$1 Million - and More?

One of the amusing things about being the police is how some people treat you like you aren't even there. If they're in a car, they stop 10 feet before the line, they signal lane changes a block away, they pause at green lights. They aren't ignorant of your presence - they're trying to be nonchalant.

But sometimes, people really don't see you, don't think you have ears, or maybe they don't care if you overhear something they figure you must already know because, hell, you're a cop, you know everything already.

First, you have Sneed's column Tuesday:
  • Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez is seeking to raise the $250,000 bail of Sgt. Pallohusky to $1 million "because it's thought Pallohusky, who was a big gambler, stole a lot more money than the original report of $600,000," said a source.
  • Sneed is told 38 "hefty-sized" trash bags filled with financial documents were seized indicating the thefts "may have exceeded $1 million," the source added.
Coincidentally, a cop is on an upper floor of 26/Cal after reading this very article. Two individuals in suits are in the elevator with him chatting about the "nine years worth of Time Due slips seized at Pallohusky's home." They see the cop with a slip and joke, "You better make sure you turn that in."

Obviously, they were a little ignorant of the fact that you always turn in OT slips. But one has to wonder about the "nine years" worth of slips seized by the State. This is getting uglier by the minute.

Hey SCC. This should be good for a laugh. Post the police sketch on the blog. LOL!

Worst Police Sketch Ever

It is being compared to the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz" and amazingly has worked to catch a killer by Bolivian police.

Police were able to use the image (above) to help track down two people involved in the murder of a taxi driver from the city of Santa Cruz, who was stabbed 11 times and set on fire in March.

The image now appears to have taken on a life of its own - The Daily Mail reports that the photo is now being used by media sites to block out the face of the suspect, (below) who cannot be identified by law.

Hey ace, where have you been. this has already been reported. He bought the gun in 1982, prior to the law going into effect, and has kept the registration up to date until a few years ago when he stopped renewing it. So all he was in violation of was a city ordinance charge. Just like so many others in this city, including some of our brothers and sisters. So no Mr. Expert, there wioll be no backdating, covering up, etc. It is already OLD news. Now crawl back under your rock.

And, I do not believe anything that might be said by the police department on the purchase date. I do believe, the trace done by ATF, However. Don't forget, back in 1992, the female police sergeant was accused of backdating a gun registration for her son. She was allowed to retire, but only after she was promoted. The rumor had it she backdated many more registrations. The ASA refused to prosecute. So, my response to you, have a colonoscopy and see if your head is up your ass!

I'm confused by your post: so it was OK for JP to steal HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF OUR MONEY because he was a cop? The sergeant/lieutenant you refer to may be collecting a pension, but she did not 'retire' she was FIRED!

Only a felony conviction can relieve you of your pension. She was not convicted of a felony but was FIRED by the police board.

Not a police officer or media/pls understand that following questions are in earnest:

How do you prove you worked overtime/or double time over the course of a career with CPD?

Do you leave it up to the individual at the station whom you turn your slips in to?

Or do you keep copies at home of your overtime slips, for years, year after year, as they accumulate towards an early retirement?

Especially if you work mostly overtime violent crimes/homicide detective sergeant hours i.e. double hours?

Do you maybe keep originals/ submit copies to substantiate hours/correct pay/credit towards retirement/pension? Or vice versa?

Just curious how you support/document your hours for retirement/pension purposes in this scenario?

Most likely, in that particular division (homicide), don't extra hours on duty add up quickly?

Do you accumulate almost double the hours than a nine to fiver as you investigate homicides?

Do you trust/leave it up to powers that be to keep accurate records for you?

Or do officers keep personal records/copies at home in addition to those at the station?

What type of time slips exactly did Alvarez find? Were they copies? Originals? Personal documentation? Blanks? If blanks, could they be used to cheat/add overtime hours? Is that the implication?

Respectful appreciation for any clarification.

CPD family member

Being fired does not allow you to take a pension. Your contributions are refunded. Hence, it is wiser to pull the pin before, and rather than, being fired.

Think about you idiot. The Gen Orders are at least 8 ft high if you stacked them up. Every minute every cop is in violation of something. If that was the case then everybody that had got near a pension would be run up on charges and served up to the crooked police board to save the city the pension money. In other words IF they used OUR money to profit can we be re-imbursed on the gains as opposed to putting all profits and proven funds back into some PBPA savings account?

Jon Burge was not fired, he resigned to take a pension (retired). If you are fired and/or convicted of a felony arising from your duties as a PO, you lose the pension, and the money with interest is refunded. Whoever said it is correct, if it looks bad retire, assuming you have the time and age, before they fire you.
