Retro Calculator

Over at a site called "Five Frank." It has a couple of interesting programs and a retro calculator at this link here.

The numbers are derived from an average of the last known city offer and the last publicized FOP proposal. A nice look at what might be if all comes down on our side.

We do not need a calculator cause anything multiplied by zero is zero. There I said now roll it around in your mouth a little bit and let me know how you feel.
It is time for high pressure these are the most important negotiations of all of our careers.

It amazes me that I never hear anyone talk about the life expendency for police officers. Live an average of 6-8 years less than non-police (men & women even though most studies are male). This is due to many factors one of which is stress and was Chicago the number one city for stress!!!!!! Most jobs that include driving over 60% of you normal work schedule are also given hazard pay ( usually an 4 - 5 % of your hourly rate) and it is usually higher in bigger cities. That is also considered normal driving not responding to calls for help and having to go lights and sirens which raises the stress level. How about the stress of divorces police officers 2nd highest among occupations. So many factors that are never mentioned or even thought about during contract talks. Police Officers are like mutants and are not able to lead normal lives like so many others!!!!!! Just saying!!!

Easy retro calculator: Take the figure you think you should be owed, multiply that by 5%, take the 5 % then subtract 35% taxes, the result is your likely retro pay.

Example: wished for retro: 1,000, times 5% equals $50, minus 35$ leaves around $32 retro. Wasn't that easy?

Now stop wasting time with mental masturbation, you will get what you get, don't go borrow against it. it will be what it will be. don't count your retro before you get it, if any.

Great. Except that we haven't got anything and likely won't get anything above what the City offered.

I do NOT want this going to arbitration. We finally, after many years, have a chance to get off the 6/2 work schedule and going to arbitration so some cash poor cops get a lousy couple of thousand more on their retro is a poor excuse to throw the alternate work schedule overboard.

And that is exactly what will happen if we go to arbitration. We've waited this long, we can wait some more and see what happens. My vote is NO to arbitration.

I think a " how long will the pension last" calculator would be a better subject. 45% funded at the end of this year, my guess. Worry about the $2000 of some retro meanwhile you have a hundred thousand or so in the pension fund. Times have changed.

"Live an average of 6-8 years less than non-police "

The last retirement seminar (october) I went to had new information: If you survive the first year after retirement-your life expectancy increases to the same expectancy of the average joe. Why impart this info to us at the seminar? To give us a clue that we might live a lot longer and need to prepare better than we are.

How many times do you see a copper obit and the guy just retired 6 months ago?

Think about it....

This Dept is a joke! There are way too many a-holes like you around. Last I checked we all wear blue, but you gotta let everyone know you're a bitter dinosaur. How about you share some of your expertise with us rather than spend all your time trying to tell us how we are F'ups. Now I see why my Dad didn't want me to follow in his footsteps, bitter do-nothings like you!!! Why we cant come together and work together? It should "Us vs Them" not "New vs Old." Remember, you were a F.N.G. too, 100yrs ago.

Thanks for the hard work SCC, 5F has quite a few nice features.

Keep in mind, over the last 3 contracts what we have actually gotten as opposed to what we demanded.
It seems to err on the side of the city in every instance.

I went right over to the Credit Union to see a loan officer and asked for a retro-pay anticipation loan. They had to call the paramedics because the loan officer hit her head on the desk after falling over from laughing so hard. I didn't get a final answer on the loan. I will try again tomorrow.

SPEAKING OF MONEY:
At roll call today the boss mentions writing meter violations. Didn't our Mayor just sell the meter rights to a private company? Now meters have to be fed 24/7. So you want me as a servant of the people of the city of Chicago to write Meter violations for meters that are owned/operated and collect all the profits for a PRIVATE COMPANY?
Also you want City Employee's to issue violations for a PRIVATE COMPANY on City paid time???
I DON'T THINK SO!!!
THIS JUST SOUNDS WRONG!!!
CONFLICT OF INTEREST!!!
BTW If the city was collecting this new added revenue over a 100 year period I'm pretty sure that it would equal over the BILLION Dollars the mayor got for the meters!
IF THE CITY SELLS ALL IT'S ASSETS THAT GENERATE REVENUE WHAT WILL WE DO IN 5 OR 10 YEARS????
DOES THE CITY EVEN GET A CUT OF THE REVENUE???

TOOL ! , uninformed as usual. The City still gets 100% of revenue generated by tickets NOT the private company. They only get monies generated by the meter itself.. find another reason to be a dog

Geeeez, If you have not figured it out by now I will spell it out ofr you!

WE WILL NEVER GET OFF THE 6 DAY WORK WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time the contract comes up people start screeming about the 6 day work week. The City starts a pilot program in a few units. This shuts up all the complainers.

The contract gets setteled and we go back to the 6 day work week!

We have been donig the pilot programs for ten fucken years now. Why the hell do we need to do another Pilot? WE DON"T!

The Pilot program is just a PACIFIER! If the contract gets settled, no more pilot for 6 years!

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

THE CITY PAYS INSURANCE FOR THE EARLY RETIREES?

JUST A GUESS, THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GIVE UP SOMETHING BE PREPARED FOR ALL THOSE CR NUMBERS FROM THE PAST TO BE ABLE TO BE RE-OPENED 2. THE REASON BEING MOST OFFICERS FEEL THAT THEY WILL NEVER BE THROWN UNDER THE BUS BY THE CITY. SOOOOO EVERY ONE FIGURES THEY R GOING TO RETIRE EARLY.

The proper question you should be asking is what kind of asshole would believe a post like that to be anything other than what it is, police humor.

I will try to get a car title loan on my '92 Chevy Impala instead. That should be worth more than my retro check anyway.

The pilot programs were generated by the FOP-there are three versions. In an ideal world- several districts would adopt different schedules so we could have some chioces.

Economic reality-which program elminates 25 captain's salaries and benefit packages? 10 hour days...coming to all the districts near you.
