Police are searching for a man who escaped from the Harrison District police station this afternoon.
At about 4:40 p.m., a man who was arrested for possession of a controlled substance fled the station's lockup area located at 3151 West Harrison St., police said.
Police were searching for the suspect as of 8:10 p.m.
No further information was available.
Someone's got some 'splaining to do, Lucy.

Isn't the head police officer like the Superintendant responsibe for a prisoner escape? Maybe more should escape and he can be relieved of duty. What a farce, waaaaaaaaay overpaid in a time of financial crisis, maybe his salary could pay for the jumping gyms.

Lets get the story straight....this was a "gang" team that let an offender escape that they had for ARMED ROBBERY......not PCS. It appears that when ALL members of this team went to call the ASA for charges approved no one was left to watch the dangerous prisoner and when they returned...NO CUFFS, NO PRISONER, HE EVEN HAD TIME TO TAKE ALL HIS BELONGINGS!! What a joke!
Wait....I have an idea.....lets put this team under OCD and have them be our new AREA GANG TEAM! Take home cars all the perks! They deserve it! They are our cream of the crop!.....What a joke.

I remember an officer working 99 had a warrant arrest. Had to go up to the desk for 60sec to take a call from C/W unit. Came back to an empty interview room.

The subject was caught running from the lot.
The officer took time even though the subject was caught almost instantly.
Now you would think the FOP would help the officer by suggesting the department is partially at fault for having removed the interview room locks, and doors, and phones in a previous decade,(because some shithead alleged abuse while there!)
thereby creating an officer safety issue.

The officers raised hell and finally got a phone installed in the hallway. But the goofs (city) only had a bell line and not a pax line installed. So years later the risk of escape is still there, because officers have to go to the desk to take calls while processing prisoners.

We had a jerk like that in our station (location withheld to protect the guilty).
We set him up and he took a 15 day susp.......he has been nice ever since.

I tried getting out of that district years ago, I had to see a chinaman to get moved. I should have saved him and just walked out the door.
Yhe cameras caught his image, he was waving goodbye as he leaped to freedom.
