Shortshanks Craps Gold!

  • Arguing that Chicagoans are "suffering" and can't stand to pay any more, Mayor Daley said Thursday he would hold the line on all taxes, fines and fees in 2010 and find another way to plug a revised, $550 million budget gap.

Two days after the Chicago Sun-Times reported Daley's decision to keep his hand out of taxpayers' pockets, the mayor confirmed that decision and said "everything is on the table" to eliminate the shortfall—except raising taxes.

But how will you do that, oh great mayor of ours?
  • The mayor's preliminary 2010 budget assumed that the last $51.3 million of a "rainy day fund" created with parking meter proceeds would be exhausted in 2010.

The rest of the money was placed in a $325 million mid-term budget relief fund to help balance budgets through 2012 and into a $400 million long-term reserve fund.

Skyway proceeds were divided into short-, medium and long-term pots.

As of June 30, the long-term fund had a $515 million balance. The mid-term fund had $122.9 million. And the short-term fund earmarked for "neighborhood and human infrastructure" had just $18 million left.

Gee, that's about $1.3 BILLION just lying around collecting dust. Or interest. And that's after the teachers got 4%, the other unions got 4%, the aldercreatures got 6% and their staff got 5%, and their discretionary funds rose to $1.3 million per aldercreature.

And all as Arbitrator Benn sits down to figure out how much Daley has been lying for the past 2.5 years.

"alderasshole Smith want the Police and Fireman to take furlough days, saying that we they are not special and should not be treated different than other city workers."

Well, I personally think we should tell the FOP that we agree with the Alderman and we will take two unpaid furlough days....
as long as those days are either July 3rd, the day of the Bud Biliken parade, or Dec 31st. Absolutely no other days will be considered.

Send a check immediately or face the consequences, letters, wage assignments or death

You got to be kidding! He probably doubled his earnings with that kind of capital. How is government allowed to earmark anything for this and that (cough, pet projects, cough) when people are becoming tax poor? My guess, is that he's got so much fucking money he knows he better not stick it to the taxpayers anymore lest he get some sort of subpoena.

I guess you don't get it then do you?

Daley's SOLE purpose for pulling this shit now is:

1. The arbiter was going to find out how much Daley's been holding out and would have used it in our favor.

2. Daley's gambling that since it would have been found and used against him, he intends to claim it's ALL going to be used up to keep the city from bankruptcy and there's NOTHING left for raises.

And notice how he's crafted this line of bullshit with 90% of his hidden money allegedly stashed in "Mid Term" and "Long Term" accounts. Yeah. That means he's stashing that money in accounts that can't be tapped until AFTER an arbiter has ruled. Then he'll pull that 90% back out of those accounts and reappropriate it to his own personal ends as it was before. So in essence, it's costing Daley about 10% of his hidden stash that he has to spend in the short term to dupe an aribter into believing the other 90% of the cash will be used as he claims 2 or 3 years down the road.

This is exactly how far this shitbag will go to fuck the police department. Nothing is out of bounds, and this fucker goes to sleep at night thinking of how much more he can try and fuck over his own police department.

This is his latest scam to cause an arbiter to give the police department a 0% raise and no retro.

Amazing this fuckshit has the balls to pull this shit when New York gave their police over 20% raise all inclusive.

It's amazing how New York can keep the city's protectors justly paid yet Mayor McFuckstick expends all energy and city funds finding new ways to fuck over Chicago's.

Absolutely amazing this asshole is still in power.

FOP should really look into that collecting unemployment. I am told that there are exceptions to the rule that you can't collect Unemployment Insurance after being layed off from a government job.

One exception, is that if you are forced off at age 63, you can collect for 6 months.

The forced free furlough days are making all the exempts grumpy. A lieutenant as a commander now makes on $3,000 more per year. A captain as a commander actually looses money because of the furlough days, no overtime, no paid holidays.

Shorty don't care now, but he will next election. I wonder if our contract will be settled by then.

CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE  10/16/09

The Lodge has been working to modify the current 6-on 2-off work schedule for at least fifteen years. That goal was finally accomplished today when the Contract Negotiations Team unanimously recommended that the full Board of Directors vote to accept an agreement that will implement a 4-on 2-off work schedule in Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 beginning the first period of 2010. Areas 1, 3, 4, and 5 will also participate in this schedule. The full Board of Directors unanimously voted to accept the Negotiations Team’s recommendation.

