Which Fox to Watch Henhouse?

  • With little more than a month until the International Olympics Committee decides whether Chicago will get the 2016 Summer Games, aldermen and the Daley administration are unveiling new ordinances that they say would provide greater oversight should the city's bid prevail.

Ald. Manuel Flores (1st) held a news conference to pitch a measure that would empower the city's inspector general to monitor the Olympic committee if Chicago hosts the Games. Separately, Mayor Richard Daley's administration introduced a plan to let two aldermen sit on the organizing committee if Chicago wins its 2016 bid.

So Daley's plan is to let two members of the august body known as the City Council, a body that has had 26 members go to prison over the past 30 years, keep an eye on what is sure to be a $15 billion boondoggle. Burke being one of the two is laughable.

Flores' plan is to let the Inspector General keep an eye on things. Unfortunately, the IG just resigned to run for the Senate and the replacement will be appointed by Shortshanks. We don't even know if the IG has to be confirmed by the City Council, but it would be the height of irony if it were so.

So many bad choices, so little time.

Hello fellow gang and tac officers! I hope you're all doing well. I'd like to take this time to clear something up. First off, I didn't get to where I am by being a kiss ass. Washing the alderman's and my tac lieutenants cars during the summer was something I enjoyed doing. I didn't do it because I felt like I had to. Big difference you jealous blue shirt losers! It's called initiative. Try it sometime.

After today I strongly support that any cops, especially those in uniform, and over the age of 55, retire and here's why. Me and my partner, Rudy Thanosaurus the III, were driving around today when low and behold, we stumbled upon this old lazy copper sleeping in his cruiser, in a parking garage. This really burned me up. What if we arrested a PERP and needed this cop to transport him to the station for us? (God forbid I drive my own PERP arrest to the station with no cage in the car. That would be kind of scary.) The old fogie wouldn't answer the radio in his slumber. I thought of reporting the old man to his Sgt. or maybe even the Captain, but feeling generous, I got out of my car to wake him. I felt kind of bad for the relic. He looked about 60 years old and was still wearing a blue shirt. I hoped he had experienced the joys of being on tac at least once at some point in his career. Or the great sense of accomplishment one feels after finding bags of cocaine shoved up another man's ass.

My partner shouted a warning before I woke him. "Hey, don't you know who that is? That's Graveyard Roberts. He's an ex-Vietnam veteran that was awarded the purple heart and he's got 20 plus years on the job." Well first of all, I called bullshit. The Vietnam war happened in the 50's. No way would any cop still be on the job that was in that war. Second, I don't know what the "purple heart" award is, but it couldn't be any more important then the medal I wore for obtaining 1,000 honorable mentions in my 4 year career.

I wrapped on the car window until Rip VanWinkle got out with a bemused look on his face. "Rise and shine pops." I said, "let's try not to embarrass ourselves or the department any further. Let's try to do at least some work out here." The next thing I knew, the old bastard punched me in the face with his ham like fist, then kicked me in my beanbag like he was punting a field goal! I vomited then fell to the ground. The last thing I remember hearing, before I passed out, was the old man telling my partner, "If that fat, tanned, hair gelled retard, ever talks to me like that again, I'll slit both your fucking throats!"

After I woke up, I did the only thing a man could do at that point. I went straight to I.A.D. and got a number on him for disrespecting a tactical officer. So I showed him! Anyway, enough about me. To all my fellow gang and tac and Delta Force officers, stay safe out there!

The Sun-Times reports: A $119,064-a-year Chicago Fire Department battalion chief has been slapped with a 15-day suspension for sleeping through a South Side fire in June. As his firefighters battled a house blaze started by a firebomb, Chief DeKalb Walcott was back in the firehouse, sound asleep.

Part 2 from the IOC's Evaluation report:

Here is some other interesting information... who makes these decisions?

SECURITY
CHICAGO
22
Responsibility and command structure
The Games would be considered a National Special Security Event (NSSE) with the Federal Government assuming ultimate financial and operational responsibility for security. The Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department would lead the Chicago Olympic Public Safety Command (COPSC). The OCOG would be fully integrated into the command structure. Under this unified and integrated command structure, over-all security planning and venue specific security procedures would be a joint effort between the COPSC and the OCOG which, significantly, would be located in the same building, both in the preparatory phase and during the Games.
Safety and security personnel
Chicago and the USA have an excellent infrastructure and a well trained and equipped security and public safety apparatus. Chicago is capable of providing the level of security and safety required for the Games

not with 9500 officers we are not

Even on Furlo? In the academy? Tact is OK, but remember, YOU ARE STILL A BLUESHIRT! The only numbers you (in particular) get higher than regular patrol are CRs and LAWSUITS! You must be the 100th assisting officer of a stolen vehicle that began in another district, and you happened to be in the 4 square mile area where the other officers caught and arrested the suspect. Another thing to remember: After all of that, IS YOUR SALARY HIGHER? Tact=Patrol, different packaging, same great flavor!

