Ald. Ricardo Munoz (22nd) acknowledged Wednesday that his daughter was admitted to Whitney Young Magnet High School for the upcoming school year after he called the principal to ask that his daughter be allowed to follow in her brother's footsteps.
The self-styled reformer denied that his personal appeal placed undue pressure on Whitney Young Principal Joyce Kenner -- and he made no apologies for it.

It's all the same story. Munoz is a piece of garbage. His family manipulates the system and exploits their own people to make a living. I just don't understand how we as civil servants cannot escape the federal microscope, but these crimes go unattended to. Frankly, this city is garbage, the politicians are garbage, the entire sysem needs an enema. Start at the top and work your way down. It will end with the aldermen. Metro Correctional will be overcrowded, but at least they can hold the city council meetings there, with only a few aldermen absent.

Did anyone see Mayor Chucky Shortshanks almost in tears saying the media should apologize to him ? It was on Wed 9PM Fox32. He actually looked like he was going to cry. I think the closer it gets to going down hard either by the Feds or by losing an election, the more the Mayor looks unstable in public. He ain't looking right these days, and its noticeable.

Daley said the alderman's efforts to help a relative and possibly other constituents showed the need to build more good schools in the city.

So he takes what is a criminal misuse of power, and turns it into a call to raise taxes indirectly (someone has to pay to build the schools)? That's like saying I robbed the guy on the bus stop so we need a new program to find jobs for the homeless..totally unrelated!
The City Council should seek to oust Munoz and there should be a local election to fill his spot. All this appointment bullshit is what gets us into these problems..that and people are stupid, and only the stupid ones go and vote.
The Chicago Teacher's Union has an under the table policy that gets their members kid's admitted first in line in any of C.P.S. schools or program.
Personally I do not mind this; after all it would encourage their members to make these programs the best they can be. They should take care of their own, as we should take care of ours.
It would be a good thing if they were to give the nearly the same clout to other city unions. The only ones who would be hurt would be the parochial schools. Many of us could have saved a lot of money that way and I do not care for some of the hypocrisy of parochial schools.
In the days before all the cherry-picking premium CPS schools, one of the few times I ever saw Shortshanks defend some administrator who stuck their foot in their mouth was many years ago when a CPS administrator said that they were sending their kid to parochial schools. That administrator said that CPS weren't good enough for her kid and it made the news. Daley got on TV and said that was her choice and also said, "What do they want, blood?!?! Blaa-haa-haa-haa", as he tried to do a Dracula laugh.
People talked about that, and I said, he had to defend her, after all, where did Daley's kids go? Even his son Patrick got went to West Point after that baseball bat beating incident in Michigan. That required a Congressional appointment from Rep. Lipinski. Patrick dropped out, but they finally caught up to him for the commitment, that’s why he’s in the Army now.

Chicago Public Schools' inspector general is investigating whether rules were violated when Ald. Ricardo Munoz (22nd) intervened to help a relative whose test scores weren't high enough to get into a prestigious city high school.
The disclosure comes as a federal investigation swirls around admissions practices at the city's nine elite selective-enrollment high schools.
Chicago Board of Education President Michael Scott Sr. also was subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury.

After all, for every one of us working stiffs that doesn't work, there's a whole family of welfare recipients who will vote to keep the gravy train running. when it comes to schools, no one should care if someone gets in based on who you know. i am a white chicagoan who grew up in west lawn, parents couldnt afford a catholic tuition so wound up at a public high school on the south side. the school had plenty of shitheads but the i know for a fact the education was better than my friends who went to st lawrence and rita. and when it came to going to college i got denied by illinois who accepted minorities with a lower gpa and lower act. but school is school. its what that person makes of it and who the become friends with.
It was well known in the early 90's that Photo Munoz" was in the business of false identification. He was in the mall on 26th st and Kedzie. Everyone in 10 knew it and the feds knew it. The commander refused to do anything about it ( or do anything about the rest of the illegal activity on 26th st in 10). The polititians controlled the malls, the bars and lounges and the restaurants. They sold stolen property, ilegal IDs and served minors with immunity
munoz is kind of a jerk. i was there with the paper car once when his pictre window was broken out on his house. someone threw a brick through it. he was extrememlydemanding and treated the po's like peons. he was on the phone with the commander immediately also.

Eagle eye tact guys after an hour and a half lunch were able to spot the elderly Mexican male drinking from a paperbag.
After discarding his walker he was able to limp, rather fast mind you, to elude custody so to not be the 017th Districts next "head/number".
Well the tactical team was outstanding with the helicopter assisting and the back up units response to this 10-1 was awesome!
Thank God! As this offender, who had an extensive sheet in Alchohol consumption in public as well as indecent exposures, was fished out of the river by the marine unit.
I was proud to have been the police on this day as we all came together to subdue the offender!

Yes, that's my poor wording. What I *meant* was, the majority of people who vote in the elections, since they vote for Daley, are uneducated sheeple. Voting is always beneficial..even more so for people that actually PAY TAXES. I should have worded my initial post better. More people that are against the Machine need to vote, but right now we stand as a minority..at least, according the polls. That needs to change.
