What's That Smell?

A big thanks goes out to the Chicago Park District and Mayor Shortshanks for dumping about four tons of horse manure into the flower beds around Adler Planetarium the day before a few thousand cops showed up for the St. Jude March. It certainly lent an memorable smell to the event.

The timing couldn't have been more suspicious, but we don't expect much from the mayor after his most recent lies and memory lapses concerning the contract talks. He's already demonstrated his complete lack of manners and civility where the police are concerned.

But an excellent showing by the police once again for the Gold Star families.

last year it was the port-o-pottys, this year horse manure. Next year, it'll be more campaign promises!

He disrespected the CPD and even more the Gold Star families. I hope they right letters to him.
Without any doubt it was done intentionally. How about some letters to the newspapers. Why not throw some manure on 95th Street so the flowers at Trinity Church will grow. We'd sure see that in the paper.

If you had stayed home, you wouldn't have to smell the horse shit! We should have all pitched in $20 for the families of the fallen police officers and marched around city hall in our own parade. Our FLOP union has no balls and doesn't give a fuck about the regular coppers. They are only worried about their cushy jobs!!!!!!!!!

He realizes he cant get our votes. But at least wear a tie and shave if you show up in dress uniform. Come on! And I'm talking about some sgts and above too! Thought one cmdr was going to drown with all the sweat coming off of her fat face. Our guys died wear our uniforms and stars-so honor them. it isnt a slapp the back drinking feast. To all that looked squared away-I was very proud to be there-Semper Fi

The media totally blew off this march just like the mayor has for years. Bring back Michigan Ave. Marching on a bike path? Parking sucks. If you family members with disabilities, they would have a hard time getting and moving about there.

NOT many..only families..Did any one notice that the units marching by were unending?? the Districts marched by less than 20 minutes?? and the units kept coming?? WE NEED MORE MANPOWER IN THE DISTRICTS!!!Anyone notice how small the turnout was for some districts?? I dont know if is was a bad turnout or there is NO manpower there! JFed you are the worst! please quit!

CPD is not alone, Oak Lawn has been at the mercy of camera crews from "speeders" for several weeks. Then "speeders strikes back" holds phony hearings with our version of short-shanks presiding over b-s "warning tickets" He then orders an Officer in uniform to put on a bra over his uniform for the cameras & the dumb-ass does it!!!!! He desecrates the uniform of ALL Police Officers!!!!! 99.9% of us in OLPD are sickened & disgusted by this action & the fact that the Mayor treats OL like its his little playground....... My heartfelt apologies to ALL Officers in uniform if this makes it on the air.........

What you fail to understand is, the PRIDE is GONE. It's been eaten away under the almost total
politicizing of the CPD...more civilian hacks running this job now than ever before, and they don't even hide it, it's all there, right in your face!

To the person who wrote this you are a Jag. I wont call you a P.O. because you dont deserve it. The St Jude march is not about you or me or the contract it's about my fallen brothers and sisters. If you don't want to join the several thousand of us who do show respect to our police family just shut up do your 20 years behind a desk and quit. You probably don't understand what it's all about maybe you should go once and see it in person.

You guys give way to much credit for these alleged evil deeds to the mayor. He bearly thinks of us. I for one like the parade route. For the millionth time, this parade is for US and the GSF. I don't need the media or the mayor there to give me a good feeling. Seeing my family and follow coppers there is good enough for me. peace brothers, the end is near with the J-FED goof.

I agree with the unifom comment. It is our day to honor our fallen and support the Gold Star Family members. We should look our best and act our best. In my 27yrs I have noticed a change in the parade over the last several years. How many of our officers don't, won't or can not wear the uniform proper. I'm all for our families coming out but they do not belong in the ranks, either do your dogs. It looks like a circus, not us looking our best.

The stuff they use today is something like Milorganite -- human sewage sludge -- mulched up with wood chips. Can't miss that stink when they do another parking lot median in a shopping center, etc. on a humid day.

This sounds like another slap in the face on the order of that business about the port-a-pots at the law enforcement officers' memorial...

Real busy smoothing the cracks in the pavement, though, down on their hands and knees with teaspoons in Washington Park before the IOC got there.

Oh...after 1,500 years or so of no activity, the Olympics idea was co-opted in 1898 by a French baron, Pierre De Coubertin -- as a "peace movement."

Some interesting connections to Coubertin's inevitable "progressive" friends to be found here --

Spectators!! The people that were watching on Michigan Ave that were not family were only there because we were in their way when they went for their mourning coffee. Outside of the NW and SW side this city hates us. Try working north along the lake they do not like us. We march for the fallen and marching at the memorial is where it should be. And as for the mayor who the fu*% wants him there.

Instead of handing out ribbons to all at the march, SCC should have handed out ballots and let all the officers in attendance cast an actual ballot as to whether they have confidence in JFed or not. Seriously, how could he argue with 1000's of "get the hell out of here" votes since he put himself out there saying if he knew he was the cause of low morale he would leave.

The mayor LITERALLY shit on every one of you that showed up and our fallen brothers!! Like I said a while ago, this guy could walk into the livingroom of these three year wonders, take a massive dump on the livingroom floor in front of the wife and kids, and the copper would tell his wife to clean it up while he rushes to work so he isn't late to keep his spot on the gang or tact team. Then rush out and grab as many bullshit heads as possible to keep up the numbers for his boss!
What more does this midget jag off have to do to you before you stop the nonsense arrests and parkers/movers.
Now run out there and get those numbers, that way the midget can see that you appreciated being placed out back for your silly parade and LITERALLY shit on by him during it!
