Anti-Violence Rally Surprise
- POLICE ARE PROBING the murder of a 16-year-old boy found shot to death at a residence in the Kelvyn Park neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
About 3:15 p.m., police responded to a home in the 2100 block of North Kildare Avenue and found Danny Lima, dead at the scene, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Lima, of West Huron St., was shot in the chest at 2120 N. Kildare Ave., the Cook County Medical Examiner said. Police have no further information on the murder or why the teen was at the residence.
This is one of at least five homicides this past weekend. What makes this one ironic?
- According to letters from 025, while the body was cooling in the backyard, Mayor Daley was holding an "anti-violence" rally in the 2100 block of North Kildare.
No media coverage on that though.

At that same rally Daley said that if the 16 year old is the big man of the neighborhood then it's time for the men on the block to get up off their asses and do something. Looks like he got what he wanted.
Daley said at the rally it is the responsibility of community residents to challenge gang members. If I remember, he said for them to get off their butts and stop the violence. So, he is now holding the community responsible. If there are gang members on the block, a father must leave his family and challenge a gang member possibly armed? Where are the police? Daley will do anything to avoid acknowledging shortage of police. He is amazing.

She call 911 and tells them the circumstances, either someone is in her house now or someone has attempted to break into her residence. While waiting for the police to arrive, the woman who lives around Devon and Central, calls a family member who is a police officer assigned to a city wide unit. This officer who was at NORTH and WELLS responds to the scene and arrrives there before any 016 car. WTF! Ok I will give BT 1621 a break. They got the job but were maybe tied up on something. But what about all the other cars in 016. Give me a break! If you dont want to be the police just quit! This story should absolutely terrify any officer or citizen living in 016. If you need help in 016 it wont be there quick. All you dogs know who you are and you should be ashamed!

was at the medical section today... all F/1s over 3 bills working in there... the Hudson debacle came on the TV and they all start hootin and hollarin "come on turn it up turn it up!" The ring leader grabs the remote, proclaims "I dont care if y'all dont wanna hear it dis big news we gots to hear dis!" and proceeds to turn the volume up all the way! All work ceased and more and more F/1s over 3 bills started filling the waiting room... next, all the F/1 nurses filled the room and not a patient was being called... One guy (M/2) asked if they could turn it down because he had a concussion and the vloume made his head pound and he got a volley of "psssss"s and dirty looks and he was ignored... I mean you would have thought B Hussein Osama bin Obama was making a personal appearance! By this time, there were no fewer than 15 F/1s over 3 bills in the waiting room, PO nurses, front desk help and not an ounce of work being done! So as the story went on, I simply asked "hey, if my mom and brother were shot would it get this much attention??? Would the FBI be called in for me?" I also received a volley of "pssssttttt"s and dirty looks but I caught a couple under the breath claims of "he ah RACCIISSST" so the story ended, a few tears flew, the medical section was a good 45 minutes behind and the waiting room was now filled with POs waiting to be seen. So being this was my first trip to the medical in about 8 years it is good to see nothing has changed! A bunch of lazy do nothing shit heads that are draining this city and this department of much needed funding! You want to save money? Start by cutting the worthless pieces of shit who work at the medical section!

That is totally irresponsible thinking. Homicides take place all hours of the day, in various locations to include residences. Officer are not able to approach every potential offender on his beat to question or even search for weapons. We could just see all the lawsuits being filed if this took place. Remember that if an offender wants to harm a victim there is nothing that a beat car can do to stop it from happening unless that victim is given 24 hr security. Besides who do you blame if the beat car is down on lunch, a paper job or better yet the Dist is in a backlog with no cars available.

Public pension funds in US states are facing their worst year of losses in history, exacerbating existing funding shortfalls and putting pressure on government to shore them up.
In the nine months to the end of September, the average state pension fund lost 14.8 per cent, according to Northern Trust, a fund company. The loss has grown since as financial markets slumped further in October. The previous highest loss for state funds was 7.9 per cent for the full year in 2002.
California's Calpers, the US's biggest pension fund, last week reported a loss of 20 per cent of its assets, or close to $40bn (€31.5bn, £25.2bn), between July 1 and October 20 this year.
State and local pension funds comprise a patchwork of 2,700 funds which manage $1,400bn on behalf of 21m employees, including teachers, firefighters and other municipal workers.
About 40 per cent are underfunded, meaning that they would not be able to pay the future pensions that employees have been promised. State governments have lifted pension benefits - a move that is politically popular - but have often failed to put in more money to pay for them.
Richard Daley, mayor of Chicago, this year convened a task force to address the shortfalls in Illinois funds, which are poorly funded. For example, funding for the Police Fund has fallen to less than 50 per cent.
A Chicago police officer told the Financial Times: "We are keeping our promise to serve and protect, and risking our lives here every day, but we have no idea if the pension we have been guaranteed will be there when we retire. That's just not right."
The officer called on the city to "do the right thing" and start contributing more to the fund.

I too think that this lady should have waited along time for a car to show. With that said, Beat 1621, 3rd watch are a bunch of DOG'S. If they recieve a call one block from their location, they will circle the entire district to go to the call. They don't want to get there too fast, may have to do some work. That's because the 016 district always has been, is now and always will be stocked with some of the biggest waste of oxygen police officers the city has ever hired. They are the ones who love to tell war stories at the family bbq but have in reality NEVER had the true experience of what it's like to have a "bad day" at work. To those in 016 who have earned their right to bid to the homeland from the lost causes of the south and west sides(deep down you know who you are and who really earned it) this DOES NOT apply to you, you have done your tour in hell and it's time to come home. This is to the bad asses who have spent the majority of their career in the nice quiet north and northwest sides. You have the priveledge of not knowing or experiencing what a true 10-1 is yet alot of you choose to write other coppers tickets(no I have never received one so don't say I'm just bitter). 107 million in Credit Default Obligations- that is correct 107 million. Some of these instruments were sold by investment houses over the last month. They got from 10 to 90 cents on the dollar invested.
Does the Pension fund hold any CDS? Credit Default Swaps? Basically some entity insuring some loan, the problem being, the entity did not have enough capital to back it up.
How much exposure did the Pension Fund advisors have to all of the financial nonsense?? Does the Board even ask these questions?
I know everyone thinks that this is guaranteed money- well any Court can over rule anything, police officers should know this best.
I have asked these questions this weekend of the pension board rep. and have yet to receive an answer.

Actually, I think that there is at least ONE other plausable reason.
The FBI up-sized in the early-to-mid 1970's. A lot of those agents are now reaching retirement age. Not all of them can/will find employment in American business and industry as security "experts", unless a company needs some to guard its art collection.
So the FBI agents nearing retirement start telling cities that their police departments are swamps of rampant corruption and brutality and that they will be taken over by the Feds.
However, if they were to hire a soon-to-be-retiring agent, that might stem that from happening.
Making their own "Golden Parachute."
Don't think the FBI doesn't lean on people to get what it wants. They are answerable to no one.
