Bratton will continue to serve as chief until October 31, 2009. Bratton will be moving back to New York City to take a position with a private international security firm called "Altegrity," serving as a of a new division where he will consult on security for police departments worldwide.

Among outsider "police executives", the word got out long ago about Daley's Chicago.
While the CPD desperately needs an outsider with integrity to end the demoralizing effects of political clout and corruption, only the delusional would believe that a legitimate candidate like Bill Bratton would take the job, regardless of salary.
The dealbreaker requirement is that you must cast aside principle, integrity and professional leadership and agree to be Daley's bitch.

We need a Chicago policeman to lead this department. A fed, an outsider or 99% of the current exempts won't fit the bill.
Bratton will never live in Chicago. When he was in NY he commuted from Connecticut. In NY you can own an "uninhabitable residence" in NYC and live outside the city and meet their residency requirements. The NYC residence can remain uninhabitable ad infinitum. This is what Bratton and many others did in NYC. Read his biography, it is in there and he talks about it openly. He doesn't want to live here and get paid less than $350 Gs. He can make that mioney overseas or in DC, or even on a realty TV show.
What do LA and NYPD blogs say about this guy? Even if this guy was so great why would he come here and work for shortshank's criminal enterprise.

Blago runs off to Serbia where he becomes a hairstylist.
Sarah Palin's popularity diminishes to the point where she announces she's running for Chicago Mayor.
A white haired President Obama welcomes the Olympics to Chicago in 2016 whilst Richard M Daley watches the proceedings from the Day Room at a Club Fed.

Shortshanks can't pay another outside Supt. candidate to come here and take over here. They've all seen WEISel crash & burn here, and there just isn't enough money in this City for any outside agency bosses to sell their integrity, as J-Fed has apparently done. My best guess is, those other agency bosses are involved with the private sector venture that Bratton is hooked up with, and since Chicago is smack dab in the middle of the country, it was decided that they would all take in a joint meeting HERE. We're still stuck with Asshole & Masters until October, I think.
LAPD is paying Bratton $350 large, and it appears he was well worth it. I like that Bratton told the Mayor of L.A. That he would make a 'big mistake' if he were to go with an outsider to replace him. No greater example of the failure of outsider mgt. than right here in Shitcago!

You can't be talking about Joe DeLopez.
Bratton came into town and met with Daley, if he wasn't here for an interview why would he be meeting with Daley, It's true, the coppers from MSF had the dignitary detail and took him to city hall for the meeting. I may think he could also be the next boss.
If you want a real boss to run this department like it should be run......get back Hiram Grau.
Anyone who has ever worked for him or with him know he is the real deal.
He will tell the mayor what he needs to hear, not what he wants to hear.

He threatened us, then took it back, he dumped folks, then took it back, he promoted folks then took it back, he and Michelle Masters constantly remind Exempt members that they can be a Lieutenant again and they cover the kiss asses and leave the rest of us out to dry. Why would you get rid of 70 percent of department history in one day? You are the biggest fucking idiot. Then you promote Commanders and those that have never worked in the areas and fields you put them in, to run key positions in this department. Mike Masters is the biggest embarassment of your career besides Aunt Bea. They have both totally brought you down. Drop the baggage Jfed and make your last days here count!
Weis came in and chopped heads and moved commanders. Like what he did or not it was a good move since politics put them in the districts they originally had. Then Weis fails to return the Dicks phone call, seeming to have balls, and then all of the sudden his Chief of Staff is gone and Masters is in. Weis stopped standing up pretty quick.. I just wonder what the pictures the Daley mob took of Weis really contain...

There is no way in Gods green earth that Bratton would ever take the job here. There, HE ran the Police Dept.

Chicago would be lucky to get Bratton. He got LAPD out from under a consent decree, increased their support from minorities, increased the size of the department and reduced crime while also reducing citizen complaints
The problem here in Chicago is politics, and he probably wouldn't be able to accomplish everything here that he's done in other places. Anyway, he's got himself a book deal.
First of all, Mr. Take it to the Bank you have never been right about anything. Secondly, Bratton was never interviewed for CPD, the mans name was McCarthy and he was in the upper echelon of NYPD. Thirdly, anyone who thinks Cline was an asshole should have their head examined. Lastly, it really doesn't matter who takes the helm at this point, there are too many cards stacked against us, namely Daley, the media, the Loevys and their sort, the liberal population of this city and state and a democrat in the white house. A good superintendent might ease our pain slightly, but the damage is done, that age of policing is over.
I could really care less who they bring in. Im done and dont care anymore. Since I have let go of this pathetic city ... my blood pressure went down. No more acid reflux. No nothing but a short time to wait until I can leave.
Collect your check and find something meaningful to do on the side that isnt Police Work!! You will live longer and be happier!

I believe you were properly forewarned. You drank the Weis Kool Aid and were suitably rewarded for having faith in an FBI agent. And now you are disappointed, Too bad.
Once the 2016 Games are announced look for one of the young guns to really start making a move. Georgas,Roti, Burns, Murphy or even Hubberman come to mind. Whoever it is they will have to be under 50. I am sure there are a few more , but it will be a current or recently removed member.

HUH! Are you fucking nuts? That sawed-off circus midget that did nothing but kiss Cline's huge ass for years? He would be a disaster for us. The compliments of real boss and real deal, should never be uttered in the same phrase, sentence, paragraph, chapter, book or breath where the name of Hiram Grau is mentioned because they do not apply to him. He is an incompetent zero that would be unknown if not for being a friend of Cline and a fellow Hispanic friend of Alvares. Daley's holding try-outs for a repalcement after he throws J-Fed under the bus.

Thursday of this week Huberman hosted a meeting at CPS H.Q. Probably 20 D.C's, Chief's
Dep. Supts. and J. Fed along with high school principals and support staff. Also there were big shots from the Police Executive Research Forum in Washington D.C. Consultants from Boston and New York were also there to discuss Youth Violence in Chicago. Somebody should have just asked Bratton why he was in town instead of just making shit up.

Thank you for making this extremely accurate statement. Many of us who been around know this to be true and do not want him back either. Hiram is useless without cline and is known for nothing else.

You must have taken a serious hit to the head immediately prior to writing your comments. DeLopez is a politician police pretender. He'd blow Daley for the job and continue to suck Daley off to keep the job.
Nothing will ever get better for us as long as Daley is mayor, and, even then, it is questionable how much better things will get. If you want to see the future after Daley leaves or dies, look at the mayor's office from December 1976 to date. It ain't pretty. Our best hopes were Mayors Jane Byrne, Harold Washington and Eugene Sawyer, but Daley and the old guard worked against each them until Mayor Byrne was ejected, Mayor Washington died and they undercut Mayor Sawyer.
ANYONE WHO TAKES OVER THE 18TH DISTRICT WILL BE BETTER THAN THE FUCKIN EGOTESTICAL GEORGAS, GOOD FUCKIN RIDDANCE!!
