Another $12 Million Gone
Mayor Daley's plan to borrow $85 million to buy the campus of Michael Reese Hospital to pave the way for construction of a $1.1 billion Olympic Village has hit a snag.
Sources say cost estimates for demolition and environmental cleanup of the 37-acre campus have come back 60 percent higher than anticipated -- $32 million, rather than $20 million.
Abracadabra, Presto! Fran Spielman describes a $12 million shortfall as a "snag," but somehow an additional $12 million will be found just for this. And he'll still plead poor when they finally get around to negotiating salaries for the Police Department.

Sure...Jag-balls Daley can find 85 million for piece of real estate for his precious Olympics but, he can't seem to find money for our contract, to get us PDTs, to provide us with working police cars and enough radios.
Hhhmmmmmmm....they're also able to come up with GPS and video equipment - all for the low, low, low price of about $5,000 per car.
Please, please, please....go to the next FOP meeting and get involved! The city is going to roll over us again next time and most of you are going to sign away your benefits and rights for some lousy $2,500 retro check.

I've got it! I can solve the cash flow problem for Shortshanks! If the cleanup is going to cost so much more, just take all of the illegals from your sanctuary city and put them to work. They do the jobs that no one else wants to, right? They keep the economy going, right? Hell, just look at how many show up for the marches. Hand out some shovels and sledge hammers and have them go to town.
Who the hell needs heavy equipment for that? Look at what the Egyptians did with manual labor. We just need some Manuel labor and our problems are solved. No insurance, minimum wage and you just throw in some of those free CPS lunches to keep them happy and they'll have that place clean in a couple of days.

Don't you get it. Mayor Shortshanks doesn't give a rats ass about the police. You will continue to do your job whether or not you have new computers, a contract or new working police vehicles. We are just pawns to contain the savages from really reaking havoc in the tax paying areas. Sacrificial lambs if any incident is brought to the attention of the media or so call reverands. Don't expect much in this new contract. Daley knows he's got us all by the short hairs whether or not you decide to work and generate revenue or not. Stay safe and back up your fellow officers in blue.
My solution for clearing the debt. Start by ticketing all the trucks driving on LSD. It seems likes thousands continue to break the law everyday with reckless abandon. At 100.00 a truck it won't take long to amass enough money to give us at least a 2% raise.
And the fop will cave as usual for that 1.1% and increased medical costs.
Years ago when they were selling Illinois' citizens the idea of a lottery the politicians pitched it as "money for education, nothing else."
We gullible citizens thought this meant MORE money for education and we voted for it. Then we come to find out that no, it isn't MORE money for education, it only REPLACES money that previously came from other sources with money from the state lottery.
So we all got fucked on that one, the lottery turned out to be just another revenue stream that the politicians played word games with to sell it to us.
And now, what about all that lottery money going to "education"? Why, for some reason as yet unexplained it won't hurt education one little bit to lose that perpetual revenue stream and LEASE THE ENTIRE LOTTERY TO A PRIVATE COMPANY
So, what is happening, perhaps as early as next week, is that the citizens of Illinois will lose that eternal stream of lottery money and it will instead go to a private corporation. Which one? One can only imagine that it will go to a well run and honest corporation with no political ties whatsoever.
It's all on the up and up.
Yeah, and I've got some swampland to sell you and there is no democratic machine in Chicago.
The crooked cock sucker politicians are RIGHT NOW behind closed doors figuring out how to, in effect, sell, rent or lease the lottery to a private entity in exchange for an up front payment that will be spent as soon as it is received and that long flowing revenue stream of lottery money will be GONE!
The lottery money will instead be flowing into the pockets of private investors. All the connected contractors etc. are salivating at the juicy prospect of getting a part of that $10 billion payment coming from the lottery.
And we citizens and taxpayers will get double fucked once again. We will get fucked because we will no longer have the revenue stream from lottery money and we will get more fucked because we know we can't trust Illinois politicians to prudently manage the one time windfall that is coming and we will get finally fucked a few years down the line when we will be asked to REPLACE the lost lottery revenue stream with a HIGHER ILLINOIS STATE INCOME TAX!
It is coming, as sure as the dawn. Look at it, the Illinois Income Tax rate is only 3%. Much lower than other states. Other states have income tax rates of 4 or 6 percent.
In order to butt fuck us with the higher income tax rates there must be a dire pressing need. That need will show itself in a few years when the lottery windfall is spent and the lottery revenue stream is no longer there and must be replaced!
Count on it, this is the way the boys down in Springfield do things. Mark this date down, you were first warned here, in a few years time they will be screaming that the Illinois income tax rate is too low and needs to go up to meet the need. You can bet the ranch on that one.
And Blago and Madigan and Emil jones and the rest? They wll be gone. To prison hopefully but more likely retired to their lavish retirement digs.
Get ready to pay more Illinois citizens, they cannot sell the lottery without replacing that revenue stream with some other source of income. That is certain. Don't believe what they will say, believe this simple fact: if you remove one revenue source you must soon replace it. Cries of doom and gloom will be heard, I predict, within 5 years.
Hopefully retired PO's will still have the Illinois income tax exemption. The working PO's and folks of the rest of the state will get the shaft once again.
