Where was CeaseFire? Why weren't their "shooting stoppers" out there catching bullets and preaching to the gangsters to put down their weapons and establishing "rules of engagement" to stop this senseless shooting?
A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition Wednesday night after she was shot in the head on the Far South Side.
About 8 p.m., the teen was shot in the 11000 block of South Normal Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva. The girl was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, reportedly with a gunshot wound to her head.

Who fuckin' cares? Not I. Because neither myself, my wife, my children, my family, my friends or any of my extended family (CPD) was the one shot in the head.

Have you ever run some of the "workers" that they use? Murderers, rapists, armed robbers.

It shouldn't surprise you that the Cease Fire thugs can't always make it on a single salary...so some go back to their old haunts with the intention of double-dipping.
By that logic the Chicago Police Department is equally as ineffective as CeaseFire.
Where was the CPD?
That's a rhetorical question. For those of you who graduated from the Chicago Public Schools that means I don't expect an answer. I'm going to guess I'm going to get a few answers though. Be gentle.
The reality is that an increased Police presence, real police leadership, and an effective correctional system would reduce the crime rate.
It would also help to be realistic about the drug war. Of course perhaps the alcohol I am drinking is clouding my otherwise stellar judgment. Off with their heads!
The world is seldom as "this or that" as this post makes it out to be.
I think a well funded Ceasefire in conjunction with the other things I mentioned can reduce the crime rate. If you look at what has happened in some other major cities with REAL leadership you'll see they did a variety of things to reduce their crime rates.
What the CPD seems to be doing is a constant shuffling of chairs on the decks of the His Elective Majesty's(Richie the 2nd's) police department.
Ultimately the answer to reducing the crime rate in the long term probably involves free birth control and encouraging some folks not to pollute the gene pool.
Now I know that with 50 alderman and the Mayor the gene pool is already polluted, but perhaps we could use a bit of chlorine in the future.
I have some other ideas as well, but if you've ever seen "Escape from New York" or the LA sequel you might get the idea.
I seem to recall a big quarry out in Thornton Illinois. Would the Mayor and his cronies be happy incarcerated there for a few decades?

Never a big news item when one of the Ceasefire people got locked up with weapons by one of the specialized Units last year.

The Lincoln Park Marauders story isn't just a crime story. It's a political story.
The details of the crimes have been repeated endlessly in the news. Unsuspecting taxpayers walking in high-end neighborhoods are approached by thugs, who punch the taxpayers in the face, beat the tar out of them, humiliate them further and take their money.
It happens in other neighborhoods. But in other neighborhoods, unfortunately, this wouldn't lead the local newscasts. It would be police blotter stuff, next to the motor vehicle break-ins and petty thefts and bleak, one-paragraph accounts of murder.

My idea to thin the herd is quite simple, as well, and MUCH LESS expensive!
While they are young, we give them a fishbowl and some Guppies... After observing these Guppies for a few months, the herd, like the Guppies, will learn to EAT THEIR YOUNG ! ! !
As an added bonus, the herd members will fight over who owns the Guppies and will kill each other just to prove their point. In fact, in populations where this has been tried before, these fishbowls have been broken in family scuffles and have, themselves, become the actual weapon, used to slice and dice their siblings.

Heard them whining on the radio this weekend. They are "thankful" for the $5.x million they're currently getting, but that's down from the $6.x million they once got and not anywhere near the $20 million they say they NEED to be effective in the neighborhoods. Because they're only in 25% of the areas they want to be in to fight crime.
