POLICE SUPT. JODY WEIS, it is time for you, President Obama, Mayor Daley and Gov. Quinn to call in the National Guard to help stop this slaughter of innocent kids and folks throughout our city, particularly on the South and West sides. Just because most times the gang-bangers are African-American or Hispanic and the victims are almost always black or Hispanic is no reason not to forcefully protect Chicago's citizens.
Most African-American kids and Hispanics are just trying to go to school and make a living. Decent citizens are not packing pistols, so how can they protect themselves out here in the streets? I am not going to name all of the young people and adults who have been shot down like dogs in our streets in just the last couple of weeks. Just buy a newspaper (the Sun-Times, of course) and find out for yourself . . . so you can get depressed and angry like the rest of us who are sick and tired of reading about death, corruption and destruction in Chicago.
Bring in the National Guard or let go some of those hidden funds and hire more policemen and give them more power. There should be cops patroling the high-crime areas to the degree that criminals will think first before committing crimes. If you think all this violence is going to stay confined to the inner-city neighborhoods and won't affect other communities, you are wrong. The bolder the criminals get, all lives are in danger no matter what color you are. Even politicians will be ducking bullets.

I was talking to a co-worker about this, and he was too young to remember that award winning appearance Teddy made, wearing the Skokie collar after Ms. Kopekne died in the Senators Olds 98. I gave him bonus points for the ballsy, bold face lie he told the press about diving in the water repeatedly to try to rescue her.
Written accounts of the event point out the 10 hour time gaps, his returning to the motel, changing clothes, making phones calls and all that before appearing before the police at Martha's Vineyard. I always wonder how much he coughed up to the Kopecknes for their silence.
I remember talking to a guy from 018 who told me he was quite a party animal who had to be driven back to his hotel on several Chicago visits. Aw, he's a Kennedy, what can you do?

Senator Ted Kennedy has lost his battle to live. As a Christian I hope God has mercy on him. He suffered from a ghastly cancerous brain tumor that has apparently taken his life.
Obviously Kennedy will be canonized by acclamation in the media today and for days to come. The British Crown has already given him an honorary knighthood making him “Sir Edward” but genuine Americans know better.
These things said, I offer the following brief but honest obituary items which have no chance of appearing anywhere in the Democrat controlled media.
“It’s hard to think of anyone who singlehandedly did more damage to America than Ted Kennedy. Starting with his disgusting criminal conduct at Chappaquiddick when he abandoned Mary Jo Kopechne to die, Kennedy was always a destructive force in America’s public life. Because Kennedy was never prosecuted, as he should have been, his crime did enormous damage to America’s sense of justice and belief that “no one is above the law.”
“On signing the 1965 Civil Rights Law, Lyndon Johnson lamented, “We [Democrats] have lost the South for a generation.” This moved Kennedy to commit perhaps his most egregious acts when he sponsored two Immigration reform bills that slammed the door on Europeans who had traditionally brought industriousness and honor to America. Instead they cleared the way for millions and millions of legal and illegal aliens from elsewhere who often bring no skills but palpable contempt for America. Kennedy is responsible for the damage they have done.
“One of Kennedy’s most memorable quotes came in a rare truthful moment during a discussion about socialism he said, “[Socialism] hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didn’t have me to run it.”
“Sir Edward’s family asks for donations to LaRaza or Moveon.org. groups he loved so dearly.”

At hearing the news of Edward Moore "Teddie" Kennedy's death just before midnight last evening, my first thoughts were of Mary Jo Kopechne and her parents and wondering if the parents are still living. Regardless, God bless Mary Jo and her parents, and, if there is true justice somewhere in the cosmos, may Kennedy receive true justice from his maker.
R.I.P. Admiral Oldsmobile.
Kennedy stated he made a wrong turn on the way and came upon a narrow, unlit bridge without guardrails. Kennedy drove the 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 off the bridge and it overturned in the water. Kennedy extricated himself from the submerged car but Kopechne died, after what Kennedy said were several diving attempts to free her.
Kennedy contacted several aides that night, but failed to report the incident to the authorities until the car and Kopechne's body were discovered the next morning. No body evers brings this tragic story up anymore. When I heard of his death I thought, maybe now this bullshit universal health care plan will die. An those who want health care can go and get a job like everyone else.

