Blago Tapes to be Released

Monday promises to be a fun filled day when the government releases portions of the Blago tapes:
  • Days before Gov. Blagojevich was charged with trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, top Senate Democrat Harry Reid made it clear who he didn’t want in the post: Jesse Jackson, Jr., Danny Davis or Emil Jones.

Rather, Reid called Blagojevich to argue he appoint either state Veterans Affairs chief Tammy Duckworth or Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Sources say the Senate majority leader pushed against Jackson and Davis — both democratic congressmen from Illinois — and against Jones — the Illinois Senate president who is the political godfather of President-elect Barack Obama — because he did not believe the three men were electable. He feared losing the seat to a Republican in a future election.

So it looks like there is tape with the head of the US Senate pressuring Blago to move a certain direction on the seat-selling-scandal. Reid isn't alleged to have done anything wrong, but being dragged into the political cesspool of Illinois politics isn't anything to celebrate.

Kass has an amusing set of letters linking Patti Blago to Rezko to Obama and all tied together by none other than Roland Burris.

Well, it actually sounds like Harry Reid was doing the right thing and has a good handle on the situation, if this is true.

The business of government had to continue, whether Rod and Madigan were at odds, whether Rod and Mell were speaking, whether Rod and Daley were sparring (or not). And a MAJOR political decision was in play. It is not a crime to call your governor and tell him your opinion on the matter.

Let's see how it plays out. (Can't wait to see Kass' column, though.)

I have been telling my liberal friends that obama is just a product of the democratic machine of Chicago and they politely smile and ignore me. They, like the liberal media was drawn to obama's good looks and speech making abilities like a bug to the bug zapper! I love that this is going to blow up on them and expose to the nation what a corrupt city we live in!

Releasing even the worst taped material isn't going to move Rod an inch. He's riding this one down all the way and taking Illinois with. There's no sense of shame in todays politicians. They're bought and sold and leased, like commodities. Leaving it up to their own, or the executive branch, to keep them in line isn't enough. I think we need term limits so they don't invest themselves in an office and refuse to leave. It's clear that the "benefits" of being Governor (for example) are far better than the "pay." And Yes Roland, you are 'Tainted.'

Boy, Reid is dumber than he looks. ANYONE is electable in Chicago if they get the blessing. Does he think we have real elections here?? Please.

Blago needs to take a class in probability and statistics and weigh the amount of people who enter the Fed Building to face the music and are found or plead guilty vs those who walk out with a ng verdict. Staggering odds. p.s. \never liked the goof.

He did the right thing by interfering? A democrat told another democrat which democrats he did and didn't want for a house seat because he feared losing it to a republican... yeah, a good handle on things... the Chicago way.

Let's see how it plays out? How about the indictment of Reid for using his office to influence the governor's decision?

96% plead out.

Of those who go to trial, 2% are found guilty.

2% are acquitted.

That makes his odds even.

Oh, and for those not in the know, that 96% plead out because the feds stack multiple charges, file the most severe ones they can stretch the truth to fit and, in conjunction with the majority of like minded judges, threaten the accused with incredibly excessive incarceration terms, to, effectively, extort guilty pleas and 'cooperation'.

Give the guvna' credit for, so far, standing up to the feds extortion efforts.

And pray that you never have to face what officer Cozzi is facing now.

So that two bit cheezy Harry Reid (D-NV) thinks he should decide who my Senator should be? Funny, I thought we lived in a democracy and the electorate chose its leaders. I know thats not the case in Chicago and Cook County which is why I do not live in either. But he wanted Tammy Duckworth to be my Senator? Isn't this the woman who could not get elected into office? And to the first poster on this topic from a private citizen: You are a supreme Bozo Asshat!

I like Kass's hair. I like Madigan's hair. I like Snethen's hair. But Blago's, Mell's, and maybe that guy Reids hair, could be hair-hats from the three-piece wig set in question. I'm not sure.

Reid just did the math.

He knows Obama's senate election in 2004 was the result of freak circumstances. They prefer to go with liberal,pro-abortion, females who they can spin as "fighting for working families" without all the racial baggage.

Its a safe bet and keeps the seat Democratic.

The US is officially a republic, not a democracy. Tammy Duckworth is much better than Roland Burris. :)

Blago should be allowed to serve out his full term. Let his loyalists see his face on tv daily, so they can be reminded of what not to repeat in 2010. :)
