Thank YOU Ms. Lawson

One of the best e-mails we've ever received:
  • Hi, SCC. My name is Colleen Lawson, and I am one of the plaintiffs in McDonald v Chicago.

I'm writing you to share an incident that occurred yesterday, and in hope that you might allow me to publicly thank and acknowledge those involved.

Yesterday, two Chicago cops pulled up next to me while I was parked at a gas station. I was standing by my car. They got out of their squad car, walked up to me, and thanked me.

I would like those officers to know that their words, and their handshakes, mean more to me than anyone else's have.

I was deeply, deeply touched by the fact that these officers, who place their lives on the line every day for citizens like me and my fellow plaintiffs and every single Chicagoan and visitor, these officers who never can be quite sure where they'll be at the end of the day ... that they had come over to speak to me, and to voice their support.

I apologize for my quick exit -- I was kind of stunned as they continued speaking and probably just mumbled my thanks back to them, then got back into my car and just cried as I drove home. I completely forgot to go into the store and make my purchases; but then, no one has ever flustered me to that extent before.

Truly. Not high-up, celebrity, mucky-muck or thug. Yesterday's cops trump them all, and that one moment with them is my highest treasure.

I am humbled and intensely grateful. You, all of you, have my thanks.

  • It's just occurred to me that this is the only letter i've written publicly since this case began. That's how honored I feel by the words of your officers :)
Well, for our part, we'd just like to add our thanks to those of our fellow officers. Standing up for your fellow citizens and saying, "Enough!" may not seem like a big deal, but in some countries around the world, it lands you a term in prison, a session with the torturers or even death. Inaction is one of the worst sins any civilized society can commit because it makes it that much easier for the next bad act to occur. It is our hope that by your action, you have inspired countless others to step up when necessary.

We and literally million of others are in your debt.

I'm not one of those coppers, but I thank you too. It's about time the residents of this violent city are allowed to protect themselves. God Bless You.

It is time that the everyday, working man/woman is heard. Just wait until April 2011 when Daley gets DUMPED.

It is strange that this country has become so polarized over one of the most substantial elements of the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment.
Had this been the First or Fourth Amendment being assaulted by the government in this city, its actions would have been ruled unconstitutional years ago.
Over and over you will hear the same tired story that gun bans save lives and over and over again they are being proven wrong. Gun bans and other government enforced bans are the seeds of tyranny. May the Supreme Court of the United States maintain it tenuous grip on reason-ability for a long time to come.

No doubt the Police understand that armed citizens pose a HUGE threat to violent criminals. I just hope that I live long enough to see concealed carry in Illinois.
Free Bill Cozzi ! And thanks for being the Police.

I'm with you Ms. Lawson. I'm proud of my Chicago police officers. As a former medic, now ER nurse they have covered my six on more occasions, I lost count. Stay the course Ms Lawson. I want the chance to return the favor.

I've met Colleen Lawson at ISRA/IllinoisCarry.com's Second Ammendment Freedon Rally (SAFR)held in front of the Thompson Center these past two summers. She is a champion of the 2nd ammendment, and a class act all the way.

ISRA/IllinoisCarry.com members attending the event got a chance to speak with the fine officers that worked that detail, and we know we're on each others side.

Thanks to all Champions and defenders of the second ammendment, coppers and citizens alike!

If someone has posted this already, I apologize.

Here is a PDF copy of the transcript of the Oral Arguments before the Supremes.

It won't fit inside the box, so if you're not aware, highlight the link and copy / paste into a new browser window.

Plus don't forget, you'll need the PDF reader to see it!

Naw. You've got it all wrong.

Here. Here's the Word.

"Some of the things that helps prevent crime is prevention."

--Police Supt. Jody Weis, being interviewed by Channel 7 TV news, Monday, March 8, 2010

*

Q. Is someone going to compile a book of these, as they've done with "Daleyisms?"

By the way -- Phil Ponce on Channel 11's Chicago Tonight ran a poll on viewers' feelings about Chicago's handgun ban and described the result as "overwhelmingly" pro-gun. He read two standard anti-gun messages, then three varied pro-gun responses.

That's really something, considering Ch. 11's audience tends towards the affluent Left.

The walls are closing in on Da Mare -- who only knows to propose more gun control legislation in response...

Mayor Daley is clinically insane.

G-d bless you, and I certainly know who's guns I need to fear, it is not the law-abiding citizen, but the element that has no clue about any amendments or rights. In well over 20 years, I have made enough gun pinches, but I have also used discretion and knew who I could trust to keep their right to possess one. FOID and registration or not.

Good thing you didn't list those officers' names or the Daley Mafia would be coming for them.....This will be immensely historic if you are successful in your suit. Best of luck to you from way down state.
