- The officers who work at Fenger were dumped out of the school after Weis met with the principal. These officers were the ones who were instrumental in identifying the offenders from the beating. The principal tried to remove the white officer earlier because he is WHITE without ever having met him.
This is the sixth principal that these officers have been at Fenger under and now suddenly they are the problem? Jesse Jackson met with the principal and now it becomes the officers fault.
Weis caved like the coward that he is in this matter as he does in every other matter.
This is yet another example of the complete ineffectiveness of Weis' leadership. Jody to put in bluntly YOU SUCK

Weis was on 890 this morning, said the children are angry (why the government gives them almost everything) and they need classes on problem resolution. Right, he also didn't answer how many officers are on the street. If us working cops would not work one man cars for the reason of saftey, they would have to hire more. A friend at the training division said classes have been not started again this month. Those who are not the police reading this, we fought hard for two man cars years ago because we were getting hurt, now the bosses have these new kids believing they are super cops.

if so, this is just another case of parents (more like just breeders), students (if they can be really called students), community leaders (look at their community to see what a great job they are doing), and our own leaders (more like followers of some other puppeteer) finding someone else to blame for their own shortcomings.

An officer called the "Steve and Johnie Show" on WGN Radio yesterday to complain about this piece of crap WEIS.
He put together a very good case and explained why morale is in the gutter.

Do you think that the VALID AND JUSTIFIED police response would have been appreciated and praised?
THE ANSWER IS NO !!
What would have happened is that the incident with Police responding to an already escalated attack would have been bastardized and exploited as excessive force. The Anonymous Videographer would have captured the Police response and suddenly the first half of the recording would disappear.
The valid response would have been MEDIA-spun into an unjustified attack by police on these poor little public school "students".
Any Copper that wishes to respond is, of course not going to get any BS from me..in fact, I would probably be compelled to intervene immediately as well, but is our career and our own family's well being really worth it?

A million Police Officers wouldn't make a god blessed bit of difference because the Supt., The media, and the overall public opinion of the Police have tied our hands. What happened at Fenger is no different than what occurs throughout the city at schools that have a black and hispanic population. The resources set forth by the police department is "criminal" knowing that the tax payers are left at a severe disadvantage to have police respond to an emergency they may have. Of course, no boss will EVER acknowledge this in public or to the media.

On another note, I'm a little put off by all the comments saying that the victim was a savage that got what he had coming for being involved. Yes, the camera shows he was fighting, but we don't know what led up to the donnybrook. Maybe he was sticking up for a friend that was being harassed or, if he was such a studious bookworm like the media and his family says, he might have tried to "man up." We all remember in h.s. how if you let a pack of bullys mess with you, then it won't end until you punch them in the face.
And to the media, yeah this was a tragedy, but believe it or not, it happens everyday! Any cop in a somewhat busy district can tell you that these little battle royals occur all the time at schools, playgrounds, football and basketball games etc. This kid dieing was kind of a freak occurrence. That's why, even though we are short handed, the bosses will always down a car at the h.s. stadium in case a riot breaks out.

I have met a good handful of school officers. Most are from the previous "school unit" and have worked these schools for years. Their knowledge of both the school and the students (if you can call them that) are invaluable. What happened at Fenger happens at every south and west side school at dismissal EVERY DAY! I believe that those officers did everything they could have done while dozens upon dozens of ANIMALS take over the streets and start a "free for all". To put any blame on these officers, any officers or the police department is RIDICULOUS! Human beings do not become ANIMALS at school or because of run ins with the police. It all starts and ends at home. The parents and the community are who to blame for this kids death and just about every CPS kids death. They are responsible for their crappy neighborhoods and the crime that infests them. The reverands and politicians are to blame for their roles in breeding and exploiting these behaviors to the benefit of their pocket books! J-fed should do the right thing and apologize to those officers and the rest of the department!
Thats total Bullshit. Im a detective in Area 2 and have utilized C.McD. in the past and his knowledge of the thugs in that school is vast. He was very helpful and did a great job there. Day in and day out he was fighting with those gangbangers and trying to keep the peace. This Dept. is beyond repair.

