CPD Goes "Global"

  • The city of Chicago will flood the streets with police officers this summer to keep crime from surging as it usually does when the weather gets warmer, Mayor Daley said today.

In part, the police department will do that by moving as many as 500 officers out from behind desks, Daley said.

  • The Police Department’s Global Strike Force will be expanded by 50 officers and supervisors, Daley said, and a new strike team will be created, comprised of personnel from gang intelligence and gang enforcement units, as well as neighborhood districts, to conduct surveillance in potentially violent areas.
So another 50 are leaving the Districts? The main thing that keeps quiet neighborhoods quiet is being stripped to "conduct surveillance in potentially violent areas"? And how the hell is this a "flood" of officers? What is happening is that the Department is finally acknowledging what the blog has been saying for two years - that we're shorthanded. Badly. And 45 recruits in a few weeks isn't going to do shit when we're having 50 retirements a month.

Better tell the citizens in the decent neighborhoods to stock up on arms and ammo. And stop voting for an idiot who is leaving you high and dry.

Boots on the Ground is the only way to suppress crime and violence.

When will the "doing more with less" nonsense stop!

Just a heads up for everyone. We executed a search warrant on a GD in the 006 district and recovered a bulletproof vest with black vest cover. The name was on the inside and we tracked it down to a retired policeman who we got hold of. He said he donated it to Nate's shop to send to Iraq. Pass this on to those who you see fit as I know Nate's is on the south side and most everyone receiving this email are north siders.

Maybe the command staff is getting ready to announce a new TRU unit. You need the bodies on the street to be able to strip away more manpower for BS units.

Idiot Shortshanks will not allow guns in the Republic of Chicago and the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals seems to agree with him. Apparently cities and municipalities are not bound by decisions of the United States Supreme Court to wit:

“Reporting from Washington -- The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld strict gun-control ordinances in Chicago and suburban Oak Park, Ill., setting the stage for a Supreme Court battle over whether the 2nd Amendment and its protection for gun owners extends to state and municipal laws.”

However, there is hope,
“Until the middle of the 20th century, most parts of the Bill of Rights applied only to the federal government, not to states or localities. In a step-by-step process, however, the high court decided that most of the rights in the Bill of Rights were fundamental to liberty and, therefore, limit the action of states and municipalities.”

AAAWWWWW, Come on SCC, Its units like TRU, Mobile Gang Unit and "Global" Strike Force that are changing the face of Modern Policing! Putting “Cops on the Dots”, as someone said years ago. Hell, we ALL know the D.O.C. can predict where the next crime will occur, and have units there beforehand! So, in the future, SCC, and its readers, can you please stop bashing units such at the above mentioned units. Because we all know the crime stats are… hold on, what’s this?, what the fuck?

UP?!!??!? But it’s not supposed to work like that!

The 500 number is the Back2Streets deployment. Each PO selects a week to work the streets.
It's NOT 500 PO's each and every week of the summer!
The 47 recruits in the academy WILL NOT be assigned to the districts until September?
I use a question mark because they keep pulling these kids out of the Academy for BS details (handing out brochures for the Shamrock shuffle, stuffing bags for the run to remember, etc) which prolongs their training. At this rate it is doubtful if they will be qualified to take the state exam when scheduled. As it is, they have only taken three written exams in the past 11 weeks!

The best part is J-Fed calling out Daley

"Mayor Daley's 2009 budget counted on saving $10 million by slowing police hiring to a crawl -- with only 200 officers hired all year.

But, Police Supt. Jody Weis acknowledged Tuesday that there has been only one class of 45 officers in the police academy this year and no other classes have been scheduled.

Is he going to get spanked? At least someone is telling the truth.

How short will you be by the end of the year?

HAAAAA HAAAAAAAAA!

Global mutha-fuckin' Strike Farce???

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

More people stripped from Patrol?

So WTF? Is the entire 8500 member Chicago Police Department going to be a strike farce?

Whither goes the Patrol Division? You know, the one's doing the lifting?

