Frank and Fran Strike Again

Straight-up thieves is all they are. As reported on SCC two days ago, Frank Main and Fran Spielman suddenly discovered that there has been a change in City policy and ordinances:
  • Chicago businesses won't get any mercy for false burglar alarms under a new revenue gathering policy quietly approved by the city.

In the past, businesses could have up to three false alarms before fines kicked in. Now, the fine is $100 per violation right off the bat.

Whatever the Sun Times is paying Frank and Fran, they're getting ripped off. The "dead tree" media is so far gone, we expect them to be on Capitol Hill next month demanding bailouts like the Big Three automakers.

UPDATE: When we quote the media, you can hover over the link and see it says "Chicago Tribune" or "WBBM" or wherever the quote came from. Most times we even type in "From the AP" where we happen to find the story.

We credit the source. That's what we're pointing out. That's what reputable journalists and reputable bloggers do. Hell, we give credit to anonymous commentators who tip us off to interesting stories.

As a matter of fact there is a congressman or other politico out East asking for the bailout of his local rag. Heard it over the weekend while I was out there.

Every time I drop my kids off at their over priced private school school and I see the sticky strip from the alarm ticket on the window I am embarassed to be the police. The public thinks that we give these tickets to just be jag offs. Between that and coppers without common sense is it any wonder why so many people hate the police?

The shameless Fran Spielman has been tossing Daley's salad seemingly forever. You'd have to dig her tongue out of hizzoner's sphincter with a crowbar.

Main is just a garden variety pooch.

They are so transparent with their Kool aid propanganda. One has to wonder if they draw "perks" from the City for their unflinching "loyalty" to the slime at City Hall.

They both interned at the old Soviet Pravda before hooking up with the Scum-Times.

Hey SCC:

When the Dead Tree Media finally die, where will you get stories to link to, and whipping boys/girls? As semi-incompetent as the ST and Trib can be, can you imagine what Daley and Co. will get away with when there are no investigative journalists sniffing around anymore?

Like many online writers, you get to have it both ways: the DTM provide you stories to back up your positions--every gang-banger death, for instance--and you link to that. And they provide you evidence of that every columnist is a pinhead (except Kass when he agrees with you) and so you can bash them as complicit, out of touch, etc. and you link to that.

What happens when there's no DTM to link to?

ILL GUESS HOW THEY DO RESEARCH.

THEY WAKE AROUND 10 A.M MAKE AN EXPRESSO AT HOME WITH SOME OF THOSE TASTY ITALIAN COOKIES. THEY FEED THEIR DOGS AND PETS THEIR CATS.

THEY BUST OUT THE LAP TOP AND READ THE NEWS ON THE INTERNET.
THEY THEN TROWL SITES LIKE THE FOP SCC AND OTHER SPECIALIZED SITE TO STEAL IDEAS.

THEY CHECK THEIR EMAILS TO SEE IF ANYONE IS SNITCHING ON THE CITY OR STATE WITH ANONYMOUS INFO.

IF INFO IS FOUND THEY CLICK THEIR BLACK BERRY AND LOOK FOR THE SNITCHES IN VARIOUS DEPARTMENT THEY COUNT ON FOR INFO.

THEY WRITE A BULSSHIT ARTICLE THAT ABOUT 500 WORDS AND EMAIL IT TO THE EDITORS.

U WILL NOTICE IN THE ARTICLES THEY ALWAY REFER TO SOURCES BLAH BLAH.
IT IS EASIER NOT TO GIVE CREDIT THEN AND NOBODY CAN CALL THEM OUT ON BULLSHIT!

IF THEY DONT HAVE ANY IDEAS THEY HAVE A BUNCH OF SAVED ARTICLES IN THEIR COMPUTERS WITH THING LIKE POTHOLES AND CRIME.

Off topic, but did anyone read the Secret Service article in Sunday's Parade Magazine? A former Secret Service Agent states, "Cops are trained to retreat when gunfire starts, but the Secret Service has to stand tall and go into the gunfire."

Except for Tribune columnist John Kass, it should be called the "dead head" media, not the "dead tree" media.

City Hall could publish their press releases directly and eliminate most of the so called columnists jobs at the Sun Times.

SCC and Officers and other commentators on this Blog,

Look at this another way.

You have become a source, an important source to cut through the crap that is being put out or not publicized at all. This is important. I suggest keeping count of the stories you know you've broken, and just let it be. I understand that the pro journalists should cite you if they are being fair, or quoting directly, but you know:

Your purpose, aim, goal in writing your blog certainly has had to change overtime. "Sarcasm and Silliness" has made way for pointed commentary and exposure of some rather profound issues in our city. You now know that whatever you write here, gets a big audience.

When they steal your stories, chin up. Its the sincerest form of flattery.

In the olden days the hacks, stringers, and press would hang in the cop bars, or the grills, or the gyms and get the scoops there. Among the obvious difference then was that maybe you'd get a free beer or something.

Frank and Fran should at least have the courtesy to comment in the SC Blog, "thanks for the scoop" or something to that affect. The internet has made journalists lazy, they don't know how to source info anymore, its also turned everyone into a journalist, thank God the print media no longer has the upper hand, bloggers like you do !

Believe it or not we need newspapers. How do you think they got the word about the false burglar alarms? Someone had to tell them. Then they had to confirm, then print. They still get a much wider readership than this blog. They help keep the scum politicians accountable. Don't be against them, use them, readers of SCC will not always like what is in the Sun-Times but the City would be worse off without them. Co-exist. I the past their best sources on police stories were always, guess who, coppers. Still holds true.

