Chicken Little Again
The CTA has cried "wolf" a few too many times for anyone to care:
- The public clamor that erupted over previous transit "doomsday'' threats is amounting to little more than a whimper this time as CTA service cuts are set to take effect next Sunday, barring a last-minute breakthrough to solve a budget shortfall.
Perhaps commuters and our state lawmakers who control the purse strings simply don't believe the cuts will go through after repeatedly hearing before that "the sky is falling."
Rallies held to protest the service cuts have been organized mostly by CTA labor unions that face major layoffs in connection with the service cuts. Attendance at most of the rallies amounted to dozens rather than hundreds of participants.
"It seems as if the CTA has cried wolf so many times, that it is finally getting what it deserves — a ridership that can't be shocked and a government that doesn't care,'' said Getting Around reader Ben Rutledge, of Chicago.
Count us among the "not caring" faction. The CTA has been a drain for years with its bloated middle management and treating riders like crap. We're of the opinion that it will have to be completely destroyed before it can be rebuilt into something that actually delivers proper service to its riders.

Huberman is no longer in charge. He f*$ked it up so he was sent to be head of the schools.Now another Mayor kiss ass(Rodriguez)was sent to trim the fat. Rumor has it he was ready to leave as soon as he got there.CTA is a dumping ground for political hacks of the mayor and HDO
That's how you know it's February without looking at a calendar - the CTA is "in trouble" - again!
It's interesting that the newspapers reported that CTA bus
driver and motormen average over
$ 57,000.00 per year but they claim
that they can't make it off that
kind of money so they can't accept
a wage freeze and are panting for
that percent wage hike. What will
they do if Rodriguez does shut-down
parts of the system and lays off
1000 workers, what will their sorry
behinds do then ? 92 percent of

The CTA is a joke, all the buses I see at night run empty. If they managed it right it wouldn't be a problem.
Like everything else in Chicago the people that run the CTA are idoits.

The CTA is a village that must be destroyed before it can be saved.
The only way it can work is if the bloated staffing and defined benefit pension system is eliminated.
It's just a matter of time, 3 years, 5 years, 7 years, 10 years and the checks are going to stop. First with the double-dipers.
You can bank on it. They can't get money where there aint no money. The politicians delude themselves that they can but they're going to learn that's a reality that's no longer a reality.
As the decades pass. if it takes that long, the Tweens of today are going to give the 65-70 year-olds of tomorrow the same fuck you there grandparents have been and are giving the right now.

What is really interesting is that your amusingly composed, (in broken English), comment makes no mention of the bloated salaries being enjoyed by those who, being as charitable as possible, call themselves CTA 'managers'.
Why the omission?
cta broke, illinois broke, cook county broke, usa broke, 10 percent unemployment nationally, the state of michigan is 15 percent unemployment--- but we have millions to spend in haiti.... how much did china, japan, middle eastern countries contribute to the haitians--- nowhere near what we plopped down--- currently if every citizen in america mailed a check to the government for 4,000.00 it would erase the deficit--- this administration spends our money like a drunk sailor on shore leave....
I have a suggestion....why not have the CTA only operate from 6am to 9pm? There, problem solved!
