More Cameras?

All this money, growing on trees, it's a wonder all right. Meanwhile, cameras have helped solve exactly how many crimes? One? We're not sensing a very good return on the investment:
  • Criminals used to the blinking blue lights of Chicago's police cameras have learned to move outside their range. But soon there will be a greater chance the illegal activity will be captured by an undetectable camera that has a wider range.

At least that's the hope of Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis, who announced recently the department would be updating its police camera network.

"We have blue-light cameras all over the city," Weis said recently during a radio interview. "I think the next stage we're going to go to is having more covert cameras.
Anything to distract from the gun debate we suppose.

More cameras that WON'T be watched. Wake up! sheeple. These little gizmos are nothing more than visual deterrents IF they were actually used for their intended purposes.

In reality, these will just be more tools used by the Democrats/Communists-In-Training to fine-tune your complacency via a false sense of security through the installation of fear. It's nothing more than a high-tech version of the 3 card monte.

Enjoy what's left of your freedom people.

Aren't a certain % of the cameras just dummy set-ups?

The ACLU does bring up some good points; about how it's being paid for with federal grants so they don't have to address effectiveness to anyone.

If they go forward with "covert" surveillance, expect several people to photograph them and map out their locations within a day of their deployment. Even the smallest pan/tilt/zoom cameras are still pretty obvious.

It is the way big brother works. First, tell the people that they are going to have blue lights on the cameras so they will all know where they are. Then, the boxes get smaller. Then there are only some covert cameras. Then the expansion. Then the removal of the blue lights. Finally, a camera on every block pointed at every house. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I probably will be proven right in 10 years.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.

WAR IS PEACE

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

Also by George Orwell's, "1984"

"But the proles, if only they could somehow become conscious of their own strength, would have no need to conspire. They needed only to rise up and shake themselves like a horse shaking off flies. If they chose they could blow the Party to pieces tomorrow morning. Surely sooner or later it must occur to them to do it? And yet -----!"

AGAIN...Anything they can do to justify the downsizing of the dept. they will do. They will dupe the public into thinking there are secret ghetto-cams watching every chicken wing transaction. The public will have to pay for these cammeras to replace boots on the ground, but they will never get to see what they paid for. Priceless!!
Yes sir you bought it and it is yours, but if you want to see it,"I will have to kill you."

Is there any fucking doubt J-Fraud is the in bed 69 with daley.OMFG.

As a demonstration of effectiveness, check out the "Safe School Zone" sign half a block from the blue light camera at 48th & Union (across from Tilden HS). It's sporting it's very own pitchfork GD tag. The school gets tagged regularly too.

Why invest in new cameras ? if funds
are available, hire more Police
Officers and deploy them to patrol
the neighborhoods of the West and
Southsides on a frequent basis so
that the dope-sellers will not be
able to set-up and get comfortable.
Bring back the anti-loitering law
so that even when the gangbanger
takes off and walks down the street
the officers can still haul him in
because the dope is hidden in various places on the block.
It's infuriating as a homeowner
to stand at my gate and watch the
customers drive-up and the banger
rushes over to the car or truck
and exchange dope for money.
even sadder when a female customer
has little children in the car.
Give the Police the power to do their jobs. They are law enforcement officers, not security
guards. Don't tie their hands or
restrict their police power.

Speaking of cameras...

I heard a rumor that some Aldercreature is attempting to get the City to Make ALL ticket writers have to Photograph every Parker they issue.

Around the point of every Cop or TMA or whomever has to carry one of the machines that Revenue currently uses.

Heard anything on this?

The Chicago gun debate? Well the problem there is obvious. Chicago's criminals have simply not been properly advised that it is ILLEGAL to have/use weapons in Mr. Daley's little city. Were they to be made AWARE of the inherent unfairness of shooting/killing individuals rendered completely DEFENSELESS by the mayors' mandate, surely they would cease their unfortunate, untoward activities!!! HA!