Administrative Notice of Ordinance Violation, a ticket for violations of City Code. not parking tickets but adjudicated through the same Department of Revenue.

No more freebies. Fines from number one false alarm.

Frank and Fran did us a service, they put in print, for the public, the end of the False Burglar Alarm tickets. That is something the City tried to keep quiet. That is what newspapers are for: wider distribution of information.

This blog and some of it's contributors are great sources. Add to the distribution of information, don't condemn the Sun-times, use them as they use you, unite when you have common purpose, throw the rag in the cat box when you don't like what's in it.

Random thought...
SCC, I think in your byline of this "story" on the change in status of BA tickets, you implored the media to "look into this..." Well, they did. So don't blast them for it. Lots of business owners I'm sure are grateful for the "heads up."
Regarding Shields taking another job...is that any different from what Grau recently did? And if not, what's the harm in it? His experience as an exempt is considerable, and apparently of little worth to Weis and his pitiful inner circle. I for one wouldn't fault Shields at all if he chose to pack up and leave the CPD, which now stands as a poor shadow of what it formally was, both in reputation and in performance by its members.
Frank Main has written any stories in which our good works have received a favorable light. Don't bash him when he's got to report our embarassments (and there have been numerous). It's ALL news, folks!

He wept the tears of the caught and convicted felon. He used the old criminal's refrain, "If I did something wrong, I'm sorry. Forgive me."

Excuse me Mr. "let all the illegals in to the US to steal OUR social services" but you DID do something illegal, you did many things illegal you phony criminal cock sucker. Not the least of which was raking in over $180,000 a year of ill gotten gains in your fake passport picture studio. Ever hear of the IRS? income taxes? Form 1040? You know, the things that we real citizens have to do?

"He was up to his eyeballs in this for years and years and years," argued Assistant U. S. Attorney Andrew Porter.

And on top of that, the Tribune story continues: "The ring's leaders are being tried for murder for allegedly ordering that a competitor be shot to death in Mexico."

Senor Munoz, "If" you did something illegal? That's not showing much contrition. Ask your padre in jai about contrition next time you make a good confession.

Adios Senor Munoz, enjoy your time in prison and then hopefully enjoy your government paid plane ride back to Mexico.

My father came here from the old country too. He got a job. He worked with my grandfather shoveling coal many years ago. He did all sorts of things, none of them illegal.

I have no pity for you Senor Munoz, I am sure your sons will fly down to Mexico for family reunions. And please, this time, if you get deported, stay the hell out of my country.

Los Estados Unidos son mi paĆs!

The City wants us to forgo retro payments (Basically a wage freeze) in exchange for free medical from the time you are 55, if you so choose to work until that age. The problem with is that the free medical is only for the member, the spouses and dependents would still have to be paid for separately.
This is not a deal, the City is fucking us and the union (bargaining body) is letting this happen.

Yes we do have a simulator...... Remember that strange looking trailer like thing parked behind the academy years ago??? Then they moved it and created a room in the basement of the academy by the range. You went into the room, with 2 range instructor's, they gave you different scenario's that played out on a large screen, you are given a beretta hand gun which is a non functioning one, with a laser attached to it. Your voice commands dictate what happens in the scenario as the range instructs manipulate the action on the screen do to your voice commands or lack there of. There is shielding in there to hide behind, as well as barrels etc... The machine/screen even shoots little bb's at you. You are then scored on what you did and how you did it and in the amount of time you did it, along with your firing ability in how many bad guys you shot in the scenario and how many civilian's you shot (if you are a poor shot). I suggest you call the range and verify this if you don't believe us

So that 16th dist Sgt is saying.........

Go lock up bad guys. If they try to get away we won't try to catch them. don't most bad guys try to get away? can we get credit for an arrest even though a Sgt calls it off if they are going to be holding us accountable? I hope the bad guys don't figure out all you need to do is drive off. I am moving from 16 and moving to 11 wear it's safe!

re: 16th Dist. Sunday night PSMV car chase, off. flees into Schiller woods on foot. Search and dogs cancelled after 10 min. by Sgt. "It's only for a hot car", like you're chasing homicide offenders all day or something?

*********************************

whos the officer who broke general order and kept chasing for a hot car. the sarge is right to stop a car chase when its a hot car. g.o. states that there will be no chasing just for psmv... and who cares if they have a stolen car, the victim is never gonna show up in court anyway. im all for catching the bad guys, but try not to take it so personal buddy, i guess a hot car is a huge deal for you up in 016...i think theres alot of other things you should be focusing on up there

O.T, I apologize....

Is it true that Pres. Elect Moses is appointing his wifes cousin Lt. M.S. (FORMER DEP. SUP.) the U.S. Marshall for the Northern District of Illinois, if so this is a complete throwback to old time politics, and Moses should be ashamed....

Lt. M.S. hasn't at least had the decency to show up at his new command since his dumping, while the convicted sex offender running A/3 V/C has had the decency to show up....

Come on, we know the media monitors this blog, ask the Pres. Elect about the appointment....

Stop hating. He is qualified no matter what you try to say, he HAS the history at all levels of CPD. You also SHOULD surround yourself with people you trust. Name 1 boss who direct staff that impacts him directly is not one of their own people. Why should the President do any less?

Hater

PS
I don't care for MS and I am glad they did to him what helped do to soo many that ended up humiliated and suicidal. CPD never wants to talk about that!
