Bad Day for Retail

Black Friday became Black & Blue Friday for some:
  • NEW YORK (AP) _ A Wal-Mart worker was killed Friday when "out-of-control" shoppers desperate for bargains broke down the doors at a 5 a.m. sale. Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers shouted angrily and kept shopping when store officials said they were closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.
And on the other coast:
On the other hand, we finished all our Christmas shopping using the miracle of the Internet, free shipping and UPS Ground. Best of all, no sales taxes for Shortshanks and Toddler to steal.

I love the city councilman from California who couldn't fathom someone with a gun at a Toys R Us.
I wish some of our elected officials would get thier collective heads out of thier asses and see what we are up against. Toy stores, family festivals, schools they do not value human life, but we have to be careful not to offend them or take away thier rights.. Whats so hard to understand, life as we knew it in America is over.

We live in a country of idiots. Hum?? Could Muslim nut jobs with guns and explosives kill several hundred people at a crowded store on Black Friday? . . . Could we make it any easier for them? I hope all of Chicago's shoppers loved paying the 10.25% sales tax too. Getting smoked by terrorists while shopping at a crowded store after I just paid 10.25% sales tax would really make the holidays for me and my family. Screw that!

95% of my shopping will be done online (and a good majority of it is done). There are some things I have to get at a department store, and I'm seriously dreading it. I hate crowds and I pretty much hate people in general - well, especially this time of year.

There's no way I would fight for any toy for my kid. That shit just isn't worth it. I know it's one thing to make your kid happy, but there's no way I'd risk my life just to have my child play with a toy for a day and that would be the end of it. My kids are too old for that crap anyway.

Ebay (IPod Touch)
Amazon (whatever)
Philadelphia Flyers (tix)
Border's
Modell's
Kohl's

All that and a zillion others can be had online and it's hassel free.

The only thing I worried about with Black Friday was what was the traffic going to be like as I made my way out the door for work. Lots of OT available and I won't be taking any days off until after Christmas unless I'm made to. Cha-ching.

Poor temp worker trampled to death by a mob bent only upon getting a good deal (before anyone else)... Just another vivid reminder that society is a fragile thing, held together by a thin blue line.

Become a member of Amazon Prime and get 2nd Day Air UPS shipping for free on everything Amazon handles. And NO sales tax! I wouldn't risk the Wal-Mart crowds, too dangerous. Not with free shipping available as close as my computer, I let my fingers do the clicking.

If Amazon sold groceries I would get them there also.

For years I have been buying my tobacco products via Internet from places in North Carolina and Virginia. Again, NO taxes to IL, Cook County or Chicago. I save almost 50% over what I would pay for cigars in Chicago.

There are millions of ways to fuck Shortshanks, you just need to use some imagination.

A TRUE SHOPPING TALE FROM GERMANY

German police are hunting a man with no arms who managed to steal a television set from an electronics store. Surveillance camera footage shows two accomplices attaching the 24 inch set to the culprits body with clamps and then ushering him out the door onto the streets of Munich. A spokesman for the police appealed for witnesses to come forward. "It's hard to believe that the sight of an armless man walking along with a giant TV clamped to his body did not get anyone's attention," he said.

My faith in the CPD has been restored. The worst we ever did, when we found a guy and gal in a car and suspected him of playing "stink finger," was request him to lick his fingers to prove he wasn't. Now, I read in the Wisconsin Dells Events, that 2 Dells cops (age 19 and 20!) forced 2 national guardsmen vacationing in the Dells to lick some suspected piss from the ground. Both the FIB's, as folks from Illinois are lovingly known in Wisconsin, did tours in Iraq, and are suing for 1.2 million.
Besides just shopping on line to avoid the nuts, is it possible to vacation on line?

I guess the city isn't looking for money anymore at this point.
Confirmed with a couple of pals in 023 & 018 that NO traffic enforcement cars have been available for Lake Shore Drive the last few weeks.
All assigned to the president elect detail. Must be true, CLTV news showed the average speed on LSD at Belmont as being 68 mph this morning at 0830 hours.
Lets see - winter speed limit is what? Subtract from 68 mph = pretty good fines in court if anybody from Traffic wrote them.

Online is the only way to go. Avoid the crowds of assholes and $ave. Cut back alot this year. Can't afford it with massive property tax hike, lack of raises , tuitions, college fund tanking with the market, etc...
Time to start saving folks. We buy groceries at Costco(Skokie),ammo at Shore (Lincolnwood), gas in Niles or Park Ridge, stuff for kids online. See, only essentials.

The last thing I bought in Chicago was an ice cream bar from the Good Humor guy at my son's baseball game in July.

SCC Use this as you see fit:

There is little if any room for political correctness on the part of TRUE leaders. Their responsibility is to "tell it like it is" so that the communities they represent are prepared to deal with problems that will inevitably arise. Many of todays police leaders have placed their own personal convenience and job security above duty. Unit that changes, the problems resulting from their silence on important issues will only grow worse.
