Hoffman on the Warpath

  • Chicago’s 36,000 parking meters were worth nearly twice as much as the $1.15 billion Mayor Daley got when he rammed through a 75-year lease in a few days without analyzing what the system was worth, the city’s inspector general has concluded.

A steep schedule of rate hikes and operational problems ranging from over-stuffed and improperly calibrated downtown meters to broken pay-and-display boxes have turned the deal into a nightmare for motorists.

But Inspector General David Hoffman says the lease was a financial disaster as well.

We recall seeing an article by financial guru Terry Savage that said the meter lease deal should have been quite a few billions more. Regardless, Daley's cronies will make out in some form or another unless the contract gets rescinded in court. Just another day in Chicago.

Saw Paul Volpe responding, with eyes blazing, that the ciy would of had to lay off 2000 Police officers, Firefighters, Streets & San, etc. if they didn't get that money for the meters.

OK, where's that money?

God bless U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald and Inspector General David Hoffman.

Without them, the Daley Crime Family would practice total lawlessness in this town, instead of the near-total lawlessness that is part and parcel of the Daley stranglehold around the neck of good and transparent Chicago government.

Please gentlemen, Mr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Hoffman, never give up, and keep digging!

Another instance of a "Stinks to High Heaven" daley deal that needs to be investigated much deeper than Hoffman went. There has to be a "Golden Fleece" in there somewhere for shortshanks & his crime family .

Who's gonna be the "sacrificial lamb" that gets the heat & gets tossed under the bus. Ya know that stutterin' boy shortshanks never does nothing wrong !

Daley said the money was needed to shore up the budget, and now were ok. no property tax hikes, no layoffs and a couple hundred million exta for the rainy day fund. So why is he talking giving up vacation days? What the fuck is that all about. 13000 cops my ass!!

Well, this is when Patrick Fitzgerald should step in and look at how that lease was granted. Why Daley shoved down the alderscums throats in two days.

This may be the tipping point for Fitz and Daley. If Fitz does the right thing he may just land the big kahuna.

Don't kid yourself, Hoffman has had his own agenda for several years. Amazingly, he didn't get slapped down several years ago when he went to New York and came back looking to increase his staffing. He kind of reminds me of Ratso Rizzo from Midnight Cowboy.

What's this, Daley and his friends & family will make out very well financially, including his brother Bill and the company he works for and the taxpaying citizens will get fleeced once again and Daley is saying it has to be that way, don't question his judgment, shut up and like it. Is that the current brouhaha?

What the hell else is new? This is how Richard M Daley has always done things. It hasn't kept him from being re-elected over and over, why make a fuss now? The herd of sheep known as voters never complained about the huge dick in their ass before, what makes this any different?

They will vote him in again, the same 80% of the 28% who go to the polls come Feb 22, 2011 will vote this corrupt thief into office again. Do not worry. If anyone dares run against him the Daley juggernaut will pull all their usual election tricks and do any credible challenger dirty and steal the election.

Is is always that way. This is Chicago. Get used to that dick in your ass and stop complaining, get some Preparation H creme to rub on or something.

If the people didn't want Daley fucking them, they would not have kept him in office for over 20 years. They are comfortable with this criminal. The ass fucking they know is better, I guess, than the ass fucking they have yet to receive. This is democracy.

Readers of this blog should read Gus Russo's great book "Supermob; How Sidney Korskak and His Criminal Associates Became America's Hidden Power Brokers". Book was published in 2006. (Author also wrote "The Outfit", a equally great book about Chicago's mafia history.) Book "Supermob" is a good read and well researched. Longstanding Chicago business leaders' strong ties to both Daley political machine and to Chicago mob are analyzed in detail. Prominent Chicago families now cloaked with respect and clout due to philanthropic contributions have longstanding history of shady business dealings, like Pritzkers and Crowns. Book details Daleys' climb to political (and financial)control. Read book, and you'll understand how Chicago corruption is embedded as a constant in all business conducted in Chicago and Cook County.

I just saw DICK DALEY on the news stating the budget has been balanced till 2012.....that he had $400 million in surplus for a rainy day.......SO WHERE THE FUCK IS OUR CONTRACT DICK?

News reported that Daley is defending the deal and saying that the city averted financial disaster and now has a $400,000 surplus.

I guess since we're in the black we'll be getting that contract. Eh, shortshanks?

Go fuck yourself you worthless, gutless, smelly little disheveled twirp.

the "shitty" parking meter contract was passed through "shitty council" in about 72 hours,

yet it takes months just to get the results from a multiple choice police department promotional test

gee, is this two versions of the same type of corruption?

Did anyone see last night's 9:00 WGN news? Paul Volpe was on there talking about the benefits of the meter sell-off, including "$400 milion" cushion that "no other city has" as a result. $400 million cushion?! FOP time to bring that up for the contract talks before they start backtracking... Like NOW!

a couple hundred million exta for the rainy day fund.
===================================

How can the city justify a "rainy day fund" when they constantly have trouble paying their debts?

If you owe money, you pay the debt. As a citizen, would the city understand if I didn't pay my water bill but had $20,000 in the bank in MY rainy day fund?

DALEY IS DIRTY ON THIS ONE. BET ON THAT. YOU'RE TALKING OVER A BILLION DOLLAR DEAL TO SELL OFF A REVENUE GENERATOR AND YOU GOT CAROTHERS IN A 40K DEAL??? WTF?
CITY COULD'VE KEPT THE METERS AND RAISED THE PARKING RATE ONLY HALF OF WHAT THEY ARE NOW AND MADE DECENT BANK.

Let's see here we have 36,000 meters. If each made $1 per day thats $36,000 x 6 days per week (break on sunday) thats $216,000 x 52 weeks thats $11,232,000 x 75 years thats $842,400,000. Now we all know that most of these meters make 5-10 times more than this in a day so you do the math.

Didnt Hoffman appear in Chicago around the time Weiss did and the other former FED at IDPR?

I think the Fed told Daley that Federal oversight of his Police Dept and other Law Enforcement entities within the City were moments away. He was then told that those positions were to be filled by Hand Picked Feds.

Just my theory.

Why else would Hoffman still have a job after speaking against our leader Chairman Daley of the Peoples Republic of Chicago?

Hoffman appeared when Phil Cline began his term. Hoffman was a legal liason with Justice assigned to smoothe the flow of manpower and information from the feds to CPD and vice versa. He is an excellent attorney & was very helpful in coordinating investigations with the Feds & CPD. He is very pro police---the working police! He will bury a thief or a rogue in a NY second. I wondered why he took the City Inspectors job, now I believe I know why-----TO MAKE THE MAYOR PAY FOR HIS SINS! YOU GO DAVE!

Why didn't goofy Fitzgerald look at the deal before it was ok'd and the drunk, crook alderman too since they have decided to complain after the fact? Everyone in charge in Illinois especially Chicago is stupid. This is called grandstanng after the fact, so no one should think they are smart and it is true, any problem they ALL point their fingers and say the coppers did not do their job when no one asked them that dumb shi":)()( -. What should be done is to fix the problem and not point fingers and Fitzgerald is stupid and the Inspector General needs to learn how to make complaints on crook companies and non-profits who suck up the taxpayers money to line their own pockets just as they are accusing Daley of losing our money. They probably haven't figured out a way to put on a big show of "ooh - look what we caught him doing" so these crooks continue in their crookdom.
