Higgins Cartoon
Sometimes he gets it right. He's no MacNelly or Ramirez, but he has a moment every year or so:
We're surprised there's still enough meat on the bones to feed so many vultures.

It probably actually happened.
Is that supposed to be Masters on the left?
For the Daley Crime Family, this is a disturbing trend.
The media, ie. newspapers, radio, TV news, internet blogs and even the cartoonists are beginning to take notice.
The corruption of Daley Crime Family is being uncovered and reported on at an alarming rate. As each Daley conspiracy is exposed, with links to Daley family members, friends, and even Organized Crime, and despite denials from the Mayor, the bigger picture of his criminal operation becomes increasingly more obvious. His dynasty is wavering under the exposure. He is primed for expulsion from Chicago forever !
what a great cartoon. i am goin to send it to all corners of the country to get some good exposure, it is dead on accurate of our situation.
nahhh...
should be a drawing of a partially deconstructed skeleton in a weedy overgrown vacant lot... skull grinning sightlessly at the crescent moon and a rat stares curiously from one of the eye sockets as an empty flamin' hot bag dances by on the breeze... would've been much more fitting for these current times in this city.
It's "MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO" in Oak Lawn. Our version of "shortshanks" and his merry crew have been threatening us with "lay-offs" if we don't OPEN our SIGNED CONTRACTS and make concessions !!! They have also "FROZEN" all step increases ( ie. 5, 10 15 yrs etc) that are CONTRACTUALLY DUE employees !!!! Sadly I don't think we are the only cities that are trying these tactics.....
Nice cartoon but where are the knives in the vultures backs?
Somewhat O/T:
Check out Rick Telander's Sun Times column about how Chicago doesn't deserve the 2016 olympics.
"Michael Jordan and even Barack Obama himself are going to speak out for the Chicago Olympic bid.
Who cares?
Do you know how much money Chicago stands to lose in this deal? Are you a wheeler-dealer? A connected guy? A Daley relative hooked up to pension-fund investments?
You'll pay, if you're not.
I guarantee you.
I promise you."
He really nailed this one.
I disagree with your opinion on Higgins' insight. I think he's absolutely the best. I've moved out of the city since retirement and still subscribe to the Sun Times for two reasons - Higgins and Mark Brown (I don't always agree with Brown, but you don't have to agree with everything he comments on, he just writes well). Higgins' political characterizations are insightful and consistently biting.
Go Higgins!
rick telander friday 6/5.........
The City of Chicago, led by Mayor Daley and a vast and tumorous army of aldermen and bagmen and yesmen and opportunists and spineless, parasitic political-machine halfwits of forms never seen outside the roiling cesspool of governmental slop-trough greed, has proven itself unworthy of something as potentially delicious and fulfilling as the 2016 Olympic Games.
Ours would read more like a t-shirt I saw: " How many times do p.o's get screwed..... Daley.
Bread???
They would be picking at the carcass of the taxpayers, US, until there was nothing but bones.
Then fly off and find other carrion.

Former Supt Phil Cline, on behalf of Chicao police Memorial Foundation, gave deceased PO Valadez's family a check for $50,000 and a guarantee of free tuition thru college level for his unborn son...
class act from a good guy and a great organization(Chgo police memorial Foundation)
Class act? How much is Phil Cline paid each year to give out that money?
How about him donating his salary from the tax exempt organization to a deceased police officers family?

I don't believe it is up to fatphil to give out free college tuition. It is one of the benefits that is given to the off spring of fallen officers by the State. As for the 50K, how much of that is phatphils and how much is from the memorial fund that so many of us contribute too.