Many moons ago, I was in the old school patrol. The unit like any other, had its share of problems. But the vast majority of officers did an excellent job of policing the schools.The problem was the CPS and the principles. For some reason, they were told that they could order the Police Officers around from CPS, and use them as their personal police. You can imagine the problems that occurred with that. Their was a principle, that disliked a office employee and wanted that person arrested, because the person moved a plant from one side of the room to another. The started pimping the police. Principles not concerned with the violence in the school, just wanting to use the CPD as their personal posse to enforce their rules on everyone in the school. Reading this tread, I guess nothing changes. Just think how wonderful it would be for the black community to be served by their own. I think this is a great idea. Lets make this happen, because this would eliminate racism altogether in these neighborhoods. This is really a great idea, and it would work because the number of black officers on the department reflects the population of black Chicagoans so it would be easy to man the black areas with only black officers. I am 100% for this idea, that way it would open the door for more promotions for black officers as well since the supervisors would need to be black as well. I think this should happen immediately. I spent 20 yrs in youth even before there was a school unit. It has been bad since the early eighties. It got even worse when Mayor Shortshit came to be. He decided that the Principal's could run their own school and pick their own teachers. Big mistake. All the school's in the city are bad, not just South and West side. These school's have two Officer's inside with an average of three thousand students. Some of these school's have close to four thousand. Back in the mid 80's before Shortshit was Mayor they had big gang problem's at Farruagt H.S. The Principal was a Black Gentleman (and I do mean gentleman) who called the police for help. They pulled Officer's from all over the city and detailed us there. The Principal was the best. He didn't take any shit from the student's what so ever. He walked the hall's and the lunchroom with a bull horn and if they didn't listen to him he would have us lock them up. He would then follow up and not let them back. At the end of the day he walked the streets with the bull horn and dispersed any crowds. This went on for about two week's and if I remember we had about 14 P.O's there all day. In fact the movie Lean on Me was based on this man. There were so many arrest's everyday that after the first week the natives decided to behave alittle better. The problem now is the principal'swork for Shortshit. They don't even tell the shool officer's half of what's going on. According to the Board of Ed discline code book, any student that is arrested is suspended or kicked out. That means at the end of the year the principal get's less money on his bonus check. (Yes they get a bonus check along with their reg. salary) Maybe Jesse (racist)Jackson should spend a few day's in the school like a ride along with the Officer's. In fact let it be an all black school with black officer's and let him see for himself white or black the student's and principal's are out of control. There are not enough Police to solve the problem. The principal is most of the problem. So glad I was able to leave the job in one piece and able to move somewhere warm. Spent 30 yrs and 20 with these gangbanger's. Same shit different year.

FENGER Principal recieves carte blanche from Jfed to have as many police officers at his disposal for now on as he sees fit. Principal will also tell the police where they will be stationed. Fenger will have more police officers assigned to it than the rest of the district. I sure hope nobody else needs the police in 022 during school hours.
Call your alderman and complain, they love to hear from you the tax payer.
Only a black officer can deal with black students, and only black officers know what other blacks go through...

The sad thing in that I do remember those times.
It is sad that they are gone. And people today don't know what they lost.
Where's all those brave black men to "take back" their neighborhoods that we've been hearing about?
Where's all the 'strong black women?' - like the ones with "Queen" in their name?
Where are all those strong Nubian-types? No one stopped to do anything about this. THey all just drove by with their $200 cell phone cameras laughing and joking.
No law is going to change this behavior ... it's already against the law.

It's pathetic how people can't take responsibilty for their own actions. As if the Fenger officers provoked an all out brawl causing the death of a student. So now it's a proven fact that even the so called "role-models" like Jessie Jackson blame the police for "savage" actions. What a fucking shame.
Everything in Area 2 is based on racial boundaries. How about the community take responsibilty for their children's actions and stop blamimg the police. CPD stop fueling the racial issue with these comments about each other. When say things based on predjudice, then we are just as stupid as the principle and all the people that blame us for their actions. We need officers everywhere. Black, white, hispanic and everyone needs to back each other up. Stop all this nonsense among us.

Interesting theory but these kids do not have "parents". In addition, it's like talking to a wall. Things can only be secure militarily like many third world countries. When you look at the video you understand completely what goes on day to day. Finally, most 3rd world countries have kids that are more willing to learn than in these hard headed neighborHOODS.

At least the principal can make a decision. A horrible lack of leadership results in a school principal controlling asignments of police officers. This is amazing.
