Know Your Key Date

  • Members should be aware that the Chicago Police 2009 Operations Calendar has had a major change this year. Traditionally, an officers Misd/Ordinance Key was listed on the left side of each date box while the officer's Traffic Court Key was listed on the right side of each date box. This year the Department decided to reverse these keys. The Misd/Ordinance key is on the right and the Traffic Court Key is on the left.
And we bet we know exactly why the Department did this - to increase the number of suspension days given out to "save" money for the Olympic dream.

What a way to nickel-and-dime the boys and girls.

Hey if they want to save money make the stupid traffic court for the minor BS optional! If violator wants to plead not guilty send me a date otherwise I'd rather not waste a day traveling down there for nothing. Not like I "remember" only to have to wait an hour for the round of "yes you rolled the stop sign, no I didn't crap".

I don't think it was intentional, SCC. Please remember that since February 1st of '08, we've had nothing short of complete morons running things over at 3510. I'm sure this just another of a long string of oversights by the new regime.

O.T I would like to see the news cover the number of guns recovered from the "model" citizens of the south and west sides over New Years. I know they only like to do stories bashing police who shoot an "allegedly" armed offender. It would be nice to shed some light on the animals we deal with.

Sure it's nice when traffic or misd court takes 15 minutes. But more than often it takes upwards of an hour. When you add travel time to & from court in addition to prep time (you know, to look all pretty first thing in the morning) you're actually losing time.

Remember kids, it's your TIME...your LIFE!

Despite how much I like my job, I cannot neglect my family or friends for this job. 8 hours, 6 days a week is too much already!

If you do you'll be just another in a long line of miserable people albeit with a bunch of "time" on the books.

Even if you don't have friends or family get a hobby, participate in some recreational sport, go to the gym, read, ect. You need a life outside of this Dept!

Lets call this a hypothetical situation, You, a FULL TIME CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER, has a part-time, working as a College Campus Police Officer. While you are working your part-time, a call comes out of “Shots fired/man with gun with a description of the offender”, you respond, see the Offender, put him on the wall, and start to go through him. Out of nowhere, a Female comes right into your business, while you are frisking the alleged offender, and attempts to toss in her $.02, and hamper your investigation, and compromise your safety. You, the part time police officer for the campus, gives this female a shove, and tell her to get back. She, in her wisdom, punches you in the head, and backs away quickly. As you turn towards her, to give out some “just desserts”, she then identifies herself as an “on duty Chicago Police Officer”.

What do you think should happen?

Call the police, make out a case report with her as the offender, have a supervisor make a decision as to her actions, get a C.R. # on her and then explain to her that a star is not a suit of armor and that you ARE the police and SHE should have gotten an asswhipping for interfering in your job. She probably is a house mouse and doesn't know what she i doing anyway. By the attitude, can i guess that she is an F/1 ? No, I'm not doing the profile thing, I'm just stating my opinion on who might act like that in the given "hypothetical" situation.

I don't have my FOP book either. I called and they told me they will mail me another one. One week later, NO F'n FOP BOOK!

AS FOR THE brass asses at 3510:

You read these posts. You lurk. You know that morale sucks. Yet, you unkown male/female offenders continue to find little ways to ruin the morale of the boys and girls in blue.

AND even if this calendar thing is a fucking mistake, no one over their has the courage to fess up. Well, like many other officers, I won't get my court dates mixed up or confused because I won't be going to court. As far as I can tell the citizens of this fair city have been doing a pretty good job at improving their driving skills and signed complaints by victims means they attend court, not me.

All of you bosses at 3510 have the power to turn this around, but your precious spots mean more to you than doing the right thing. So, write your own frickin tickets and use your own police powers, if you remember how.

The boys and girls in blue are definitely through!

Hypothetical Situation:
What would happen if the situation was reversed? If it was a female on duty campus cop and some male sticks his .02C in and then punches the female? Everyone would be calling to give the male an ass-whoopin!!! The female deserves the same response, hate to say it buy that is why the CR process is there, not that they would hammer this chic anyway. She probably got a number on the male for hurting her hand....

An off duty police officer should be compelled to assist another copper or campus security guard(whether she knows he's cpd or not). It's unfortunate the way coppers are treated while doing side jobs.

The head of felony review insists that agg batt to p.o. will not be approved to any officer working side job because they are working as security guards. Officers, use caution on side jobs and call for backup. On duty coppers: DON'T BLOW OFF YOUR CO-WORKERS AS THEY TRY TO MAKE MOPNEY FOR THEIR FAMILIES. BACK EACHOTHER UP.

As one that works a lot of side jobs, I've noticed that the old timers will do anything to blow you off if you have an arrest. Some back up you are! It's disgraceful. It's a signed complaint arrest. Do your flippin job already there oldtimer. Save your b.s. war stories for someone who will believe them!

God Bless the younger guys who actually come through for eachother. That's truly "having a coppers back." I'm not at this stinkin sidejob cuz I like to work, I need to pay my freakin bills!!

While you have your pistol in his back and just slamed him against that wall. Meanwhile a on duty Chicago Tactical Officer Just like you are when you are not working your part time tries to tell you that they just spoke with the victim who stated that that is not the offender, who fled in a vehicle. So instead of backing off from any further abuse of this citizen who was just walking home from the bus you push the officer and punch her. After being struck she defends herself and cleans your clock with a left hook. Now I ask you should you just say wow sorry I did not know you were the police shake hands and end it there or shake hands and later go and do paper to jam everyone there up. You decide.

Actually, she is one of those "I got 3 years on, I know EVERYTHING" Tact-wonders. Who was in plain-clothes at the time of the incident.

As for the F/1-2-3-4-5... I'd hope that Race isint an issue, but... Lets just say, her race, and the race of the other Officer are NOT the same. Then there is the Commander issue. Her and the Commander are the same race, and she was braught into the Dist, and put on Tact by said Commander.

She should be fired but my life experince tells me its a F/1 and the race card will be played and she may even be promoted or given a better spot. White coppers get iindicted minorities receive a pass or its perceived as an accident.

In other cases, I have been urged to look harder at the allegations in an effort to sustain and suspend the accused. WTF.

There is a General Order on a Police Officer interfering with an official investigation. If we didn't currently have a fake Supt. and no supervisory staff to speak of, you might have a leg to stand on. Ask Sonia Irwin, former CPD. She is currently housed in the joint for just such activity. But we had honest, smart bosses at the time. Not a reject from the Feds letting the mafioso call the shots.
