Felons in the Gym
Makes us want to run right out and start using the Academy gym:
- I just wanted to let you know about an incident that happened at the academy a couple of days ago. I am in the gym working out, I see two f/1's walking around, they both enter the gym look around and leave, two guy also working out see this and step outside into the hallway to see what they are doing. (They did not look like cops and if they were they should work undercover). So, I’m done working out and I’m leaving for the locker room, as I step out I see the two guys asking them questions. Both f/1’s were civilians and entered the academy to use the bathroom, they were asked how long they been in, both said 20 + mins, asked were they lived they said across the street. From what I know, across the street is section 8, and from what I remember they sell crack out of that place. Anyway, they were told that they could not be in here and that’s when the f/1’s started to talk shit. “I pay taxes, I pay your salary, and we could be in here if we want too.” “I know police, who you to tell me I can’t be in here.” Both were escorted out of the building, some word’s were said between the officer at the desk and the two guys that escorted the f/1’s out. From what I heard standing by the doors, none of the words were nice. I spoke with a det. Inside the locker room about this, he also said that one day he was in the locker room when 4 m/1’s walked in, two of the m/1’s he said have been arrested for guns. Both were playing basketball with other kid’s totaling about 20-30. I just wanted to let you know that I am done working out at the gym in the academy, this weekend I will be shopping around for a bow-flex to put it in my house and do my work outs with my two little one’s. Both 4 months old. I will take this job serious when the department takes it serious.
Let's just say if we wanted to hang around off-duty with the type of people we lock up while on-duty, we wouldn't have put the Academy at the top of the list - until recently we guess. Just another bright idea from the idiots running the show. And yes, we are aware that the Park District contributed to the renovation of the gym and as part of the "agreement," the gym had to be available to citizens. We would also note that we and others predicted exactly this type of occurance once the gym was open to the public. We take no pleasure in our and our readers being correct - it just shows that common sense is a rare commodity in the people running this circus.

How did they get in? I went to visit an academy employee, I was made to cough up my drivers license and wear a visitors badge around my kneck the whole time i was in the building.
There are no words to describe the sadness that I feel when I see how far this job and this Department have fallen.
Did any of these UUW ball players get to meet Sir Elton?
I think we should invite the "Grand Crossing Kid" to the academy. I betcha the 12 year old will figure out away to don some recruit's uniform and attend classes for awhile.
I will even volunteer to buy the "Grand Crossing Kid" a white shirt with oak leaves.
Send those felons over to City Hall or 3510 and they will blend right in.
Actually, the park district backed out of the deal with the renovations. The gym is not supposed to be open to the public.
Oh gosh. Just wait until there is a gun stolen out of the academy and used in a homicide. How many millions will that cost the city????

I havent been to the gym on Friday nites lately.However, at about 2200 on Friday nites the gym looked like a midnight basketball tournament from the mid 1990s that they use to have.I would get dirty stares from these mutts as i would walk by-this in a police facility.

My local park district gym is not open for free if I want to use it for my kids and their friends 25-30bucks an hour; use the Ag HS Gym $20 for a 20 visit pass!

I was at the academy four weeks ago. I went into the locker room and saw four M-1's in their twenties whispering/talking to each other in a low voice. I followed the voice and I observed them fucking with someone's locker. I asked them what they were doing and immediately they ran the fuck out of the locker room and ran outside.
Later I learned that a P.O. put his gun in that locker.
This is a total and outright fucking joke. I can't believe this is happening to my department.

What ever happened to the 12th district officer that worked the desk and questioned bartender Bea Cuello when she walked in the academy in civilan clothes & no ID? She was supposedly sent to the 4th/5th district for questioning Cuello? Anyone know?
This is no surprise, while I was at the academy a few years ago as a new P.O. After we were done with our classes there were plenty of special citizens from the hood coming in to "study" in the lunch room.
Haven't worked out at the Academy in some time now, just don't feel my personal effects are secure enough in the locker room with
some of the trash wandering about.
When the get rid of 'ol Ruthie, I'll feel better about the place, I'm sure!

What in the fuck is happening to common sense in this world?
I'm sure stuffing a rug in the door is convenient when you're taking a smoke break on the side of the building, but don't leave it in there when you're done. I'm sure one or two of these trespassers have gotten in through the side door.
The security desk can no longer ask anyone for their Id's, unless they want to get dumped, thanks to "the bartender".
Honestly though, what's it matter, nobody is training there these days anyways, nobody is going to train there for a while judging from how the city is hiring new PPO's. Who gives a shit, let the clouted assholes deal with them. No offense to the chaplains, btw.
Fucking bullshit! WHat they should've done during the renovation was update the security around the building, especially that side door to the basketball court on Loomis. I bet they sneak right in through there. If you're a P.O. then you should be able to swipe your card to get access the facility, visitors should get buzzed in after speaking to a P.O. through an intercom. Jesus Christ there's condos with better security than the Chicago Police Academy! Unfuckingbelievable!!!

True. It's at the discretion of the ADS/Commander to allow Public use of the facilities. However think of the Academy as one of the Community Rooms in the newer district stations.
The Park Dist. reneged on the deal to pay for the gym and the CPD had to foot the bill.
The Academy is supposed to be a secure private city facility (private = no none CPD employees)
The reason is because of the range, the range equipment (= guns and ammo), staff lockers with guns and ammo, staff equipment (= uniforms) taining equip etc etc etc.
If anyone is at the Academy and finds and unauthorized person in the building, call for a supervisor. Let the supervisor handle the situation.
Although, most of the supervisors would do nothing to the person that let the unauthorized individual in, let the supervisor handle it and get that supervisors name.
It's time to stop all this "touchy- feely" stuff and get back to being the police. No bangers playing b-ball at the CPD gym, no bangers playing in our district parking lots, where they can take down our licenses and makes of car.
We take it to their cribs, not vice versa!
It's too bad that we can't let the kids from the hood in to use the gym, but THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH.

