Bears Upset Colts
Don't get all giddy. It's one game. Still...
- The Bears rookie running back grabbed a second-quarter pass, shook off a blow from linebacker Clint Sessions, then absorbed a vicious stick from Colts safety Bob Sanders. The pinball action in the second quarter sent a woozy Forte to the sideline for a few plays, but he held on after the collision.
Forte's fearless debut was contagious. The Bears played like they had nothing to lose and everyone's respect to gain, recording a 29-13 victory behind 183 rushing yards, 123 by Forte on 23 carries, to spoil the opening of the Colts' new home, Lucas Oil Stadium.
Typical Bears - more yardage on the ground than in the air, control the line of scrimmage, hold the opponent to under 100 rushing yards - under 60 actually. A good beginning.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the Colts blew this early in the first quarter on their second posession. They had the ball in the red zone after the Bears went 3 and out. Peyton calls timeout when he had the Bears D on the ropes. They go on to move backwards about 15 yards and only score a field goal. And most likely lost the game at that point, which is not a bad thing!!
Sorry SCC,
I am giddy.
Revenge for SuperBowl loss, at Indy's New Stadium Home Opener?
Couldn't be a better way to start the Season.
GO BEARS
4-12 if they get lucky. This is a TERRIBLE team. Defense is overrated and has been for the past 3 yrs. Orton is worse than Grossman and their skill positions are worse than any team in football. All of those that were screaming for Orton will realize that no one including peyton manning or tom brady could look good in this system with a shit O-LINE and no running game or receivers. No nothings put all the blame on grossman. I personally am glad he isnt the starter so i can witness all you clowns screaming for him within 5 weeks or maybe the joke of a 3rd string QB that u think looks good because he throws completions in preseason games against 4th string defenses and guys that will not even be in the league. 4-12 IF THEY ARE LUCKY! 2nites score Indy 31 Bears 13

Dude, you're a real football genius...in your own mind.
Forte, like all great running backs, needs to be used at least 25times a game to be effective. I hope the Bears remember this in the next 15 games.
Super Bowl--Super Bears!

HEY SLAPNUTS ITS ONLY 1 GAME.....
dont be fooled by this game. manning was rusty, hasnt played at all before this game. Bears will still be 4 12 5-11 if really loucky
hey 128am, lets see if u post after week 16 and say how great i am. You are another non athletic bears fan that gets excited over 1 win. I will give forte credit though, he played better than any bears RB in past 10yrs or more. And O Line played much better than they will most of this season. @CAR=L, TB=L, PHI= L, @Det= L @ ATL=W,Minn=L, Det=W, @GB=L, @STL=W @Minn=L Jax=L, NO=L GB=W @ Hou=L. Ok so maybe 6-10, the week one upset adds to that impressive record at the end.
I'll tell you one thing. The NFL is now hip to the magic that is Devin Hester. While only a sophomore and barring injury, he will be the greatest return man in NFL history. He may be already.
However, last night's game proves that his fake stall and TD return run will NEVER happen again. Opposing special teams will swarm him if he doesn't signal fair catch and downs the ball. The man is dangerous until he's down.
Last year's return on a failed FG is an all-time classic--a stall and then coast-to-coast.
I've seen Gale Sayers--he could stop on a dime and give you nine cents change en route to a TD. Greatest broken field runner ever.
Hester is easily the most electrifying kick returner ever. Every time he touches the ball, our pulses skyrocket in anticipation of greatness.
Generally speaking, a successful kickoff/punt/failed FG return is the most exciting moment of any game.
Get ready to hear this song again....We are the Bears shuffling crew, shuffling on down doing it for you.....
the best was how the cameras kept focusing on mannings face and how pissed he was. everyone lost money on this game, even bears fans. also watched the legend on 12 o clock cbs game-- from green bay to new york, doesn't matter, still has it.
O line looked pretty good. Tight ends and receivers did some nifty down field blocking.
Orton didn't make real bad mistakes although he got lucky a couple times.
Forte was impressive, and so was Kevin Jones.
Defense seemed spotty but got downright stingy in the red zone.
OTOH, it is just one game.
way to go Orton !
Yeah Baby!!! Go Bears!!!
Does anyone remember when Gale Sayers would return kicks with Brian Piccilo (sp) or Dick Gordon? They would be stacked in tandem and wouldn't choose a side until the kicker was committed. That way the kicking team couldn't be sure of kicking it away from Sayers. Wish they would do that with Hester.
Tom Paholkes ribs are kick-ass! Go Bears !
Bears gonna be a winner??? Hardly. They are always a disappointment. This team will suck until they get an owner willing to spent money on it.
coast-to-coast, devin said...

Hester's great so far but he has some work to do to prove himself better than Deion Sanders.
Primetime! Primetime!
As a Colts fan, I tip my hat to the Bears. They thoroughly outplayed my team last night.
I'd feel worse if I was a New England fan this morning.

SCC,
You forgot to post the line and the payoff amounts???
Remember,we are all a bunch of degenerate gambling junkies.
Keep T-rex GRossman on the bench and make him third string. Do you forget who led (Kyle)the team to the playoffs only to be ruined by T-Rex. That was a great move Lovie. I off to watch some real Furbol and the original game of Rugby and have me a pint at the Pub.
