WBBM At Issue

J-Fed is the guest on WBBM AM 780's "At Issue" program this Sunday, 0930 AM and 0930 PM. The preview clips we heard have J-Fed touting a double digit reduction in crime, including homicides and aggravated batteries.

We'd just like to point out once again, that the people most responsible for the supposed crime reduction are the ones continually crapped on by this Department and by Shortshanks. We're going to bet J-Fed isn't even asked about the 33 months without a contract and what effect is has on operations.

You're welcome, you ungrateful jackasses.

what about promotions? I swear there has been more promotions within the white shirt ranks than any involving the deserving ones.. the blue shirts.
Remember how J-Fed promised 90 sgts and 60(?) detectives last year? In about 5 years there's only been about 120 sgts made and even less det's. Wtf? But the white shirts keep marching up that ladder.
How about giving the rest of us some hope?

I've heard the same sound clips from the coming program. Sounds an awful lot like he's trying to get a contract extension for himself. "X type of crime is down x%. Y type of crime is down y%." blah blah blah.

Wake up, Chicago. Your mayor and police superintendent suck.

The instability of command as of late has been just unbelievable. It seems there's a different commander in certain districts almost yearly.
And the choices weis is making for these spots just shows you he has never ever been the police. He also obviously has no f*cking idea about what makes a good boss. How could he, he's never been out there on the streets to know the difference.
It's just such a terrible time to be on this dep't. I can't wait till his tenure is over.

IT IS ALLEGED:
Between July 1997 and December 2002, [the detectives

a) knowingly prepared a false confession in November
1997, which implicated GAMBOA in the solicitation of murder for hire of Miranda;

b) knowingly prepared a false confession in November 1997, …;

c) knowingly prepared a false confession in November 1997, …;

d) tendered the three false confessions to the Office of

e) prepared police reports between July and November 1997 and signed same, which contained knowingly false oral and written statements of Santos, Aguirre and Ortiz;

f) several weeks prior to [Gamboa’s] trial in August,

RONNY GAMBOA,
Plaintiff-Appellee,
v.
CARLOS VELEZ, Chicago Police Officer,
Defendants-Appellants.

In July 1997, Sindulfo Miranda was murdered in Chicago.

The Chicago police department assigned detectives … and Carlos Velez to the case.

As a result of the detectives’ investigation, Ronny Gamboa was charged in November 1997 with murder and solicitation of murder for hire.

The detectives’ investigation linkedOmar Aguirre, Robert Gayol, Luis Ortiz, and Duarte Santos
to Gamboa and Miranda’s murder.

Aguirre was convicted of murder and sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Gayol was convicted of murder and sentenced to life.

Ortiz pleaded guilty to murder and received a 25-year sentence, and
Santos pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, receiving a 12-year
sentence.

However, as the detectives now readily acknowledge, each of these convictions (even the guilty pleas) has been overturned.

Apparently, Miranda’s true killers have since been identified. See United States v. Carman,

O.T. but all complaints aside, does anyone really know the tact. lt. in 016 ? I worked with him in another district. I know that the district is shorthanded, but, he kills the tact team with his nonsense missions and covers the special few and burns the rest of the guys and gals (not only tact, but the people on the watch) that get "the opportunity " to use his special cars, to appease the few. 016 is the last barricade to stop the savages and this guy doesn't get it! There are people on the watches that could actually help out, but this guy doesn't like that they can't be controlled or bullied by him and won't give them the opportunity to police the homeland. the tact team has given up all hope and the watch people aren't synched to the same bullshit as him and are nearly in the same boat as the rest of the people that would like to take care of the homeland but aren't allowed to do things the right way...not the shober way!!!

