NFL - No Fun League (Again)

Let's see, the Chicago Park District owns the Stadium. They own the parking lots. Yet, the NFL is doing what now?
  • As part of a new league-wide crackdown, the Chicago Bears say fans will no longer be allowed to tailgate in the parking lot of Soldier Field during games.

The Bears organization sent an e-mail to season ticket holders on Tuesday saying the move is part of a crackdown on unruly behavior.

Once the game starts, fans will have to stop tailgating. The policy starts with the Bears first exhibition game Thursday.

Wait a minute - pre-season begins tomorrow?

Does this mean that Alderman Solis's security company will have to charge the park district and the Bears more money to patrol the parking lots and stands.

Drunken idiots ruin the party for everyone. The NFL has had problems controlling drunks at games across the country. Real Sports on HBO did a great show on this..check it out. You spend $500 to go see a game and some fool is cussing and screaming in your ear the entire afternoon....the game you decide to bring your 10 year old...FUN! Having a few beers and some great food is one thing but to get so wasted you become a nuisance....thats when you cross the line.

This should have been illegal for years. After all you can't drink on Chicago park district property.

How do thr Bears use a first round draft pick on a guy with a chronic back problem? Reports were out 2 days before the draft that there were problems with his back. Total, complete, and unequivical arrogance. Well, at least they didn't trade for that washed-up Mississippi hillbilly who can't even pronounce his own last name. It's FAV-RAY. And to all of you people who were born and raised in Chicago, and are die-hard Green Bay fans-GFY.

Amen brother. Haven't been to a major league game, (baseball, hockey, football) in years. Hit several minor league baseball games a summer. Wolves hockey and college football. The minor league baseball games are great for the family and you save about $60-$80 just walking through the gate for a family of four. Same for wolves games. I have family that goes to Sox games and they always ask me why I won't take my son to one of them. I told them that like most people I bitch about salaries and the ticket price increases that go with them so why would I support this by going to the games. I have just as much fun seeing the Jackhammers, Railcats or Thunderbolts without the hassles of parking, unruly crowds and suurounding neighborhoods. Just my opinion.

I second the thoughts of 12:03:00 AM. But think also about local high school teams, you might even get to see a real half-time show.

The parking lots are publicly owned land. A lawsuit charging violation of the right of freedom of assembly is in order here and the asshole Bears deserve it, as does the Park District.

Without a QB, I think GB might well be worse.

I predict they win no more than 3 games this year.

The bears may have a running game which if it turns out to be real, could make them a 10-6 team this year.

Sorry, but in my humble opinion, the tail gaiters by and large are a bunch of baffoons. I won't miss them.

Is there some particular reason for the new no-tailgaiting rule? Trash? Smoke? Smashed fans? What's the objection?

I say that during the games, we all ought to park in the Field Museum lot, or maybe in the spots on the road out the Planetarium, and tailgate to our hearts' content.

Solis' brother Sonny briefly managed for the company but was quickly bought out. The family has had little contact with the business since.
