Arrest Falloff?

That's quite a drop for a single month. Anyone have the monthly breakdown for 2008 and compared to 2009? We're imagining the drop off has as much to do with all the beat cars not having a lot of time for arresting as it does with an actual cessation of proactive police work.

I love when jagoff bosses make an ass of themselves trying to convince the troops to produce more activity of any kind. Some of them struggle to say it in a way that won't bite 'em in the ass if anyone beefs. Others just don't know how not to be the flaming asshole they've always been.
When someone pisses you off to the point where you want to write them a ticket or lock them up, just remember how stupid you're making that asskissing boss look when he has to answer for the ever-decreasing almighty STATS!

Police are adjusting his/her natural tendencies to protect the weak, to fit the environment in order to survive after observing the punishment suffered by less adaptive peace officers. This evolving depolicing mutation which goes against the very nature of the beast will ultimately contribute greatly to the creation of a new Super Violent Subspecies that will take over our once fair city.
We'll still have kick-ass fireworks on the 3rd though.

Well all I do is write case reports to documentthe criminal activity that occurs at each job I am called to. I know I could code out the bS but I figure what the hell a quick 10 min report helps document the real level of crime and maybe if the crime rate goes up we will actually properly staff the police department. Plus all these reports leave lttle time for arrests after taking a lunch and all.
If we had sufficient manpower arrests would be at the norm,but its hard to arrest someone when you get the job an 1 1/2 hrs later.

Arguably, if fewer arrests are made, but made on financial criminals like Madoff, Daley, Venecko & DV Urban Realty, the Daley Crime Family and all the crooked politicians, fewer of the little people would feel the need to commit desperate petty street crimes and the like.
Not that that is likely to happen but I'm just sayin'...

Why in the world would a boss make a traffic stop to bring in numbers? Does anyone actually think because we wear a white shirt we support daley and weis and his bullshit? We were told at roll call again about the new evaluation system and how it counts #'s only. Unfair system that doesn't count what you do as a whole during your 8 hour tour. Calls for service, reports written, details, station assignments etc.
We even have a box for "traffic stops" on our check off sheet since Dugan's letter.
I will only do what I have to.
Lately with the backlog in the district, half of our calls are 19B because people are tired of waiting hours for service.
Yea - crime is down ----- NOT.
Police service is down because there aren't enough of us to handle what's dished out.

Outsourcing is THE biggest issue for lack of jobs (no products to be made = no factories to upgrade/rebuild). Rich businesspeople like outsourcing, it makes them more in stock options. Who do these people vote for usually?
not only are arrests down but i would venture to guess that quality arrests are also way down from one year ago---- coppers are tired of being treated like the gum on the bottom of someone's shoe-- coppers are showing their displeasure with a lack of production--- the bosses don't know what to do except feed you the same old tired " i got your back" bullshit--- last time i checked my cuffs they were rusty and full of dust---
I love how 35th street puts many of the teams and units in uniform and publicly says "it's for visibility and manpower reasons." But our immediate bosses still scream about the numbers and that we need to make more arrests. They are so stuck on stupid with the numbers BS it hilarious, but sad. We can't do surveillance anymore and now they just want drinkers and pissers so they can tell their bosses how they put a dent in crime. DUMB!!!!!

why can we not get our hands on an accurate list of people on the job? I see watch manpower stats in my district. Does everyone have these posted? or is there somewhere to look up how many people are job code 9161 and so on so we can get a true count? I know it will include medical and IOD, but it still has to be less than 13500.
The City will need to keep these Officers working because twice that many that are hired, are going to retire by that time!

Let me start off by saying YOU ARE AN IDIOT if you believe that one party (either Republicans or Democrats) is good and the other one is bad.
Both parties are responsible for our current mess and both parties are after power over us individual Americans. There is a huge power grab under way by both parties.
What America needs is patriots who do not identify themselves with the Elephant or the Donkey.
Arrests are down not because of "a slow down", "pissed off cops not doing any work", etc....
Arrests are down because we (I work in 025) have seen what happens when you try to do a good job. Instead of the department looking after you, they come over to fuck you.
After the John Haleas incident, the department started looking very closely at productive officers. I write a lot of DUI's and I was called and made to answer for some of my arrests.
Boy that made my day! NOT!
I used to work hard and made good quality arrests. But after that incident, no more.
I will respond to my jobs and DO EVERYTHING BY THE BOOK. Because if you don't just like Cozzi's lawyer said "you will be thrown under the bus, and it will be a federal bus and it will be driven by your own chief of police".

Then add in sergeants, lieutenants, captains, commanders, etc. Once you add that all together, you have the number. But then again if you still haven't figured out by yourself WHERE to get the information, I'll bet you can't add past fingers and toes.

The call takers are a big help, too. After all, they are the city's first line of defense against arrests being made. Spend more time arguing than getting the information.

2nd district tact team is required to bring in 4 Quality of Life arrests per team per night. Althoughs B/S arrests and we are still down .

If you trust the numbers the City gives you and believe the City computer has the correct numbers posted, you aren't working the street. WE are short out here in a big way.
Were is the money going that is allegedly being spent on those salaries? For that matter, where is all the federal money the City has received in grants from the Federal Government? How is it being used?