We'd just like to point out once again, that the people most responsible for the supposed crime reduction are the ones continually crapped on by this Department and by Shortshanks. Man. You hit this dead nuts. And why is this? Why? The working cop gets sh*t on time after time. Why? Let's face this issue head on. The actual working cop on this job are few. When we were in the Academy, you were sent out as a cop. You left as a trained cop. Then what happened? Some people went into " civilian " mode. Some people went into " office " mode. By the time you were FTO trained for the street, you looked back and saw that instead of a hundred well trained cops were behind you, that came out of the academy with you, there were only ten. Where did the "others" go? They went " off " the street. Why did they become cops in the first place????? To have an office job????? All that training wasted????WTF? You hear about this all the time. And then when the few working cops make pinches and get good arrests all of the sudden the working cop is subjected to idiot management, lawsuits, etc. Can you identify with this practice? How many have had knowledge of seeing a non-producing "cop" move up to a promotion while you worked your ass off, making arrests, going to court, going that long distance to get the bad guy and then look back and see that " dog " get promoted. The " dog " was now getting more money now due to the promotion. And in some cases the " dog " had a cushy inside job working days? WTF? Here on the north side this happens a lot. I'm sure the south side is no better. I'm happy being a "grunt " but it is the principle of things. I know life is not fair and I am lucky to have a job in these trying times but let's face it, this getting crapped on sure ain't good for morale. Then they wonder why cops drink, but then they cracked down on that practice so now I come home and have milk so I can sleep good. Yea Second City Cop you sure hit this one on the head.

The sad thing is is that the Mayor is slowly but surely downsizing our department. Now, with drops in stats, this justifies him not hiring any more police or moving forward to do anything for us. This is the most important thing; the Mayor is not worried about us because he spent well over $1 million dollars for a firm to verify how many registered voters were from CPD. They also looked for the historical voting numbers. Guess what, less than 1 out of every 4 police officers of any rank are registered voters. Less than that voted in the last two Mayoral elections. This is fact! So why would he really care what you think?

The Chicago Police Department is a part of the ordinance that was passed stating the city does NOT have to provide Health Insurance after 2013. The pure nature of your job makes life a lot tougher on you physically, mentally and emotionally, all of which leads to health conditions. The Mayor and YOUR ALDERMEN are letting you know what they really think about you. They have a pension and health insurance for life and the Aldermen only work part time!

It is very sad to say that you guys are always targeted in the media and no matter what; the finger is pointed at you. You are being led by one of the most incompetent Managers, leaders or whatever you reference him that this city has seen. Are stats really worth the total loss of morale and support by an entire department? Is this sorry excuse for a Superintendent Jodi Weis worth losing one of the greatest police departments in this world to an idiot? This Superintendent is the same person that I sat next to at a major gathering. He shared with me all of his ideas which were all regurgitated BS and went on and on about how much the community meant to him. I happened to have just come from working out and I looked a mess. I stopped by another event and he would not even shake my hand or acknowledge my presence. He only responds to anyone that benefits HIM or who the puppet Michael Masters directs him too. I won't even go there. My post would be too long to talk about that arrogant, confused idiot.

This shows you how stupid the media is.

Crime isn't dowm. The crime rate is down. The crime rate is determined from categories developed in the 1920's and by data submitted by law enforcement agencies.

First, the categories of the Capone era don't reflect today's crime patterns. For example, a child sexual assault doesn't count.

Second, it's only as good as the data submitted and the FBI UCR data from Illinois has historically been nonconforming.

This Dept. has no credibility whatsoever in their highest ranks, and everyone knows it. I got news for you, Shortshanks, if you thought it took a little while finding a retired fed who was willing to be your desk underling, it will soooo

He believes we should do more with less and constantly refers to LAPD which has a 8000 man department for a population that is nearly 4 million. That is why the Mayor also sanctioned the 55 age for health care for retirees. He won't be filling these vacancies anytime soon. Also, ALL promotions will soon be completed by resume selection only. Tests are too expensive, result in lawsuits, and are not producing the diverse results that the politicians and clergy want. Stay tunes sportsfans.

So let me get this straight, regarding Lopez's SECOND demotion...
Weis didn't have anything to do with Lopez's recent demotion, it was all DUGAN, right?

And DUGAN, unbeknowingst to Weis, demoted LOPEZ due to the increase in gang related violent crime in 025

Well riddle me this...
How come ALL of the bad districts, that's the high violent and property crime districts, are commanded by blacks and hispanics?

