Nice Arrests

Even in this day and age of no contract, poor equipment, little support and near-constant beatings in the media, cops still go out and do the job, day after night after day:
  • Two men arrested in a West Side shooting last Wednesday have been linked to an unsolved 2008 murder. A third man sought in the murder has also been apprehended and charged, police announced Sunday.

The Chicago Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Unit, along with Harrison District officers arrested the men for their alleged involvement in a West Side shooting last week. That investigation led to the men being charged with first-degree murder in an October 2008 homicide, according to a Chicago Police Department statement.

According to the article, these were some hard core pieces of garbage killing other pieces of garbage, so we're sure we're going to hear a bunch of, "Who cares?" But somewhere deep down, everyone likes to lock up a shooter, regardless of the victim. And these were chased right after a shooting, apprehended dirty and connected to a couple of other shootings.

Nice job to all involved.

FRITCHEY GETS CAMPAIGN CASH FROM BLAGOJEVICH FUNDRAISER, WIFE IN EMANUEL RACE
Posted by Dan Mihalopoulos 10:35 p.m.

Milan Petrovic, who was listed as Gov. Rod Blagojevich's top campaign fundraiser at a political corruption trial last year, recently gave $2,400 to the congressional fund of state Rep. John Fritchey (D-Chicago), according to federal campaign finance reports filed today.

Fritchey also reported receiving another $2,400 from Petrovic's wife, Anne.

That's Nonsense. Was there, the dumb fuck opened fire while and 11 district squad, was at the light at Augusta and Cicero, incident happen at the Citgo Gas Station, it was also caught on the servaillience video, pump 3 I believe it was. Fucktard Manning walked up to the car smiled at them knowing who it was opened fire and unloaded, as "vic" another gang banger, was with his gf and kid. Well squad, actually witnessed the shooting, offender Manning jumped into the vehicle, as him and his group gut out, heading east bound on Augusta, squad went aft. them and were caught a couple of blocks down.

Don't me wrong they never froze or anything like that and did a great job, but it wasn't "New Gang Enforcement" that had shit to with it. It was right time, right place, know abt. by P.O. working. They found the guns on the guys aft. the arrest, and A4 Dicks, were good at getting a confessions, especially since, were informed that two of the guns were the same used in the shootings in October. Real bright, was a suspect and then get caught with the actual murder weapon. Hey their criminals, never said they were honor students.

Info from other units including gang intelligence along with not having to listen to the radio or worry about radio assignments and the majority of beat cops could catch these guys. Try doing these high profile arrests while in a backlog so YES this is a useless unit.

Yes, a team from gangs actually put their cuffs on Pee-Wee and Double J but Bob and his partner are the reason these dudes are off the street.

Hold on a second... First of all, PATROL officers from 011 on viewed the shooting at Cicero and Augusta and then started the vehicle pursuit. A TON of cars immediately responded to the pursuit route. Dude turns a corner at 100 mph and crashes into a tree right in front of some Gang Enforcement and they get two of the three bad guys as they fall down on the scene and in the alley! The one who got away was found hiding by PATROL!

Regarding the second (as you call it) high profile arrest by Gang Enforcement. The information on where to find the offender was given to them by Gang Investigations who were busy surveilling one of the other offenders. Gang Enforcement has good people and crumby people just like all the units. Just know that these arrests were CPD arrests not Gangs or Patrol or just one unit.

Maybe the reason that Shortshanks is looking so weary and nervous lately is that he knows that the Feds are closing in on him. He knows that Blago and Patti are talking deals. That Harris knows too much. That his phones are tapped and that his bodyguards may be double agents.

That things are too far gone for even Obama to save his ass, except maybe as a pardon in 2012.

I am interested if any of the posters here have children that go to Mt Greenwood Public School. The reason I ask is that I have children that go to the local Catholic School (SC) and the quality of teaching has noticeably decreased in the past couple of years. The Principal blows the parents off and is generally disinterested in the students.

I am considering transferring them to Mt Greenwood for the next school year as I, and many other parents I talk to at the school, feel that we are not getting our moneys worth.

Thanks for any replies.

I will tell you, you will not go wrong. Your first problem will be with SC, they (SC) are getting fed up with the CCD kids playing the sports and not having to pay tuition (except for football players). So, you will deal with some backlash there and it is starting to grow stronger. (Keep in mind, that as long as you are in CCD/REP, the Church says your child CAN play sports. Just some angry, jealous old time Mount Greenwood types who are raising hell about this).

