Um, Your Honor?

  • An 18-year-old man — already charged with murder — was charged in a separate incident Sunday for opening fire on seven people on a West Side street last Tuesday.

Hakeem Redmond, of the 3300 block of West Roosevelt Road, was charged with seven counts of aggravated battery with a firearm for shooting seven people July 28 in the 3400 block of West Walnut Street, according to police News Affairs.

Redmond allegedly shot seven males, including at least two teens, near Walnut Street and Homan Avenue at 10:43 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. Most of the seven males shot were on a sidewalk when Redmond began firing shots towards them, police said.

Redmond was previously charged on July 31 for fatally shooting a 22-year-old man on the West Side who was found in a vacant lot.

This guy sounds like the driving force behind Harrison District shooting stats, but he still gets a low enough bond after a homicide to go out and try to kill 7 more people.

Someone name the judge.

UPDATE: Ok, this appears to be a continuing investigation where the shooter was apprehended when someone decided to name him for the multiple shooting on Homan/Walnut and then the detectives backtracked him to the homicide and charged him. So he wasn't let to bail, but rather had his own little mini-crime spree underway when arrested. Hopefully, he's seen the last of daylight for a while.

SCC, he was just trying to clean up Homan & Walnut.

I think Hakeem just got tired of the constant bullshit that flowed from that corner and tried to take the law into his own hands!

He hadn't been pinched for the murder when he shot seven people. He was charged with the murder first and the shootings about 36 hours later. He was in custody the entire time.

How much was his bond that he was in jail for less than 24 hours?

Justice in this county is now more than a joke, it is shameful.

SCC: It's offenders like Hakeem who make it difficult for the Las Vegas Handicappers to determine the Shriek-end Homicide Totals. The stupid cocksucker shoots a total of eight people, but manages to only kill one of them. You should hear the bitching, "Oh shit, it's that Hakeem guy again! He's doing an encore and blowing up seven more."

Do you think Hakeem would do everyone a courtesy a take more careful aim?

He wasn't out on bond. He was arrested, charged with murder, and then charged with the shootings all within the last week.

DATE CHECK:

If he was charged on July 31st with murder then he would already been out to do the shootings on July 28

Maybe we shouldn't complain... he got rid of 7 POS gang bangers, even if it's only temporary. Besides, now he's going to be held without bond, another liberal asshole judge will be outed and embarrassed, and there are 7 more nails in the coffin of Daley & Burke's Olympic pipe dream!

And 7 new recruits for Ceasefire!

Please, someone name the idot judge that released him on bond. I'm sick and tired of this shit. Let the fuckin chips fall on every asshole they deserve to fall on. The problem starts at the top (the massively screwed up judges and court system)and filters down to (the new regiem). Look at the rap sheets on ANY of these criminals. In some cases they've been locked up 30-40 times!!!! WTF! Who do you think is locking these mutherfuckers up? Toothfaries? We're doing our jobs JFED. Before you start doing spars and coming out to our districts questioning us about what YOU think we don't do, get some balls and do your job, or at least learn what the fuck you have to do. Stand up for us! HELLO!!! we've been working without a contract for 2years, two years, t-w-o years! How's your contract lookin theses days?

The cook county court system is a laughing stock! The majority of the voting public never really get to see the joke that it is because they are never there. We as the police get it full force. Many times I sit in amazement at what I see in the court room. Often I sit stunned and in a daze with what I see sitting on the bench posing as a Judge. It's sick and it's just another reason we have de-policing. It's no surprise to me that this guy is out on bond. seen it before.

This kid obviously is a piece of shit, but the dates don't add up...He was charged with murder on the 31st July, and the shooting was the 31st at the church...
He never saw a judge it looked like they added the charge to his other 7 counts of agg battery...
His last arrest was for PCS a few months ago.
Doesn't appear another useless liberal ass Judge is to blame for this one, maybe an ASA for not charging him sooner???

Better yet SCC does anyone know what the BOND was? Jerry F of former SOS had a bond of around 4 million if I remember correct. And that bond was set PRIOR to him getting a price quote on painters if my memory serves me right.

I believe this Scumtimes story was just poorly written. The shooting of 7 happened on 28 July and he was "charged" with homicide 31 July, but it actually happened a week or so earlier. So he must've committed the homicide and then 7 agg bats before being caught in the first place.

As a 56 yr old private citizen watching the profound decline of the city in my life time, it is apparent to me when I read stories like this Hakeem jag off our justice system actually creates serial killers, rapists, robbers and so on. They all have lengthly arrest records (the police seem to be working) but they are either out of jail on various kinds of bonds or on parole. That leads to the obvious conlusion the Courts, IDOC, PRB and journalists are not functioning. Journalists? Yes journalists. They are supposed to hold government accountable with the public trust and they do nothing but pick which politician they want to side with, ultimately perpetuating the problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when someone is charged with attempt murder doesn't it appear as "murder-1st degree" in the charge section of clear? Maybe he was charged with attempt murder rather than aggravated battery due to it being daylight and a funeral where he could see who he was shooting rather than a drive by in the middle of the night. So my guess is he got scooped up on the 29th or 30th and charged within 48 hrs and actually hit with attempt murder, which would present as murder in clear.

NO. That's the sad part. Not unless laws change and not unless we have stricter rules on who can become a judge. You can have a complete imbecile (and trust me there are many) of a judge because he/she are politically clouted-up the ass. They may have limited experience in criminal courts, i.e. did real estate closing most of their law career and now they are calling the shots on criminal cases on the bench. It's like having a podiatrist do brain surgery. Who loses?? the victim.

Solution: start "outing" the bad calls made from the bench. Put them on a public forum, like this blog, maybe, maybe you will see some changes.

Why don't the liberal cop watch groups ride around the ghetto. Maybe someone will shoot and rob them so they can see what it is like to be a victim living in Chicago's useless judicial system. They need to become a victim in order to see the light!

We should be able to carry video cameras with us to show the public what kind of animals we deal with on an everyday basis. Cameras on domestics, shootings, gang fights, and just everyday hanging on the corners. Sleep all day, smoke weed, fuck bitches, get drunk, fuck bitches, make babies, get high, fuck bitches, sell dope, beat up your girl, pass out, and then do it all over again and again. What a life!

___

By law judges can't be sued for anything they do on the bench. If you are wondering why CC is the joke of the criminal justice system in this country this a one of the minor reasons why. I dont't have enough time to try and list the others.

Hakeem should be given an award for having the most effective disperal at Homan and Walnut, I need an event # for a 9mm disperal. One of the worst corners in 011. We can always hope for one of these shootings every week to finally get this spot cleared. The block and the store owners are dirty POS.

the kids in the Navigator on Augusta were lost heading back the suburbs. They were not gangbangers..A van rammed them, their car flipped and hit a pole. The ramming vehicle remaining on scene- driver and occupants bailed-had a shot out back window and a bullet hole through a headrest...Perhaps the van was being chased by another set of POSs when they happened upon the lost Navigator.