Who else did Weis and Dugan pull a compstat on and dump Lopez because of crime conditions?
.

Why was Lopez demoted from ADS to DC-why was'nt he lateralled or promoted?

Why didn't 13 and 21 remain commanded by minority exempts?
( Lopez commanded 013 and did a good job-Tobias ran it, and well you see where he is and where he's going)

If the hispanics and minorities give Weis and Daley a pass on this, they deserve the impending screwing they're going to get when Weis and Daley remain in their offices

Don't sell out because Weis and Co tossed the latino community a few bones.

RONNY GAMBOA,

----------

That's nice that you copied all the crap.

Now here's the rest of the story.

Gamboa sued the police under a RICO provision alleging they were part of an on-going criminal conspiracy. The district court judge allowed this allegation to go to trial.

The city was given an interlocutory appeal (appeal of a ruling before trial). The 7th Circuit reversed the district court. The plaintiff cannot sue under the RICO statute.

This appeal is a major blow to the PLAINTIFF because the issue was presumably important enough to allow for an interlocutory appeal.

Reading is a skill. The plaintiff's allegations are only half of the story.

Weiss lied about the events surronding Lopez. He said he had a meeting with Lopez on thursday and told Dugan towork with Lopez. BS. Then on Friday early in the morning, rather than work with Lopez, dugnan tried to force lopez retirement at a full honors funeral. How can Dugan hold his head up with pride? Lopez refused to talk during a funeral. Dugan met him at 016 parking lot and told him to go or be demoted. So much for working with Lopez as Weiss stated. Complete disrespect towards Lopez. Now jfed forced to promote more hispanices to make it up to hispanic leaders. Now we are stuck with Linda Flores.

You must have taken the car in on a weekend. The guy at the area is a 'service writer' not a mechanic. 'Service writers' do not work on cars; its part of their union job description. Now, where in our union job description does it say we ARE mechanics??

I agree with you 100%, but it's not really the guys fault; it's our union's fault for allowing us to play mechanic. Too bad the jack didn't 'slip and fall'.......

Remember how J-Fed promised 90 sgts and 60(?) detectives last year? In about 5 years there's only been about 120 sgts made and even less det's. Wtf? But the white shirts keep marching up that ladder.
How about giving the rest of us some hope?

Because the high ranking white shirts are the most important police in this city, just ask them.

Here's a little advice on the CPD chase policy.

A termination for one is a termination for all.

The stupid 11th District supervisors think they can cover their own ass by keeping their police out of a chase, when what they are really doing is burying all the coppers who are already in the chase.

If that shitbag killed a civilian while 10th District coppers were engaged in a chase AFTER A SUPERVISOR ON THEIR ZONE gave a termination order, those coppers are looking at a Cook County criminal indictment for involuntary manslaughter.

It has happened in other jurisdictions and it is soon going to happen here.

How come after the G fucked this case up nobody else was ever charged. Why Shaved would ever put that out there is unknown. Probably because he doesn't know shit about conducting any type of investigation.

The people that changed reports and submitted false reports during this investigation were the people who helped the real murderers go free.

It was punk move to put that lawsuit on the BLOG.

"This supervisor was way out of line. Take responsibility for your own career. Know what you need to know and know it."

I know lots of people out there don't like AZ, but I think that's what he was doing....taking responsibility for his own career.
If a chase comes through and a supervisor says nothing on the air as to whether it is permissible for other officers to join in the chase, and they do, with resulting property damage/physical injury, then the Supervisor's silence can be viewed by the Dept. as a supervisory failure, and he/she's culpable. AZ was protecting his ass in case the chase went bad, and coppers and/or civilians were injured, or worse. Don't hate on him for that. The vast majority of you, if you were wearing white shirts with chevrons, would have called the same ball on that one.
Chases are always great, until the get shitty, which they often do.
There are a few injured for life/parapegic coppers around to speak to about the "feasibility" of those chases.