Now, as far as school goes - you can not do any better unless your kids go to Keller. I know all of the QM, SC, CAJ, SJF people will chime in, but they are just going to be biased, not open minded. Your kids will do a lot better, and learn a lot more. It is hard for all of us who went to Catholic school as kids to open up and realize that we did not learn anything more/less than the other kids, at least in grade school. High school - different story, but that is not our topic today.

MG, and the principal, Mrs. Reidy, have done A LOT, there are not too many "outside" kids enrolled anymore. She has cleaned up that crap - no longer do you get to live at 103rd and Racine and go to MG. If more people sent there kids to MG, it would look more like the neighborhood itself. I would say it is about 85% the correct way, and a lot of the other 15% are special needs kids in the LD classes. The more that send their kids there, the more we will go on to being a 90% correct school.

I have come across a lot of parents who are now saving the grade school tuition and placing it in an account for high school, because sadly, there is no CPS option for your son/daughter there. Send them to CPS for high school and you're taking a huge risk - is it worth it? NO, not in my book. I would not even send my kid to Young, I'll just work special and pay for Marist.

You will not be sorry you made the switch. SC people will harp on me, but they know it too, the school is way too crowded and the teachers are not certified and not the best things for your children. Yo are not getting what you pay for.

Good luck, hope this helps you, and maybe will see you at a school event next year.

keep watching the supts office as he will continue to publicize every arrest made by gangs, and if it wasnt made by them he'll say it was - just to make it look as if hes done something right and as if the gang unit is single handedly the answer to the citys problems

Q of M also has an accelerated reading program which all students must participate in--my guy hated reading but since he is forced to read books and then tested on them he has started to enjoy reading--i have found him in his room reading on his own without even being told--its truly amazing!

My Dick is bigger than your dick. Guys who gives a fuck. YOu all sound like a bunch of tools. A real policeman doesnt need any accolades or pats on the back. All that matters is these guys are in custody! Good job to the officers involved. Let it go brothers.

"A great job by all PO's regardless of assignment." - 3/2; 9:36 PM

Agreed.

However, but for the 11th Dist. rapid car that "on viewed" the shooting at Cicero and Augusta and gave chase via Zone 10, this fine pinch would not have occurred, certainly not within minutes of the shooting.

Contrary to the Sun-Times article link (compare paragraphs 2 & 7), the story should have read that the 11th District was assisted by GEU, not vice versa, in making these outstanding arrests. Also credit Area 4 HGS with linking the offenders to the uncleared homicide in 010.

You must agree that district patrol is the heart and soul of the CPD. In this situation, 011 takes a back seat to no one. Outstanding teamwork by all involved.

RE:
Mt. Greenwood school vs. Catholics

It kills me to say it (I was brainwashed w/ "you gotta go to Queen of Martyrs, St. Catherine's, or St. Christina" for a lot of years) however, if you live in the neighborhood and you're curious GO TAKE A TOUR of the school. Yet the real reason to go there is in the grades.

Check the entrance exams for Marist or Brother Rice and let THAT ALONE make your decision. Every kid at Mt. Greenwood school gets in and more than a 1/3 of the Catholic grade school kids that take the entrance test are taking summer school to make the cut for the freshman class. Of course you could send your kid to St. Rita, STL or Carmel and get in with no problem but the topic is grades.

As for the principal Mrs. Reidy, She comes off rough and she runs the school with a whip. I think it's a little to much, but I'm happy overall with the results in the grades.

As for the makeup of the school, 1st - 5th is 99.9% m/2 & f/2's. and every year the school is 100% filled with neighborhood kids so in 3 yrs it will be 99.9% 2's.

Don't believe me go there at dismissal (1345 hrs and see for yourself).

Says who?

All officers deserve praise for outstanding police work. I hope you're not a supervisor. By your own statement, you'd be a poor leader and motivator. Add to that the fact that CPD morale is nonexistent.

Keep in mind that old Area 5 hook between Rick Flair and your boss. Gangs will always be jumping in during this administration.

It doesn't take any particular skill for a boss in a specialized unit to phone the Sun-Times city desk with an "exclusive", then grandstanding to give his unit top billing over the beat cops that made it happen.

It makes one wonder if GEU's basic diet consists of pissers, brown baggers, one rockers and "dispersals".
