Foxes Debate Henhouse Legislation
The City Council will move quickly to empower Chicago's inspector general to investigate alleged hiring abuses by aldermen to bolster the city's case to get out from under the Shakman decree, an influential alderman said today.
But, Rules Committee Chairman Richard Mell (33rd) said aldermen are so divided about Mayor Daley's plan to give the inspector general more sweeping investigative authority over the City Council, a seven-member subcommittee has been appointed to sort it out.
During a series of closed-door aldermanic briefings last week with Corporation Counsel Mara Georges, there was no consensus among the 48 aldermen in attendance, the chairman said.
Some aldermen dug in their heels and advocated "doing nothing." Others wanted the City Council to create its own inspector general. And a third camp favored "some type of commission that the IG would report to -- rather than to the mayor" -- possibly the city's existing Board of Ethics.

Come on! Everyone knows Daley is winking to the aldermen as he speaks. This is just a media ploy. The mayor knows how stupid the media is and he's calls most of the shots when it comes to reporting anyway. Corruption is the way chicago is run. It's perfectly leagl now.
Dick Mell? He is the politician that changed the Chicago gun regostration laws for one day so he can register his guns right?

STEALTH PAYROLL among Aldermen? Say it ain't so.
Hmmm, I wonder why the Chicago Aldermen were fighting SOOO hard to keep the City Inspector General from having the authority to investigate the City Council ?

MORE BULLSHIT...
OT-
This is a quote from an article in the New York Times (linked on MSN.com) regarding riskier investments by public pension funds.
"And some states that previously shunned hedge funds are trying them now."
"The Texas teachers’ pension fund recently paid Chicago to receive a stream of payments from the money going into the city’s parking meters in the coming years. The deal gave Chicago an upfront payment that it could use to help balance its budget."
"Alas, Chicago did not have enough money to contribute to its own pension fund, which has been stung by real estate deals that fizzled when the city lost out in the bidding for the 2016 Olympics."
It's heartwarming to know other states are making money off of our city's wholesale selling of all of our assets.
Bring it to a vote so any alderman can vote against allowing the IG to investigate them and then let them run for re-election in 9 months.
O.T.
OUCH AUNT BEA!
It seems that Aunt Bea is driving the bus and it's D/S DD in her path. There was a meeting Friday with some community leaders, not sure of the topic but I assume it had to do with the slaying of 025 Cmdr BL. Aunt Bea has been scrambling to tell her "people" she tried to stop DD but he wouldn't listen.
She said she "warned him not to do it" and "It's not right". She added that it makes her sick what he (J-Fed) is "doing to our people."
Is this the push to eliminate DD from consideration for the Top Spot?
These "temporary employees" who did not go through the city hiring process should get a 1099 from the city at the end of the year. No beneifts should be given to employees in this category, no health care and no pension. However, it seems that none of the above is taking place. So, that makes them , for all practical purposes, regular city employees entitled to all rights and benefits, who just happened to circumvent the city hiring process.I am sure the federal court will take notice. By the way, are all of them still working?

Why, yes. Yes, he is. And mayor shortshanks said it was perfectly OK for this to happen. Because he's the anit-gun (for you and me) mayor.
In a way, I see his point. They want everyone they steal from to be unarmed and to remain armed themselves so as to protect themselves when the people they have clipped finally grow a pair and come to get them.
Now remember to keep voting for the Democratic Machine, folks! They're looking out for the little guy. Really, they are.

No one should be above being investigated, especially the city council. How many alderman have gone to jail compared to other city officials? A lot i can tell you that. Isn't that so Ike?
Justice cries out that Daley be hung from the gallows.
