anything electrical.
Let me tell you about the boy wonder. First he was promoted off the clout list. Initially he went on the offensive and attempted to force out older workers and supervisors.
New kids were brought in and given new trucks, equipment, training, overtime, and were allowed to act as foremen within two years.
Later his pal was moved to the day shift with weekends off. Somehow he always ended up in the warm vaults on overtime.
Mr. Congeniality was given a room furnished with desks, captain chairs, a computer, and air conditioning. The higher ups fete him like a VIP. One of my very favorites is the wife of the Mayor's bodyguard. She brings in baked goods exclusively for her clout boys.
The boss and buddy have been a hot topic of conversation for months. Only those with clout are allowed in the room.
I wouldn't doubt that these two secret squirrels had something to do with the generator being delivered to "Pool Boy."
What would this city be like if John Cass was mayor? One thing for sure there would be a lot of city jobs available after John cleans house.
Do you think that Richard Shortshanks gets the Chicago Tribune over in China? Do you think that the stuttering prick gave the order to accept Pool Boy's resignation? I hope Kass keeps tabs on Pool Boy, it will be interesting to see which City, County or State job he lands in. A man of his obvious talent is sure to land another government job somewhere along with another pension.

I too live on the N.W. Side. The electricity going out is all to common. So what I did last year after saving up an additional 2 grand, (this took longer than I thought) I purchased a generator and had an union electrician wire the breaker box with a generator box, so when the juice quits, I have enough to light up the house and a little extra for both neighbors with extension cords.
I'm only a patrolman knocking down 65 G's to Ochal's $160,000. (plus whatever else him and his minions steal)

All non-unoi employees who gice their writing in notice to their departments by 8/11/08 can get a nice severance pay from the City. If Olchal has been a COC employee for 15-20 years he'll get 18k just for leaving. 10-14 years he'll get $16k.
It is too bad Kass can't/won't investigate (or report on) how short the manpower is. He can tell the public how much money is being saved by being thousands of officers short. And then ask why Shorty still wants us to take unpaid days off.

The Daley boys don't care about non clouted females. Sexual Harassment comes in, distributes leaflets, does a couple of trainings, and lets the jamokes off the hook. In legal terms it's called an Affirmative Defense.
I'm still working for someone who sexually harassed me. He retaliated and personnel did nothing to punish him. They have refused to move me. Female higher ups are friendly with him and avoid speaking to me. It is my understanding that another female is in the same boat.
The leaflets from Sexual Harassment say to "speak out." Behind the scenes, the message I got was to "shut up."

Now let me splain it to you Lucy. The guy was heavy enough to make Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Commander and in retirement, be hired for the helicopter job. And as a Sergeant and a Lieutenant he was in the helicopter unit. Would have been there as a Captain too, because there was a Captain in the unit when HH was there as a Lieutenant, but the unit was gone by the time HH made Captain.
Do you follow? The dude is defintely different and he was a prick on his good days and an even bigger prick on his bad days, but he is heavier than a brick shithouse, how I do not know, but all your repeating of the same question about his age isn't going to make a dent. Give it up.

You should look into a EEOC complaint and a good attorney! On the JJ idiot he was even recently elected fop rep in 051? The qusetion is how dumb could the females be that elected this pos? They obviously are not that smart! maybe they should go out with the goof and see what happens? will the new female boss actually do anything to move this creature before he strikes yet again, or will she not and take the heat when he grabs another female? that would show how weak she is!

Sorry; WRONG.
It's possible we have 13,500 police department EMPLOYEES, but not police.
And, if you read press releases these days, they all say 'around 13,000 in the employ' of the Dept, or 'around 13,500 employees'. The verbiage changed just before Cline retired last year.
Two years ago, the last shift availability checks numbered less than ten thousand, including all full-duty working police, all the way up to Phil Cline. Courtesy of a friend who worked in Finance back then.
We've had a bit (ahem) of attrition since then, so we're lucky if we have anywhere near ten thousand sworn, of all ranks.
THERE's your Freedom of Information request. Add in the number of light duty officers who are working (another, separate, Freedom of Info request) and you have the number of Chicago Police of all ranks. Sworn who are detailed away from the Dept itself are not supposed to be receiving shift availability checks, so the numbers should be pretty accurate, just based on these two requests.
Maybe Kass could fill out those two pieces of paper and tell us the truth we can't get from our unions or our mayor.

If more of the "reporters" at the Tribune and SunTimes did what Kass did and does: go out and dig up REAL news on city hall corruption and bring it for the public to see, then quite likely their newspapers would be a financially viable business instead of a financial turd circling the bankruptcy drain.
There is real stuff out there. it just has to be dug out.
How hard can it be?? Finding corruption in Chicago is about as hard as deer hunting at the zoo.
