Under the Bus
Mayor Daley conspicuously refused today to give embattled Fire Commissioner John Brooks a vote of confidence, dodging questions about Brooks’ flippant response to an underling’s sexual harassment allegation.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported last week that a payroll auditor in the Chicago Fire Department had accused Brooks of calling her repeatedly, coming on to her sexually and targeting her to be laid off from her city job when she refused his advances.
That's pretty much a brush off and a heave-ho over the side of the bus there. As a commentator said, if this was private industry, it's a non issue because all the involved parties are out the door in a heartbeat. Corporations don't mess around with this anymore because it's a guaranteed loser in court. Of course, the Machine has never minded paying out with taxpayer funds - it's not like it's their money.

I think this debacle demands it's own catchy, little cliche.
May I be the first to suggest "Under the Fire Truck"?
As in: "After his ghetto side surfaced in response to accusations of sexual harassment, Fire Commissioner John Brooks was thrown 'Under the Fire Truck' by the same individual responsible for his race-based meteoric rise".

BUT Thanks to the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, who placed a nice distracting piece on the front page today about the low count of minority(black) fire fighters.
Why would any smart man or woman (black, white, gay or straight) want to work for the likes of Brooks.
Commissioner Fire Hose Brooks(Credit to 03:43:00 PM, that was funny) will be categorized as under classed, minority, (what else would the Revs say...)thanks to the Tribune. Someone should (attorney for Deidre Green, payroll auditor at the Fire Department) the records of that reporter and see how many conversations she got from Daley's office. Independent Press....NOT PANDERING TO THE REVs... YES! Helping the city cover up a legit harassment case...YES
