State of emergency? Safe passage? Jesse is actually invoking shades of Little Rock, Arkansas:
Jackson reminded mourners that in 1957, the National Guard was needed to escort black students into a previously all-white Arkansas school to provide them with safe passage.
"We need the same intervention today," Jackson said, to cheers and shouts of "amen" from the crowd. "They did it in Little Rock. Do it in Chicago!"
Jesse needs a history lesson we think:
- The governor of Arkansas sent the National Guard in to prevent the Little Rock Nine from attending a segregated school;
- Eisenhower sent the 101st Airborne Division in to enforce the Supreme Court ruling and then nationalized the entire Arkansas National Guard to take control away from the Arkansas governor;
- Following a year of tension, the Arkansas National Guard was redeployed, this time in accordance with the Supreme Court order.
That was to combat segregationists. This situation is a little different we'd say:
- gang on gang crime;
- no one is fighting to keep these kids out of school - they don't want to be there;
- the deceased is on video throwing punches - while this doesn't mean he deserved to die, it does call into question the extent of his participation;
And Jesse is forgetting that the National Guard isn't really appropriate in this case. These are, for a large part, combat troops, veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. They aren't really suited, and have never been suited, for police work. Their Rules of Engagement are different than the laws the police operate under. We'd imagine the "reverends" and street corner lawyers would have a field day interpreting alleged violations of civil rights.
So once again, hyperbole for the sake of publicity and ignorance fed to the masses via a compliant and complicit media. Everyone makes noise, then everyone forgets. The Chicago Police Department will continue to be undermanned.

Jesse and all the other reverends need to realize that there is little or no family structure in these areas. For many, Fathers Day is a confusing day. This is black killing black. Call out the national guard and the Rev's will start screaming about brutality. Start taking responsibility for your offspring, it sure isn't any of my children doing the shooting over there ! Secondly, all kids in public schools should have to go thru psychological testing every year. The questions asked could be about homelife, the gangs in school, exposure to guns and drugs in the home or at school and exposure to violence. You could then begin to profile the trouble makers and begin intervention. You could also find out who the bullies and trouble makers are in a descreet way.
The last thing you need is this asshole, fake preacher, spewing his hate, talking shit and collecting donations. He is the problem!

I gotta tellya the disrespect I see towards the police in this city today actually frightens me. Most of us are walking on eggs, or walking sideways. generating the bullshit numbers they want but not doing actual Police work.
The CPD is under strength and the Command staff is heavily politicized. Individual officers feel like they are just out there on the streets looking out for each other. Officers face criticism from all quarters if they try to simply do their jobs. Do some real police work and an officer has a good chance of seeing a stack of papers from Loevy & Loevy.
The ministers scream and complain every time there is any type of incident in the hoods. Do something and the police get crucified, don't do something and the result is the same.
They have the police department they have been clamoring for. Reactive report takers, that is all. Who on this job wants to rush to a gang fight? Who wants to rush to anything? They will be met with hordes of screaming individuals with cell phone cameras looking for someone to sue.
As they sow, so shall they reap. The are getting what they asked for, a police department that leaves people alone and now Jesse Jackson is screaming for the National Guard. That won't happen.

And still Officer Cozzi languishes in a prison in Louisiana. That was what, Jody Weis's attempt to gain the immediate attention of officers? He got it. Tell me Jody, how did it work out for you to railroad Officer Cozzi into a federal prison for eight years for a previously convicted misdemeanor charge of battery? Did it have the intended result?
The CPD is in a holding pattern now. Everyone knows that Weis is a terribly flawed and failed Superintendent who has neither the hearts nor minds of the department. We are all just waiting for his time here to wind down so we can get on to the next "leader." I'm sure Daley has at least a few more clout babies willing to have a go at it in exchange for the large salary.

Actually he was a dixiecrat an offshoot of democrats. Later the dixiecrats joined what is now the republican party,ex: Sen Strom Thurmond. This is known in Political Science as the "Great Realignment" of the political parties. The "father" of the new republican party was Nixon when he developed the Southern Stratergy. From 1870 up until about 1965 the majority of blacks were republicans.

There could possibly be no answer to this, there has not been one in over 60 years that I know of. Maybe they might try voting Republican. Almost every civil right law, starting with freeing the slaves came from the REPUBLICANS, not the democrats. The liberal democrats are now using the blacks to socialize this country. The POs should evaluate the supervisors, not the other way around. That would improve the department. In our district we have sergeants who play video games on the desk sergeant's computer for eight hours. Others surf e-bay. And they are supposed to evaluate us?

Don't they ever search the travel sites and book airline tickets like in my district? How about checking their stock portfolio, personal email or YouTube? All of the above, but not ever, not even once, can they check the Illinois Lottery results. The Department wisely blocks that as gambling related.
And they have the gall to order us to do what they will not do.
We have a Sgt. who gives orders to the troops on the street from the safety of the Sgt's room in the basement. He takes charge of crime scenes, gives orders and checks status etc. all from the comfort of the Sgt's bunker.
And still, they have the gall to order us to do what they will not do. Sickening.
Is Jesse's Operation Push donating any $ towards the buses for "safe passage" of these kids to school? Will he be standing on the corner making sure all is good?
This is the police department that the citizens, media-types, reverends, politicians and lawyers wanted. They wanted a non-aggressive department AND now they got it.
So, Jesse, what's the problem???
Mr. Mayor you carry a lot of the blame. If you did not have such a weak, low self-esteem personality and had some actual common sense, you would be supporting loudly and clearly the working police officer. You would stand up to the "silliness" that pass for activism. But you don't have the courage.
All of you demand the impossible of a cop that he be perfect in all ways at all times in all things. Well, such a cop does not exist. Call for perfection all you want, there is only One who is perfect. So, since He is busy governing the universe, the rest of you have to deal with us. And since you don't want to support us, you get what you asked for.
Who knows, maybe there is some truth to this 2012 thing and all will be made pefect at that time. It certainly beats dealing with the constantly unsatisfied likes of all the Jesse Jacksons out there!
The Guard is nowhere to be found anyways, they're either deployed or getting ready to redeploy to Afghanland.

THIS IS SO WRONG! on so many levels. there is such a shortage of front line officers AND supervisors, jut look at the numbers. and we are being asked to do so much more.
how many officers are working their a$$ off just making ends meet, 6 straight days on 2 off till weekends hit, extra side jobs, court, etc. EVERYONE needs down time to take care of their personal business, to just shut down AND yes while at work if circumstances permit...DO NOT BE A HATER!
