The Way it Should Be
- A Chicago man was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer after a Saturday incident in west suburban Oswego.
Victor Smith, 20, of the 1700 block of East 81st Street in Chicago, was in the Kendall County jail after being charged with aggravated battery to a police officer in the 1400 block of Light Road in Oswego, the Kendall County Sheriff's office said.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a call at apartments on Light Road, and arrested Smith for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor when he allegedly spit on the officer.
Later, Smith also was charged with resisting a correctional officer at the jail.
Sounds like the asshole won't be seeing Chicago for a few years. It's nice to see the law applied as it was meant to be applied without the ridiculous bullshit of jumping through hoops that CPD has to do.

Ah, the counties outside of crook county. Where the law is still the law and the police can enforce it.
Too bad the deputies couldn't light him up.
This is off topic but it is worth addressing: the most common occuring theme that is mentioned time and again is that all we can count on is each other. I too believe in that creed. However, there are cops (CPD) out there that do not show their own any kind of respect what-so-ever. Case in point, beat car in 18, on third watch, responds to an auto accident. I on-view the auto accident, and since my wife was in the vehicle that was struck, call it in, leave star number, ect.. When said officer starts his investigation, he first talks to the driver of the clearly at fault vehicle (driver did not even make an attempt to stop at stop sign because she was on her cell phone). When he talks to the drive of the vehicle that my wife was in, I told the officer that I on-viewed the accident, announced my office, and tried to explain what happened. He told me, based on what the driver of the at fault vehicle relayed to him, that the driver of the car that my wife was in, was at fault. He wrote the driver a ticket, and let the at fault driver go, without any tickets. Not only did he not conduct a proper investigation, he did not want to listen to anything another P.O. had to say. What the fu-k is wrong with this picture? To top it off, at the end of the conversation, he wanted to see who had the bigger dick, and knowing that I don't have sh-t to prove to anybody, laughed at the old crusty bitch. All B.S. aside it's morons like him that give the rest of us a bad name. No matter who you are, the least we can do is respect each other. Don't we get enough disrepect from J-fed, short-shanks, ABC, NBC, CBS, shun-times, tribune, ect? I just hope stories like these are few and far between.
we would get charges for agg batt here also ...

Few years back I had my finger almost bitten off, simple battery, state asked if I was going to lose the finger, when told no, they said simple battery.
Cook County is a joke! I ran into two state's attny's for Dupage County and they were laughing at how things are done in Cook! They both work in the felony review office in Dupage and said they really look out and take care of their police! If the police get spit on, pushed, slapped... they said they absolutely charge them!
It was really interesting to hear how night and day things are handled.
Please... We (CPD)have our own axes to grind regarding how felony offenders are charged.
Outside of Chicago and especially outside of Cook County, the law is actually applied and fools like this are charged ACCORDING TO STATUTE... No dicking around with Felony Refused.
No faxing 30 pages of documents on the only fax in the district that works.
No repeated phone calls about "we didn't get the fax, send it again." (actually had to go to Kinko's on one occasion because of this foolishness.)
No refusal to approve while the offense clearly fits the statute because one jackass bailed from the car but you have three heads and a weapon (tech-9)wedged butt-up and accessible to EVERYONE in the vehicle!
Getting an over-ride then not being able to get anything else for months because you dared to go over "their" heads.
Please... Felony Review is just another ugly head on the Chicago/Cook County patronage hydra.
I agree with 5:09 a.m., the a.s.a.'s will approve charges for a punk spitting on a copper each and every time. At least, that has been my experience.
This happened in Oswego, but the guy has an address on the south side? This seems to be a trend. We just had the Aurora P.D. in our district hooking up a guy for a murder case that he did out there, but lives on the south side. The dick said that the guy rides the train out to the 'burbs to hang.
Is this a trend, or has this been going on for a while?
I told the officer that I on-viewed the accident, announced my office, and tried to explain what happened.
Maybe he thought it was an integrity check. Why tell anyone ur a copper anyway?
ASA will approve felony charge initially then come court time offer a reduced charge so sh*t bird can cop a plea to misdemeanor.

Sure we would. And the offender would get a plea deal of a misdemeanor and probation.
Just had charges approved for Agg batt to a P.O. and I was not injured.
it's because in Oswego, the cops are under the control of a rational, principled law enforcement agency, not working in a corrupt double-Standard Department, in a totally corrupt city, and county. People we ARE, the laughing stock of the nation, really, we are. Just go out of state and ask the average person's opinion of Chicago, its Mayor, its Police, etc. You will be in for a rude awakening if you havent done so already. This whole shebang is totally embarrassing to ethical law enforcement officers of Chicago, Cook county, and the State .
You're right SCC, it truly is nice to see the law working on the side of police officers. We get battered and spit on daily. Only in Chicago is acceptable for assholes to fight, bite, kick an spit on us and we are supposed to take it while they walk free. I didn't sign on this job to take this shit but I do because that's the nature of being a chicago cop. Now when an asshole like the drunk in the hospital spits on PO Cozzi, he should have had the right to crack him. Why? Because us POs never signed anything that said we give up our rights to not be battered by jagoffs. If they want that, put it in the job description and make us sign off on it.
Attorney, Attorney, Attorney.
Traffic accident
Sounds like you need one. Sounds like a false arrest to me, Traffic tickets are an arrest , Quit bitching and go talk with one. Play the game
I remember very clarly, having an officer call the on duty hot line to the S.A. office in Kane county a long time ago, and after listening to the Officer argue with the A.S.A. about felony charges for attacking him, I said in a very load voice, "hang up and call the States Attorney", Charges wer authorized right then and there . Things changed that night and it talkes someone standing up and be counted.
What I don't understand is that the ILCS lists statutes and which are misdemeanor's and felony's. Nowhere does it say a specific crime is a felony in Illinois except for Shitcago or Crook county. If the ILCS statute defines an offense as a felony then it should be a felony. Plain and simple. Look I just saved Cook county tens of thousands of dollars in payroll. Eliminate felony review and apply the law as it was written.
Last year we had a homicide in which we needed help from McHenry County...idiot ASA was of zero help and had to go directly to a judge, who was a little pissed off (fortunately at the idiot ASA).
Next had to go to DuPage...night and day difference. Joe Birkett would get my vote.
Just be glad you're not in McHenry County. states attorney bianchi and his cronies are attempting to indict two county deputies (patrolmen) for entering a house while serving an arrest warrant after the wanted individual who was identified by the deputies slammed a door onto the deputies before retreating into the house. Trying to say they needed a warrant to enter the house? Another example of how times have changed and how the states attorney is not our friend. Be safe out there
McHenry County ASA's are all jokes. plain and simple.

Read the statute and it will state cleary whether a crime is a felony or misdemeanor and the class of the offense. If you don't know what the fuck you are talkingabout don't post this horseshit on here. Get a clue
From a suburban citizen troller: Smith is fucked. He is in our county jail. He will go to our county court and we will find him guilty. Then we will send him to jail. You are right SCC, he is going to be out of the city for a while and his Stupid momma and equally stupid baby mommas are going to have to drive to maybe Galesburg to see his sorry ass.
