Hey Baldy!
St. Baldrick's is fast approaching:
- We're just over two weeks away from St. Baldrick's 2010!
There is still time to sign up for anyone that still wants to join us on Friday, March 19th from 0700 -1700 hours at the Academy, Area 2, or Area 5. Signing up is easy, just go to www.stbaldricks.org and under "find an event" type in Chicago Police in the venue box and choose your location. If you are returning from last year, simply use your login information and click on register for 2010’s event.
For those unfamiliar, St. Baldrick's is an organization that raises money that goes towards research of a cure for childhood cancer. Participants agree to shave their heads in support of the kids who lose their hair in chemo treatments, and seek pledges for doing so. Fundraising is easy once you tell people what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. There is no minimum to raise and no amount is too small, however to get a t-shirt you do need to raise at least $50.00.
Participants with longer hair are also able to donate hair longer than 12" to be used by "Locks of Love" to make wigs for the patients that do lose their hair. Colored hair cannot be used for Locks of Love unfortunately.
Should you have any questions contact: Bill O'Reilly for the Academy event at chromedome1269@sbcglobal.net, Bill Murphy for the Area 2 event at 50murf@comcast.net and Anne Zamzow for the Area 5 event at annezamzow@yahoo.com.

Come to A5/025. Be a part of this years video montage. All photos taken will be available on line for FREE! See you there!
Yup, I'm doing it again, for all my A/4 co-workers and former 024, 014 & B&A guys and gals. Throwing a twist in it this year. I'm going platinum! Donate, donate, donate!
And don't forget the Special Olympics Lake Michigan plunge this weekend!

Can me get some of these guys that are growing beards in some of these units to contribute that " beard hair " to St. Baldricks? It would be great if they can, cause that " homeless " look can only get you so much mileage.
You guys are kicking ass with your pledges. Thanks for getting the word out SCC.
The Chicago Police Lieutenants Association challenged the rest of the police Unions to see who has the shiniest heads and could raise the most money. So far each union has a team at the Academy. Join team CPLA at http://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/teamid/65344
Join the team or make a donation. It is a great cause,
This organization funds testing on animals, so I don't contribute--sorry. Childrens Cancer Center in FL doesn't test on animals and it's benefitting the same cause, so I send my money there.
I know Anne from Area 5 works very hard at this event. I don't know the other two from the Academy or Area 2 but if they work as hard as Anne a lot of money will be raised for a great cause. Thanks!
To Bill O'Reilly... simply, "THANKS!"
OT: All Citizens of the State of Chicago should know "WHEN SECOND COUNT THE POLICE ARE IN THE STATION WAITING FOR A CAR". Let be known that reliable cars and man power is lacking in this department.
can suburban officers participate in st. baldricks??
any insight would be appreciated.
A suburban PO.
Sadly grey hair can't be used for Locks of Love either, as was found out yesterday by the undersigned.
(sigh)
Hey officers help my buddy reach his goal of $3000. He is almost there and needs some more support. go to his site www.stbaldricks.org/participants/366477
He is a good guy and does whatever he can to help others in need. He only needs about $1200 more. Give what you can for this great cause and officer.

You are welcome to join team CPLA at http://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/teamid/65344
SCC, thanks for helping with getting the word out again this year!
To 10:10, you're welcome but it's about the kids, not me...
To 1:05, absolutely suburban officers as well as CCSP, ISP, and others can join us and have in the past!
Lastly, I thought I corrected my e-mail before sending the mesage to SCC, sorry about that. My e-mail is chromedome1269@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Bill O'Reilly