This schedule has been piloted in the 014th and 018th Districts for the past ten and one-half months. All details, including sample rotations, regarding this schedule can be found on the FOP website under the Current Contract tab on the left side of the page.

The 005th and 020th Districts will continue to work the Ten-Hour Rotating Schedule in 2010.

The 008th and 013th Districts will continue to work the 6-on 3-off Schedule.

Area 2 will continue to work the Ten-Hour Rotating Schedule in 2010.

All Special Functions Units that participated in any 2009 pilot work schedule will continue to work that schedule in 2010.

It should be noted that all desk, lockup, and watch relief positions will be included in all of these work schedules in 2010.

While not raising property taxes is a good thing, the money he has stored up from the sale of assets is, in the big picture, not a whole lot. I predict he won't raise property taxes, use 500+ million for next year (from the asset sale) and maybe do the same thing in 2011. that will leave him with about 0 left from the parking meter sale. When he decides not to run again, the 'rainy day' funds will all be gone and there will be NOTHING left. But he'll be long gone. I pity the next mayor of this city.

3 billion(meters and Skyway) is only enough for a 550 million budget gap each year for 5 1/2 years; then its all gone. Think about it.

This is a very good point. If someone would run not with the intention of getting re-elected but to completely fuck with the established order, he or she could really be a complete pain in the ass to all the rubberstampers. All it would need is a grass roots effort to place candidates in strategic wards and then vote them in. If illiterate aldermorons can be put into office (baseball park vendors, former gang bangers, convicted felons, DUI offenders, indicted aldermen, etc.) exactly how hard could this really be to accomplish? Think about it. Some young kid got credit for electing Obama by starting a web page. I mean, c'mon.

The agreements of the old contract remain in effect until a new agreement is reached. The old agreement has a no strike clause.

State Law, no strikes by police or fire. The CFD did that in Chicago. Once. Won't happen again. If anyone strikes they will get fired; if union advocates a strike it will be decertified.

the only bigger asshats are...the 1 or 2 imbeciles that feel obligated to write 10 movers a day. sellouts. cant wait to see that same silly face when you dont get a retro check.

The only ones writing movers like that are the cops in the DUI business and every district has them. All that going to court is a heck of a part time job. If/when a retro check comes (it's money we should have had from day one) their share will be huge.

I'm Curious!
Why do police officers continue to honor a contract that expired over two and a half years ago?

Because it is against the law for police to strike.

VOTE ALL DEMOCRAT INCUMBANTS OUT OF OFFICE IN THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS, ESPECIALLOY THE IRISH ONES, AND DON'T VOTE IN THEIR KIDS, WIVES, ETC; EITHER.
SAVE AMERICA AND FREEDOM, VOTE REPUBLICAN, JUST SAY NO TO DEMOCRATS. WE HAD THE CHANGE, IT'S THE SAME, NOW WE NEED THE REAL CHANGE...

Hey I'm Irish and republican. I respect the 2nd and your guys' employment.

Is it possible to find out who, if any, aldermen are running unopposed? I may run if there is only one candidate (or a democrat candidate) for the next election. Why not, right? I might not be an experienced politician, but I figure if I can not lie, not steal, and accept that mid/low 6 figures is enough for a part-time job, I'm already ahead.

NO sir, we were not used for the purpose of the media. You could not be further from the truth! We asked Supt. Weis, and he graciously oblidged. My Grandmother took the picture with her camera. Geez, get off his back, and get yourself a life...Positive thinking is a great motivator~

How nice for you and your grandmother. Ask Bill Cozzi how warm, gracious and engaging he is.

Since this was at the CCSP Award Ceremony, you are probably not a Chicago Police Officer, or maybe not even an officer at all, which would be my guess. This being the case, its really not appropriate for you to comment on Wies's running of the CPD based solely on your "brief photo-op".

Perhaps you are right. It may be time to rethink all of the bashing and needless chatter towards Wies. We've lightened up on the steroid headed Fed too much lately. I think it's time to DOUBLE the bashing of the clueless jerk which would be a fraction of what he should be getting!

Finally, negative thinking is a great destroyer which is nicer than what Wies deserves! Moron!
