Stupidity Keeps Rolling

Shortshanks continues to lose touch with reality and it's lovingly documented by Fran:
  • During oral arguments this week, U.S. Supreme Court justices signaled their intention to overturn Chicago’s strictest-in-the-nation handgun ban.

Still, Mayor Daley isn't giving an inch. In fact, he’s ridiculing the high court for affirming the Second Amendment right to bear arms while sitting in a protective bubble.

“Why can’t I go to the Supreme Court and sit there with a gun and listen to the arguments? If a gun is so important to us on the street or someone’s home, why can’t I go to the Supreme Court and sit there with a gun? I’m not gonna shoot anyone. But, I have a right to that gun,” Daley said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Protective bubble? Hello, asshat? You've lived in a protective bubble, protected by guns, for how long now? Sixty years? When was the last time you even went out in public to do your own shopping? Do you even have any idea how much a gallon of gas costs? Guns have protected you since you were throwing snowballs out the car windows at the kids unfortunate enough to have to walk to school.

Over the past two days, we've had to read and delete a whole bunch of comments that made facetious arguments and personally attacked us for our belief in the Second Amendment of the Constitution. A few examples of people who have drunk the Daley Kool-Aid:
  • SCC, screw you and your horseshit 2nd Amendment agenda. All that means for us working police officers is WAY MORE guns on the streets!
Hey dumbass, the guns are already there. The only thing Daley's anti gun agenda does is deprive the law abiding with a means of self defense in their homes. This isn't Concealed Carry legislation. And if you're so eager to surrender Constitutionally guaranteed Rights, there are countless socialist paradises and dictatorships you can move to.
  • More stolen guns...more break ins...
Bullshit strawman arguments. The ATF studies show that under 15% of guns recovered from the streets were ever taken in burglaries. But if you're that worried about it, buy a safe goof. We have one.
  • More dead cops...
More BS scare tactics. There isn't a fact in existence that shows "more guns = more dead police officers." It hasn't happened in 48 other states - what makes the Kool-Aid drinkers so sure that Illinois citizens are suddenly going to be ambushing cops from tree top sniper nests and roof top bunkers? Grow up, read some books, do some research.
  • SCC, you're a pussy house mouse, blah blah blah
Yeah, we get that a lot. Attack the messenger, not the message. Typical Shortshank, J-Fed, Masters behavior. You'll go far on this job.

The insane babbling of a tyrant who hasn't had a real care or concern in his life other than to have his ass kissed. We reckon even a cretin who has had his ass continuously kissed from 24 April 1942 until today really likes it and has come to expect it. Those who refuse to kiss his ass are deemed pariah.

I find it hard that a Chicago copper would say the above bullshit. It's already bad in Chicago with way too many illegal firearms. The only thing this case will do (hopefully) is allow law abiding citizens to finally be able to protect themselves from the well armed thugs who prey on them. Hopefully we'll be reading about these predators being turned into prey occasionally. Besides, anyone who is of this mindset because they are the police now had better remember that one day, they will no longer be the police.

These arguments are all nonsense.

In neighboring Indiana citizens have been able to get CARRY PERMITS for years and they don't have any more of these problems than we do. They let people CARRY guns there. Are Illinoisans too dumb to carry a gun? If they are, then those of us who are presumably smart enough to carry (cops) better get out of here soon-our subjects shouldn't be armed!

There will be idiots causing all sorts of problems. Just think...idiot gang members friends could acquire all the ammo for their convicted felon friends, etc. A comment from one of the earlier posts claimed the CPD gun teams will have nothing to do if the ban is lifted. WRONG. The gun teams will be busier than ever, pursuing these idiots that will think nothing of firing shots into the air anytime they feel like it. The idiots will think nothing of taking the loaded gun on their person and in the car. More road rage cases involving the idiots now that they would have guns. LOL! I can see it now. Before long, every station will have a kiosk in it with a small safe. Anyone who wishes to arm themselves for a specific period of time can go to any police station and get a handgun. Just like the zipcar idea, all you would have to do is sign up at any station, provide a valid I.D. and FOID card and you will be given a membership card with a magnetic strip on the back. Each time you want a hand gun, you go to a station and wave the card in front of the strip reader. The computer logs you as taking the weapon.

Of course, you will have to bring the weapon back clean; returning a dirty hand gun will cause the customer to incur an additional fee.

To be fair, Heller is the first time in the nation's history that an individual right to gun ownership was recognized. Up until then, only a collective right to gun ownership had been recognized.

