Any copper that believes that any promotional process on this job is 100% legitimate or fair needs their fucking head examined. If this latest example of "promotions to pacify" doesn't make you open your eyes, you're delusional beyond repair.
This should be just another reminder why the majority of the people on this job should do no more than the absolute minimum - there are no rewards for the hardworking, non-clouted peons at the bottom of the CPD food chain.

There has never been a more blatant example of racial pandering in the history of the CPD. Obviously, integrity and professionalism are foreign concepts to Weis.
Everyone should file an application. Masters was never even the Police and he is a Chief. Brust, Daley and Klimus were either never the police, police in another Department. Historically, members as low as P.O. have held exempt positions. I'm not sure if Keating was ever higher than a Sgt. Put the application in and when they don't take it or reject it, file a lawsuit for discrimination or under Shakman since at least 30% of those applying were political appointees.
I made it as high as I can on this job by test alone, Lt. Yes I did put my app in for Capt and Commander because I believed that I could make a difference if selected. I will never make this mistake again or waste my valuable time. I will wait for the next few years to pass and leave as a Lt with my head held high. I made many friends along the way and helped out as many people as I could. This qualifies me for nothing under the current administrations guidelines. So I say Fuck You and the horse all of you rode in on including you Mr. Major failure Daley. God help the CPD

How is it that he made 4 promotions on Friday and the deadline was not until 8 March 2010? Now he is extending it? For what position. Only Aunt Bea's husband has left and the position is unfilled.
He did not open the Deputy Chief's spot up before placing Commander Escalante there. He did not open up the position in 25 nor in 14 before placing a Commander there. No one had the opportunity to apply. If I were an Exempt member, I would definitely sue. How can you post the fact you will open ALL positions up for application and then just decide you are not going to honor that commitment. Then the Mayor and the rest of the department wonders why we don't trust this Superintendent and his regime. They are doing what they want to do when they want to. They continually lie and disrespect us.
How could you promote Deputy Chief Zavala (though he is a nice guy) to Chief when he has not even been an Exempt member over 15 months? How can he have ANY knowledge on how to compliment the efforts of the Deputy Chiefs and Commanders when HIS Area fared WORST than ANY Area in the city!!!! Didn't LOPEZ work directly under this idiot for an excuse of being anything other than a Lieutenant.
This was ALL strictly political and even the civilians who watch our department are saying the same things. YOU Superintendent Jodi Weis, do not have the best interest of this city, the department and us, the troops in your eye to assist or do anything to better what you are tasked to govern and support.

I have never had a "Meritorious Promotion".
Affirmative Action, Standardization, Race Norming and Having to Make Up for Past Differences have always held me back.
I have the respect of the people I work with and I am happy to work with them. The adverse conditions that we work with makes do for each other all the better. We don't work for Richie Daley or Jody Weis or Mickey Masters. They will hopefully be gone soon and we will still be here.
I would not want to be a Commander and go anywhere else and leave my friends.
I wouldn't want to have to talk to Jody and I would want to be beholding to someone who never wore a blue shirt.
Besides, I wouldn't want to take a pay cut.

Have you ever talked to this guy? He is dumber than a box of rocks. He always cuts out early and he has absolutely NO clue on how to run a District, a Deputy Chief's office and now he is the Chief of Areas 3,4,5 and CCG? You are are talking about him being over 17 Districts and he could not manage 5 Districts as Deputy Chief? I now realize I am really a part of the circus and I have to love all the clowns that have joined if I want to make it to 29 and a day. It is not even worth it anymore. Once the contract is settled, I am out of here!

I'm actually kind of proud of mine. ......of course, I'm also not up posting at 2:30 in the morning either.
I had a commander, recently retired, tell me how hard he worked and studied to be promoted depite being discriminated against, and what wass wrong with me? I was wondering how a Sergeant and a Watch Commander can come up on Zone 10 and order that no police officers will assist State Police who are attempting to place a fleeing felon into custody. This is not what happened. 1199 just came up on the air and said no 011 cars were to get involved in the chase. You make it sound like he ordered the officers to not jump in while other police were physically trying to cuff the guy which is not true. Quit trying to stir shit.

And that same Superintendent of Police Jody Weis put Officer Bill Cozzi in a Federal Prison for 40 months AFTER being convicted in state court and receiving his penalty.
This is the same Superintendent who says he has our backs and who urges his Deputies to try to influence us into exemplifying the "warrior ethos"
Oh yeah, Weis has our backs. I have yet to meet one police officer who actually believes that. There has never been one man, Al Capone and all the criminals of the past 100 years included, who has done as much to harm the CPD as Weis.