The only difference between Teddy and the folks who are on the dole is that Teddy was born to a wealthy family. Since he never had to work, he identified with those who didn't want to work either.

I think we SHOULD name the new health insurance entitlement after Teddy....as long as it includes the exact same government{really taxpayer} funded insurance plan that he enjoyed all these yoars.
I don't know if it's true but I've read that at he time of the accident , TK was driving on a revolked drivers license and the law in MA at the time had mandatory jail time for such a crime BUT before TK went to court the MA legislature recinded the law and then afterwards once TK was sentenced the law was reinstated.
From reports of the condition of Mary Jo's body when recovered, it is very likely she survived the crash for some time, surviving on an air pocket in the corner of the car where she was found in a head up cowered up position in a upper corner of the car. Reports say there was air in her lungs.
Also, there were occupied houses with the porch light on a few hundred feet up the road in clear view from where he crashed.
TK reportedly swam across the water back to the hotel to -- avoid -- being seen.
It's also been written TK mockingly named his dog, "Splash".
If true what I find so amazing is the man was never apologetic and humbled after the accident. He was an arrogant partisan asshole.
I was taught to not speak I'll of the dead but good riddance to that shitbird. I need not acertain the veracity of the aforementioned reports as in my estimation the way the guy lived his life proves out to me he was real jag.

In my opinion Ted Kennedy was a very easy read. He had the arrogance of his father, and the catholic guilt of his mother. He felt guilty for his sins,of an excessive,life. He had all the pleasures, and did not have to work for a thing. He felt shame that he could not live up to his brothers. To justify this he set out on a liberal agenda of social conscience. He wanted to make sure the less fortunate would be looked after. He wanted to do this at the working persons expense. He wanted to make US all equal. He and his class would of course have to rule above us, because that is the way it is suppose to be. That is the arrogance of his father.

I agree with the post on this blog who stated Sen.Kennedy was no friend of the Police. And that the reckless homocide he was involved in would've sent anyone else to Prison. But given the negative slant of many of the posts, I feel compelled to play "Devil's Advocate." Many people considered Ted Kennedy a voice for those who had no voice in this country. I applaude his concern for the poor, but I feel he and other Democrats went too far with welfare entitlements. I think he was on the right side of history with his work on civil rights. Also his legislation for people with disabilities. His stance against the Iraq war was also correct. It was/is a waste of lives,manpower and taxpayer money. Last but not least, I also believe that history will prove him correct about the health care crisis we now face. We cannot afford to do nothing while heathcare costs rise at 3x"s the rate of inflation. Many people who think they are properly insured are finding out when they have a catasrophic illness, their insurer will pay only a fraction of the cost of treatment if that. Scared of rationing? you should be. Because the for profit insurance companies are already doing it. Senator Kennedy wasn't perfect. He was human just like all of us. He made mistakes just like all of us and all politicians do. He fought the good fight. He fought for the sick, elderly, and for the regular folks. He fought against politicians that lie to start wars, and against politicians that lie to keep Americans divided by class and race. He lived long enough to endorse Barack Obama and to try to save this nation from the damage that eight years of ineptness have brought. Rest in peace Senator, you've earned it. Good job.

Needless to say, this rat-bastard coward sued NatLamp (they were practically counting on it) and, according to the settlement, he was personally present when the original printing plate was sledge-hammered into oblivion.

Any regular non-clouted person that led his personal life the way Ole' Drunk 'n Drive Teddy did, would have a criminal record, be an ex-con and be unemployable. He is the prime example of the corrupt attitude that CAN be created by privilege and money and entitlement.

Not true. Excommunication only happens if you leave the priesthood and become a CPD Captain.
He was an imperfect man, to be sure. I don't admire him as a person. The way he handled Chappaquiddick was shameless. Mary Jo deserved better.
He did accomplish many positive things as a legislator. That legacy has helped a lot of people. The overall balance is certainly more positive for him than it is for Shortshanks.
God is the only one who decides where Ted goes.
Term limits is the only option.

Now here is sad news. Author Dominick Dunne died. He had a daughter who was murdered and always was on the side of the victim and never, ever for the offender. He wrote some excellent articles about horrible crimes. He will be missed.
