Another Shooting
An off-duty Chicago police officer shot a man armed with a knife early this morning on the North Side, police said.
The shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. outside a residence in the 5100 block of North Bernard Street in the North Park neighborhood, said Mark Payne, a spokesman for the Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates shootings involving Chicago officers.
The 20-year-old man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, said Eve Rodriguez, a Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman. She said preliminary reports showed that eight shots were fired, but it wasn't known how many hit the man.
The ammo is free and we're trained to shoot until said threat is neutralized. Officer is unharmed and that's all that counts.

SLIGHTLY OFF THIS TOPIC BUT NEEDS TO BE ACTED ON QUICKLY...
IDEA, as long as there is going to be cameras everywhere that day and night why shouldn't wehave a few of our own there.
I suggest that the FOP (and PB&PA if possible) get some digital camcorders and go down to the areas and show how poorly prepared the city is to handle the crowds that Richie has invited to come down.
A recipe for disaster, a million people, no toilets, no water, hundreds of cops, no toilets, no water, traffic gridlocked, gangbangers looking for targets.
They should show there areas before the crowd gathers and what could be reasonably expected to happen here. When the shit hits the fan we would have our own record. Back at the office, they should record the radio traffic on City-wide 5, and some of the other Zones where we expect trouble.
The FOP Reps should wear body armor, helmets and jackets that say FOP. Our people should be clued in to assist and protect them.
They should interview P.O.s were you told where to go for water, or what facilities were provided and attempt to interview exempt bosses they find. If the bosses want to know who they are and why they are doing this get there name and tell them to follow the rules on a First Amendment Investigation.
We have been warning not to raise clubs, and be careful as there will be many innocent (though stupid for being there and voting Democrat) in that crowd of chaos. If our people are injured show that, if the crowd is throwing bottles show that, other wise all that will ever be seen is the Obama love fest and the bad police. This might be something to put on Youtube.com to make us look like heros and Richie look like what he is.
This could build a case for gross negligence by the city, not the police and there will be lawsuits.

Off Topic.....About a week ago, I read a post on here regarding a 1st Watch lockup keeper in 011 by the name of Birl Madden. Well this week on Tuesday, I got to experience him myself. Po Madden began insulting me because my arrest was a "cheap dope arrest." He went on to yell at me and told me I was an "oppressor" he was totally trying to coax me into a physical altercation. Well after my boiling blood cooled down, I did some research and found out that Po Madden is 61 years old knows he will have to go soon. He has been telling numerous people how he wants a lawsuit against a PO or Supervisor to help finance his retirement. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN ENCOUNTERING THIS IDIOT AND IF HE ATTEMPTS TO RIDICULE OR COAX YOU INTO AN ALTERCATION, INFORM THE WATCH COMMANDER IMMEDIATELY....IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF!
All these heroic shootings by off-duty officers. Imagine how many more criminals we would see stopped from committing their crimes if "regular people" were allowed to carry? (with training of course)