Also, Heller only applied to the federal government. As you probably know, McDonald addresses non-federal entities. Preventing the possession of firearms in a municipality is as at least as old as Wyatt Earp. In over two centuries, nobody has claimed that local governments violated the constitution by limiting the possession of weapons. With Heller and McDonald, the Court will have created a new constitutional right.

Also, since the ban was limited to handguns and not rifles or shotguns, it hardly seems like a right to bear arms was infringed. Instead, a right to bear a specific arm was infringed, much as it is when you can't own grenade launchers.

So, no, it is not stupid to believe the handgun ban is unconstitutional.

The scare arguements made when someone talks about letting citizens own guns or carry concealed have proven time and time again to not have any merit.Police and citizens in cities and states that allow concealed carry do not have any fear of concealed carry andhave not been shown to be in any greater danger. In fact, the opposite is true. What will probably have to stop if we get concealed carry are the countless illegal street searches. When people argue against the 2nd amendment and say this is modern times and this amendment is outdate and causes crime, I say if you really want to have an effect on crime, thrown out the 4th and 5th amendment. That would have an effect on crime. Europe does not allow an accused person to remain silent and evidence is not thrown out as " fruit of the poisonous tree".

To all you young stallions out there, this is not about being able to carry a concealed weapon in public.

It is about the constitutional right to be able to buy a handgun IF YOU SO DESIRE

If you are apprehended with said weapon on the public way you will be charged accordingly.

If the city deems it necessary to charge high fees for such a purchase that is another thing.

Just like the city keeps increasing sticker prices and the state increases registration fees.

But dont expect gun shops to open on every corner...the city will ensure that zoning and ridiculous fees and insurance rates will force them to the outskirts.

Nothing will change, the criminal element will still carry weapons on the street and commit crimes, but at least the law abiding citizen can rest well knowing he has protection for his family (if he deems that necessary) and he will not be punished for it if he is forced to defend his home.

I’m a civilian and I guess that I am most surprised about the whining going on.
How many calls do you go on and you don’t even see a gun, but they probably are there. Giving back this right to the citizens of Chicago will mean absolutely nothing. I own a few guns, owned them since Jane (“you ignorant slut”) Byrne made me a criminal. How many other citizens have done the same thing as I?
I won’t register my dogs with the city of Chicago much less my firearms, a conceal carry law? Yeah that’s different – still doesn’t interest me though, my 7 mile round trip to work that I have had for the last 23 years, I haven’t run into a incident where I would need to have one of my firearms with me – Pepper spray has done well for me.
I have had more issues with the flop house across the street from me, that the city wont do anything about, than I have with bullshit like this…

Good blog - I enjoy reading, most of the time –

If you are the police the gun ban being lifted should make absolutely no change in the way that you carry out your daily duties. If you are the real police you approach each and every situation with the thought that there is a weapon in play. Street stop, traffic stop, domestic, burglary, robbery, tender age missing...it should be the foremost thought in your head everytime you 10-4 a job. A lifting of the gun ban allows people like my Dad, a Vietnam veteran and purple heart recipient, the ability to exercise the RIGHTS that he gave up his legs for. It gives my grandmother the ability to exercise the RIGHT that she gave up her son for, it gives my wife and children the ability to exercise the RIGHT that their grandfather defended this country for. You don't want to own a gun, fine don't buy one. You don't like Glenn Beck change the channel. It's a FREE country, you don't like it here, LEAVE. WRONG. The gun teams will be busier than ever, pursuing these idiots that will think nothing of firing shots into the air anytime they feel like it. The idiots will think nothing of taking the loaded gun on their person and in the car. More road rage cases involving the idiots now that they would have guns. The idiots will never cease their "idiotness" on the more responsible Chicagoan. Do you actually see the caliber of students coming out of public schools these days? God help us all.

Im all for lifting the ban,( and concealed carry too) but this man has a valid point. There are many dumb and stupid ghetto dogs in this town. Witness the two stupid fuck-heads that shot Officer A.V. I suppose in the long run, home invasion/robberys and rapes in the home will go way down.

Once the decision is handed down a class action lawsuit should be filed against Da Mayor, preventing him from wasting any more city money fighting this.

I don't think people are going to go running out to buy hand guns, they will just run out to register the one's they already have. That is as long as Richie doesn't raise the registration fee to $100 a gun. If so, they will just continue to keep their unregistered firearms. If Shortshanks could get $20 registration fee for every gun in this city he could pay off the national debt, not that he would.

Having been a cop in Pennsylvania for 38 years where the gun laws are somewhat flexible and people carry guns lawfully on their person daily, I can tell you this secret:

Not everyone will have a gun!!!