Those were the Chicago Police and Fire Training Academy students. Its an after school program designed to steer kids into careers as P.O's or Firemen and weeds out the bad seeds pretty well. If you want to be honest, a lot of good P.O.'s have come from the "hood", and there are more than a few graduates of the program on the job now.
Daley can use the money he collected from Obama for the election night security. Oops, I'm sorry did we ever collect that money or were the Obama Democrats let off the hook again and left the taxpayers on the hook. AGAIN!
Wait until we have the first gang-bang shooting IN THE ACADEMY. Then the rules will change.

This is extremely distressing. The academy is a police facility and all the rules relating to a police facility should apply to it. THis dept has become a fucking joke just like this whole city.

I was there the other day & saw four M/1's in their 20's playing basketball.

Those people couldn't find honor or dignity in a dictionary. They are never ever to be followed into battle for they won't be leading, they will order you to go first. Supervisors today are spineless gutless pukes. Call one for what? Go pull your prick instead, it will feel better.
What's the dif? There's a fucking ATM machine in 007, you have to crawl over homeless stinky bums in A/002 to go to court and they act like you're walking through their living rooms, and the wineheads steal all the bottled water for the senior citizens in 004. The city that works. If you don't.
This is BULL S---. All of you are way to gullable. Also, even if it were true then shame on the coppers who were not challenging people not wearing ID'S for 20 minutes at 2330.
I have always been asked to show and wear my ID entering the door. It is a little annoying at times but obviously it is needed. Not to mention all the signs up al over the place.

It is only hard for a PO to get in. A savage can just walk in, no problem. Face it, we have lost. Savages sleeping in police stations, snatching officer's weapons and killing one of us and still, the savage is allowed to sleep and gather in and around our police stations like they are a fucking hobo camp built just for them.
As a unit rep the desk crews complain to me about the disease ridden creatures all over. I tell them to fill out a communicable disease report each and every day a wheezing, coughing, stinking savage takes up a homestead in or in front of a police station. Then we will file a grievance, a regular grievance.
They all, to a person, decline to do this. they think me filing a safety grievance will mean something. It will not. A safety grievance can be filed by anyone, any sworn member can submit one, it is no secret, the instructions are in your FOP book.
No one does. I stopped filing safety grievances because they are meaningless. Even if the City loses one they are non binding, hence they are mere recommendations. Worthless pieces of paper. Don't bother. The Commander's all answer them with bullshit, you cannot win.
Officers protect yourself, wear masks, do not ever depend on the Chicago Police Department to look out for your well being. Never. That way you will never be disappointed.

I am puzzled as to why you think you need a supervisor to make an arrest when someone is clearly in violation of the law. Trespassing requires notice and there is plenty of signage around the building restricting access. Step up and take action. That is why they gave you a star.
What's the big deal? You have pregnant cops doing baby showers in 025's basement. Family and friends all parking in the station lot and using the basement lunchroom.
a few years ago we had a janitor in 010 working nights. Plenty of people were missing coffee cups, batons, flashlights and then a few guns and vest came up missing from the lockers. The tact team pinshed the janitor for selling crack on 16th street. He fessed up to breaking into lockers and taking property from the station. Then we found out he was doing the same thing in 011 and when caught was just transferred to another district. The point of this message is, do not trust any civilian working in the station. And, unfortunately a few of your fellow officers.
Thats too funny. I remember when the new gym opened and they didn't want ppo's working out in it. Funny how they don't have a problem with felons using the facility.

Hey! We can get Marquette Park police to stand as securityAt the academy. They do a great job in 008 catching and holding offenders like DUI's domestic battery offenders and an occasional kid who steals cheetos from the gas stations. They even try and code jobs.

That gym should be a place where PO's can come to work out and recuperate from eight stressful hours of being underappreciated and in general screwed over. to the moron who said I should see it for myself, well I did my homework and the young men who attend the basketball program on Friday nights are not felons, they are highschool and college students and some are kids of CPD and CFD. They are all required to register. How about if some of you filthy mouthed coppers come out and see for yourself. Maybe you can pick up a few lessons in manners, you see I found that one of the rules in the gym does not allow cursing and swearing. Also these kids are the same group from a mentoring program that have come out for years, most play on their school's basketball teams. Stop all the assumptions, open your minds to truthful knowledge before you open your mouth with filthy arrogant rhetoric. Regarding all the other incidents, I wasn't there so I can't speak about it . I try not to judge and speak on issues that I can not back up with facts. Isn't that what real cops are suppose to do?
The academy never had so much heat on here...hmmm, why is that? I know she only brought a few friends over. But one problem she forgot we only have 40 recruits. Oh well for every 1 recruit there are 5 Police, 3 Sgt. and 2 Lt. but the Commander will be busy kissing butt down at IAD or going to a other airport! Does anyone really like her besides the people she brought to the academy? NO! It time PO's to stand up and say enough with the (concert) circus shows down at the academy! SO Pleaseeee Pleaseeee do not just move her but remove her off the job!! Thank You All Chicago Police Officers!!!!