Divide and conquer? The new age Police don't want to/unwilling to put in their 10 to 15 years on 1st and/or 3rd watch? Unencumbered by chasing the radio and willing to put oneself in a position to have certain contractual rights subverted if not trampled? (we do hope that is NOT what the powers that be are banking on)

Dear Citizens (the upright, more than fair share tax paying & seeing no return) of Chicago...

The day is come which we have predicted for so long. Some of you will be in DIRE need of the Police and there will be NO police whatsoever to send you.

If you value yourselves, your family & friends, your property & belongings you've worked so hard for then you very well better take common sense measures to protect them because the mayor and superintendent have been sending you a big F/U by shrinking the department.

This is because of the mayor playing politics with YOUR safety because he has a long standing, intractable hatred of CPD from childhood.

Chicago will burn this summer. Daley WILL NOT man up and do what is right. Weis IS a carpetbagger and a soul-less creature who has no reflection & casts no shadow...

We're amazed that any human being in the land of the living or departed could ever on GOD's green earth claim him as a son or a husband or a friend. The same indictment holds true for the mayor.

These two beings are as much enemies of the Chicago Police Department as the savages on the street.

The REAL citizens of this once great city should be aghast at what Daley is doing. The theft and deception is of such a magnitude that our grandchildren will probably not live to see it unraveled to it's least common denominator.

In other times, dictators faced the justice of the people when the law was unresponsive in giving redress to their violation and outrage...

SCC, I finally figured out what's going on at 35th Street. Somebody with a wicked sense of humor is assigned to a position which gives them access to the exempts. This guy is whispering into each exempts ear and saying stuff like: "We should form a "Strike Team"! Of course the exempts don't realize this name came from "The Shield"; a show about corrupt police officers.

Now the police department formed up a "Global Strike Force". Now I know why McNulty and McCotter left; they couldn't stop laughing!

Now that our J-Fed led department reached a new level of comedy, may I make a suggestion to whom ever is comming up with these names?

I suggest:

what a nonsurprise to hear that post about that company guy watch commander on first watch in 011. the only reason to have these bs missions is to write tickets, impound cars(which in and of itself is a good thing), and generate revenue for this shitbag city. i want to see how 011 can down two or three cars on midnites for a bs mission when they rarely ever have all the beat cars up and running to begin with. it's been a long time since 011 mid's has had enough manpower to even think about putting up incident cars. there are nights when 3 or 4 beat cars are down and there are still a couple 99 cars out there. thanks for keeping officer safety in mind you tool. and you wonder why so many people left 1st watch during the last watch bid? actually you probably didn't wonder about it because you just don't get it. oh yeah that's right, i'm sure you will use 011 on your ass-kissing resume to make gold star...even though you never were nor never will be the real police.

Wait until the "STIMULUS" money for the city gets freed up.
The department is going to have an overtime initiative where officers can work days off in their own or other districts.
This will be in place to avoid hiring bodies and paying for their benefits and the number of coppers doing this will make up for any man power shortage.
The extra money earned will count as their raise so there is no need for a new contract. It's Federal money. The city can't lose!!!
The sad part about this is that it is true and their are coppers that will sign up for this in a minute!
Can't you just see the little shithead mayor laughing out loud, saying that he won and the asshole coppers will do anything he makes them do. they are not united and don't give a shit for the others.

All the shitheads, gang bangers, petty criminals and gangs that can't make it in their old turn are slowly moving into the safe districts.

Just look at 016 (Belmont to Irving Park Road and Cicero to Narragansett). It's a nice case book study. The gangs, shitheads, etc... that couldn't make it in 025 and 015 moved into the 016th district.

We are short of officers and by depriving the safe districts of officers, it just invites trouble into nice parts of the city.

Just make the 016 dist. tact team take some of the back log jobs. Oh I forgot they are too busy locking up a drunk at bel/cicero. Any big arrest in 016 comes from a beat car or an outside unit. Tact team always was and always will be in 016 a big joke.

