man, those suck. i like the old design... are we getting blue/red lights? or are those just stolen from some other website and they put cpd shit on it?
i just hope they continue to put more lights on our cars. i have been driving a pool car in place of my regular beat car, and it's amazing how much more the people can see the lights in the newer model cars compared to the old ones. you know, the led light bar compared to the 2 blinking strobe lights in the old ones.

How bout bullet resistant glass and amoured side panels??

get rid of the traditional blue & white. Plaster the new cars with adds for Old English, Magnum, & king Cobra etc. Also Wild Irish Rose, Night Train, etc. The bro's won't run when they see a police veh approaching, Mayor Idiot will reap millions in advertising fees.
Forget about the black squad car. If everybody's smart, they'll go with a white base. Darker colors tend to absorb heat more efficiently than lighter colors. Ask anybody from Arizona/New Mexico. Remember your color selection if you drive a beat car with no air conditioning.

Reminds me of the story of a town where the government wanted to build a bridge the people of the town did not want. They started protesting, demonstrating, etc.
So, the government starts a poll, as to what color the bridge should be. Soon the people were arguing over their choice of color for the bridge and forgot they did'nt want it in the first place.

I agree 100% the black and white squads are the coolest. witht he traditional decals. otherwise we look like the suburbs
It takes the assholes at fleet forever to get the new cars out with the current simple graphic. Imagine how long it would take with one of the new designs that are much more detailed.
Hey Jody, instead of worrying about the graphic on the cars how about fixing some of the IMPORTANT problems on the department!
Naahhhh... they can stick black & white where the sun don't shine... Chicago is a Navy Blue kind of town. How about the classic CPD door logo & just a bit of "dazzle" pattern trim? Oh yeah, how about an ordinance prohibiting taxi companies from having a color scheme similar to the police? Sick of drunken yuppies tugging on the door handles, mumbling "take me home."
Oh yeah... dual spot lights in the 500k to 1 million candle power range, ballistic inserts in the doors and ballistic film on the windows... before anyone flames, think about it. This stuff is strictly about officer safety... if you gotta do a "strategic relocation" the car is "hard enough" to get you there w/o donating too much additional skin to the game at hand.

...now if only they would bring back the 1994 - 1996 9c1 Chevy Caprice! Damn shame only CTA had those cars, why did you need a rocket (0-60 in about 6.3 seconds according to my watch... unverified top end with lighbar of just over 140+) to catch a bus...huh??? Loved the 89-90 box chevy though ;)
While I will agree its about time for change on the look of our squad cars. I do not like any of the examples given, they look like police cars from Britain. Give us more examples or choices to choose from.
How about just more of the cars we already have??? Is this just a distraction they threw at us so we wouldnt worry about the bigger issues??? Who F#$%ing cares what we drive? I just want a car with AC, less than 120,000 miles on it, a working PDT, and a radio that doesnt chirp after 6 hours! We dont need new. We need more working equipment!!!
I thought this was a a joke when I received it in an e-mail. Well, it is a joke, as if what we vote for would really matter. This is just taking the spotlight off of things that are important. Who cares about the color or decals, just get some new and safe vehicles.

Also, whatever the new design is, have the city council pass and ordinance prohibiting all commercial vehicles operating in the city, from using similar graphics. You know, like taxi cabs that are white, with horizontal strips. I am flagged down at least once a day by people thinking I'm a cab.
Al of the choices suck.

That's a great idea! They should rent out ad space like NASCAR or let business sponsor them. They should also have a portable ,towed electronic sign that could be rented at a higher rate. The prisoner transport vans could be set up like those traveling sign boards. No end to what could be done. At first it sounds crazy but chew on it and it is not so bad.

I'm all for commercial sponsorship on the vehicles. Make some coin on the side. MB churches can get the good word out and we could sport patches of bars that sponsor each individual officer on our uniforms. It's a win-win situation for all.
But there's no way I'll support the colonel with his beady little eyes.
Lets change the graphics so the cost goes up per vhicle. It would probably cost around a thousand to mark up cars in those photos. If we're going to do that we might as well go to the old blue and white look.
I wonder how much was spent to come up with these new graphics? We are broke are'nt we? At least that's what the mayor says.

Back in 1975, and I was there, when Superintendent James Rochford saw the new (our current) squad car paint job said, "It still looks like a taxicab!"
The more complicated the design package, checkerboarding, multicolored stripes and decals, the harder and longer it will take to return a vehicle from the body shop.
There is some benefit to the plain Jane look. But let's loose the CAPS logos, I never liked being "alternative".
why would anyone want a new design? if u want to work for a suburban dept which changes their shit every 2 yrs then leave and go work for them. About the only thing i still like about this department is the old school design