Many people have absolutely no interest in owning a firearm for whatever reason. The "Blood in the streets" is a scare tactic from anti gunners.

You need not be afraid of the honest citizen who is armed. Remember, criminals ALREADY have guns and have had them for a long time.

Why are there folks posting comments with hopes of Hoffman to be the next mayor? He's a leftist just like all the rest of the dummy-crats. Less taxes and zero tolerance for corruption should be the mantra. Too bad a viable Republican doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell around here. Get rid of that idiot Weis and his cabal of fools too! They can't lead a fly to shit. Losers (not loosers - eh?)

Coppers don't realize it but EVERY job they go on, there is a gun present. THEIRS.

FBI stats show that 20% of police officers murdered every year are killed with their own gun.

A lax attitude is the biggest killer of cops.

"SCC, screw you and your horseshit 2nd Amendment agenda. All that means for us working police officers is WAY MORE guns on the streets!"

THEN QUIT AND MOVE DOWNSTATE YOU ASSHOLE. JUST BECAUSE THE FUCKIN SAVAGES USE EVERYTHING, INCLUDING GUNS, TO CAUSE DAMAGE AND DESTRUCTION, THE LAW-ABIDING HAVE TO GIVE UP THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS? WHY DON'T YOU GO MOVE IN WITH THE FUCKIN SAVAGES, BUT FIRST, YOU GIVE UP YOUR GUNS.

IF YOU DONT PRESENTLY HAVE 20 OR MORE YEARS ON THE CPD, THEN YOU ARE NOT, NOR WILL YOU EVER BE, THE'REAL POLICE'. YOU ARE THE "CAPS POLICE". YOU ARE ALSO PROBABLY TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND THIS. NOW GO BACK TO PLAYING COPS AND ROBBERS ON YOUR COMPUTER, KID.

To all police that don't believe in the citizens right to bear arms, please leave your weapon in your locker at work and use it for work only. Live like the citizens you want to deprive their rights to.

Oh yea, Fuck You!

Daley was on the news stating how he would like to go to Congress or the Supreme Court while he was armed himself! I never knew he was a closet concealed-carry guy. I had him all wrong all along.

He does support Concealed Carry. He might need it soon when he's out of a job!!! That DemocRAT has f-cked this city up!

BOB LOPEZ for Mayor!!!

As an ex-cop from Florida I can tell you that allowing law abiding citizens to own guns does not result in an increase in gun crimes, attacks on police officer or diminish the cops rights to stop and frisk!

See above.

I see no difference in your scenarios with the gun ban lifted, than how things are now.

One thing will be different when SCOTUS lifts the ban and there is no concealed carry law in Illinois... OPEN CARRY ON THE STREETS OF CHICAGO.

Look for it soon, coming to a street near you. :-)

I support reasonable limitations on incompetent, unqualified or incapacitated people possessing firearms.

That said, as an Iowa cop we had concealed carry (in fact, even cops had to get a permit) and very few problems. (Yes, one time I stopped a guy who was a friendly drunk offering to show me his new Detective Special. I politely accepted the offer and asked if I might hold onto it for awhile!) Permits usually weren't handed out like candy.

Frankly, I generally liked the idea of having law-abiding citizens armed as it was a disincentive to crime. The dirtballs couldn't possibly know who was packing and who wasn't.

Stick to your guns, guys!

(BTW...learned my lesson years ago when I went riding with a buddy in the 13th who was "concerned" that I wasn't packing. Donny graciously insisted that I carry one of his spares!)

The previous poem stirred my creativity.

Out with the wife,
A rare night on the town

I passed a dark alley
and made a big frown

Out of the shadows
with an illegal piece

A convicted felon out
on early release.

Give it up or
or I'll blow you away

There aren't enough cops
anymore to stop me today

We'll give you our stuff
with not a wimper

Please, please our kids
expect us home for dinner

He shook and tweaked
the way that junkies do

You saw my face
now I gonna shoot you

A seconds distraction
I had my chance.

From out of my pocket
A last choice dance

Just like the range
the way I practiced.

My trusty .380
two in the chest smashed it.

Safe and sound
or so I thought

Into the station,
I was begrudgingly brought

The asa cackled
as he charged me with lies

You shouldn't have fought back
better you died

The dwarf says gun bans give you
protection

He gave me my job
to him I owe affection.

The constitution doesn't matter
2nd ammendment be damned.

He is mayor shortshanks
YOU WILL OBEY HIS DEMANDS

When a survey was taken on what criminals feared most when committing a crime getting caught by the police wasn't even on the list. Number 1 fear, facing an armed victim.