You are so right. Have you driven down Western Blvd lately? The City Planted approx a Hundred (Yes 100) trees between 55th and 44th among the existing trees. I thought we were broke? The City also replaced the very nice, in good shape fence at the play lot at Short and Eleanor with a Iron fence (Surprise Surprise!)Approx 2 months ago. Why are we tearing down good equipment and replacing it with more expensive stuff if we are in such a crisis? Are the 2 above locations areas the IOC may be traveling by in the future?

Hey SCC, since we are in contract negotiations, and the city is crying broke, you could add a new thread about how the city is spending money left and right. I know if all of us coppers report what we see everyday on our beats it would show the city is lying!

MOBILE almost rhymes with GLOBAL.

Perhaps the mayor misunderstood when briefed? Or, perhaps he really thinks his police force is about to invade Canada.

I juat applied for the new CPD "Space Patrol" unit. Man is it cool, they get all the best equipment and the chicks dig the aluminum foil uniforms. They are sooo much better than any watch rats working a beat car. I can't wait to brag about all my accomplishments and throw it in all your faces that, we're the best and the Supe says so too. Have fun in your pool car, suckers.

Agreed. Pointing these things out might entice the media to report on them (or so we can hope). The city also tore down and rebuilt the whole playground at Wentworth Park. It wasn't broken down or in any kind of disrepair at all. Just takes precedence over hiring cops is all.
Oh and to add insult to injury they added a new wrought iron fence around it as well.

What's with this bullshit back to the streets? These house mouses must go out for a week a month? How can it be that they aren't required to take radio assignments? The poor beat cop who's getting pounded with jobs will get no relief from having these house mouses out there if they're not really going to take jobs and help. Why doesn't the F.O.P. inform the public of the smoke that J-Fed and Ritchie are blowing up their ass?
As far as Dugan's ingenious order from last week how many of those officers do you think are really working the street and taking jobs?
I'd be willing to bet that no watch secretaries ever actually hit the street city wide. That position is too involved to be absorbed by the W/C or the now depleted desk crew. And how many of the Commanders people and C.A.P.S. people are actually working cars. I mean working not assigned to. From what I've observed and have been hearing a lot of the chosen ones that were bounced out are being held down per the D.C. etc. etc. The only ones who really got fucked in that deal was the desk crew. 2 P.O.'s and 1 SGT simply will not cut it in an average to busy district. There simply is too much shit to do on the desk for just 2 P.O.'s and a Sgt. to handle. With the warmer weather and crazy days of summer upon us something will have to give.
Last but not least we're approaching 2 years without a contract. King Ritchie has said we're out of touch with reality and that we should be grateful to have a job. Why doesn't he tell that to his staff and all the aldercreatures who continue to take their 6% yearly salary increases regardless of what shape the economy is in? He has shown no evidence of tightening the belt regarding anything to do with him or the aldercreatures yet he wants a large percentage of city workers to take up to 17 unpaid days a year. Ritchie go fuck yourself. May the fleas of a thousand dogs infest your house!

Ive had all my vests made at Nate's, good quality merchandise, i was in the shop when the owner told customers to beat it cause they didnt have proper I.D. Why would level 2 Body armor go to Iraq anyway? They use all that level 4 armor! Its got to stop an ak-47

The question is, if a law-abiding citizen who has been made a criminal by the daley enterprise for refusing to register arms, shoots someone committing a forcible felony, what happens then? I mean, we're all disarmed for the most part - except you guys, and you're busy attending to the animals down south and west. Do people in this city end up defending themselves lawfully then face prosecution? Does this even happen here? You can't rely on the news for SHIT.

The vest's were supplemental. To be used as they saw fit. I donated two so I'm curious as to how donated vests are winding up on the streets. I've see them throw out non-police at Nate's also.

I have been getting gear at Nate's for almost 30 years! I remember one time he made a cop from Berwyn Get his Id out of his car just to sew on patches on his leather. At the time i was surprised, I knew he was the police cause we were talking for a awhile, but now looking back the owner was right! You just never know!
