A humorous story in the Tribune...if you are amused political insiders cashing in big time:
- When President Barack Obama moved into the White House earlier this year, he took several of his fellow Chicago millionaires with him.
Newly released disclosure reports show virtually all of the top Chicagoans serving in the West Wing had assets valued at a million dollars or more at the end of 2008.
In several cases, the reports provide the first detailed look at the finances of some of the president's top aides and friends from Chicago who have risen with him. They also show the salary haircut many have taken to be in the White House, at least until they return to the private sector.
Funny how all the people listed are one and two degrees of separation from the Chicago Machine and all the graft and political favoritism that comes with it.

So I guess along with tax fraud, Obama is condoning gambling in the white house?!?! What does this say to our youth? That gambling is "ok, only if the President and his staff engage in it"??? The Tribune needs to keep hammering away at this story. How long did each person work at the CTA, Peoples Gas, etc? How did their salaries compare to the salaries of the average employee at these companies? What about time actually spent at work? How do their pensions compare to those of the average worker?
What about Michelle Obama? Is she still collecting money from the U of C? They just laid off a couple of hundred workers.
They're all children of privilege. They have nothing in common with the people who voted for Obama. When will the Obama voters realize that Barack has no magic wand?
I was just thinking the other day when I heard what I thought was President Obama giving out a toll-free automobile service warranty phone number to the White House that this guy is taking a page out of the Mayor Daley playbook of enlarging and controlling as many targeted government agencies as fast as possible so as to build a patronage army and cast as large a network of graft as possible.
Regarding the TIF monies, the lack of educating the citizens on the part of the television and print media would be astounding if it were not for the fact that the Chicago media has been in the tank for the combine for decades.
Seems to me, the purpose of our so called aldermen and media is to hold accountable those who abuse power.
Yet, all the two public watch dogs who have been MIA do is stand around holding there dicks in there hands playing ignorant of almost a billion dollars of TIF money that is unaudited and at the control of a guy who is surrounded by a whole lot of people caught breaking the law and who have been sent to or are on there way to jail.
Oh yea, once in a while the'll make brief mention of these apalling Daley characteristics but they'll report them as an aside, they do not make it there business to really expose the public to the travesty of child shootings in the city, TIF funds unnacounted for and a really pissed off police force due to a lack of a contract and political influence in the management of there pensions, all the result of -- hello? -- mayoral mis-management or outright thievery.
Rather, the drive by, sippy-cup, Chicago media stears clear of holding the council of eunechs and Daley accountable by repeated investigation and reporting and putting direct questions on live TV to the mayor and council on these matters.
Nope we get lots of reporting on Oprah and the Olympics and the FUBAR that is the result of the Chicago parking meter sale (to more insiders probably).
If America wants to see what the Presidents modus operandi of governing will be, all they need do is talk to us Chicagoians.
Lastly, is it just me or does it piss off anyone else how all the President men are "ahhhhh" speakers: Gibbs and Axelrod are always saying. "aaaahhh".

Just about every person in my life who has spoke "aaahhh-ish" has been someone more concerned with communicating in a couched, protective and manipulative manner then being honest and sincere. It's like they have so much to be afraid of letting slip out they have to constantly appear to be saying something while saying nothing.