I can't wait to see how badly he fucks up the CPS now. If the IOC had to factor in the state of the CPS, it's faculty and students in making it's decision, we'd be rejoicing at losing the bid come October 2nd.

And speaking of Luberman, he also was on the morning news claiming that the grade changing "scandal" would be thoroughly investigated and not tolerated. Yeah, right. More smoke and mirrors, Chicago Style.

Now I know that some people will say that its only two dollars at Juv-ct and that we get paid to be there but that is not always true I.E. people who are working days. OT - Madison's Official City Bird: The Plastic Pink Flamingo

MADISON, Wis. -- One of the greatest college pranks ever has inspired Madison leaders to name the plastic pink flamingo the city's official bird.

The Madison City Council voted 15-4 Tuesday to give the plastic bird the distinction.

The photo is worth the trip:

Our City officials preferred to honor the Jailbird as our city's Official bird! The Jailbird has a long history in our City Council, (26 members in 30 years and more on the way!), and they can even talk, although they talk out of both sides of their mouth and don't ever tell the truth!

The Jailbird won out over stiff competition from the Bald-faced Liar Eagle, the Common Corrupt Condor, the Empty-walleted Fleeced Taxpayer and the Money Grubbing Buzzard.

Wonder what the official city flower will be?

...Defenders of installing surveillance cameras everywhere often insist that they're necessary and useful in stopping and solving crime. Yet, even that's being called into serious question, as a study of London's widespread use of CCTV cameras, found that for every 1,000 cameras installed, only one crime has been solved. On top of that, when faced with a crime, the CCTV cameras are rarely that useful. The report found that CCTV cameras were used to catch just 8 out of 269 suspected robbers. And these cameras aren't cheap to install or maintain, making some begin to question if anti-crime budgets couldn't be spent more wisely...

Cook County Investigators Enter Rockford Case
September 2, 2009 5:33 PM

Cook County investigators and U.S. Justice Department mediators have headed to Rockford in a bid to restore public confidence after the recent fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man by two Rockford police officers.

In what could be a watershed moment for how the city handles such cases, the Cook County Public Integrity Task Force -- made up of Illinois State Police and Cook County state's attorney's office investigators -- is looking into the Aug. 24 death of Mark Anthony Barmore.

Officials said it was the first time in memory a police shooting in the community would be investigated by an outside agency.

Barmore, an African-American, was shot by two white police officers who chased him into a day-care center before opening fire in front of about a dozen young children.

The most important line:
Sorry, just so I understand: The aldermen voted that the aldermen could not be investigated?
That’s right. That was 1989. When I was appointed, questions started coming up: What about giving the IG’s office the power to investigate aldermen? The mayor commented something along the lines of: "Well, that’s up to the aldermen."

Strong rumors are floating that Weis will shut down the CPD detail at Obama's house completely on Oct 1st and hand it completely to the Secret Service.

We get a President from this city and the cheapskate cock suckers want to strip police protection from the President's house!

Does Barack know about this? Does Rahm? someone ought to tell them.

Recorded telemarketing calls illegal without written permission begins today.
Banks, debt collectors, political parties, charities are exempt.

Politicians exempted themselves. Any politician that robo calls me will not receive my vote.

Word is, J-Fed is going after a bunch of tact and gang guys from a bunch of northside districts (019 & 023)for Rule 14...be careful boys and girls, he is on the war-path and his last year is going to be the worst!!!

Major indictments, even some pro-P.O. non-clouted bosses going down and severe changes as you know it, the rest of Daley's agenda will be pushed through. If you think morale couldn't get any worse, think again. Its going to be a long year!

The President dosent live there. He "stays at" the White House. He has been back to the home here in Chicago for about 45 minutes since taking office. More importantly, isnt that what the USSS is for?

* CHICAGO DEVELOPMENT CRITICS FIGHT FOR ANONIMITY. The Electronic
Frontier Foundation (EFF) has asked an Illinois Circuit Court judge to quash subpoenas aimed at outing opponents of a controversial city project. In December, local residents filed a lawsuit in state court against the city of Chicago and local developers, challenging the legality of a development project in the city's Uptown neighborhood.
In response, the "Wilson Yard Defendants," six lawfirms associated with Chicago developer Peter Holsten, issued subpoenas directing Google and a local neighborhood association to unmask anonymous online critics who had discussed either the project or Alderman Helen Shiller, the primary governmental sponsor of the project.
